[ The locket opens on just Hermione's face; behind her there is nothing but a blank wall, at least until she turns. Then there's a small bookshelf, a series of vials and a cauldron before she sits down and refocuses the camera on her and nothing else. It takes her a moment to speak but she does - after taking a long, deep breath. ]
For anyone that doesn't know me, my name is Hermione Granger. We're about to enter a war and I don't think it's right that any of us enter entirely unprepared - there's only so much we can do, but I intend to do whatever I can to make sure that everyone is ready and as capable as they can be.
[ Another deep breath and she turns, so that both her cauldrons are in sight. ]
I've been brewing potions for the last few days, as much as I can and as quickly as I can. I have things for cuts, scrapes, wounds, for loss of blood and for burns, anti-paralysis... I think you get the idea. I've got a lot of stock and I'm ready to give it to anyone who thinks they might need it before they go and fight. If you need it after then you know my name and how to contact me, right?
[ She looks troubled, still; war isn't something she is entirely comfortable with, even now, even with how familiar she is with it. ]
Just let me know if you want or need something and I can pop over and deliver it. And if you have, um, friends that might need it but can't read this? Let me know. I'm an equal opportunist potioneer, I promise. Thank you for your time.
[ And, added a little later, if the change in the shadows of the room are any indication -- ]
You don't have to pay me for them, but if you can find ingredients or donate something that would be nice. Just so I can keep this going.
[ Happy, Mako? ]

[Her name actually translates, while Kiga's does not, and Pod holds out the sack of lavender. Kiga sits at Pod's side for a moment or two, and then slowly comes forward. He'd like a better sniff, but doesn't want to risk upsetting their new acquaintance.]
I hope this is enough to further your endeavors! I would give more, but I need lavender for my own work.
action
[ Her eyes brighten and she reaches out, taking the sack and grinning. Opening her beaded bag, she puts it in, her arm sliding down to her elbow as she reaches around to get the promised bark alongside a few vials of potion. ]
Here you go. I brought some potion, too, in case you need it later. There's some salve for small cuts and a bit of common antidote. You never know.
action
Another useful spell you have there! Would that it was a more common one; I imagine it would be easier to travel if I could fit everything into a bag that is so small on the outside.
[But she bows at the gift of the potions.]
Thank you; I will try not to need them, but I fear there will be great need all too quickly.
action
[ She understands the necessity of selling magic, after all, even if she doesn't love the idea. ]
If you need any more you'll let me know, right? If you use those up there's always more.
action
[Pod smiles at the offer.]
I will remember that and thank you again for your kindness. What I make may be used on humans if there is nothing else, but something made for humans would always be better.
action
[ She shakes her head. ]
Exactly. My potions are made for people, but developing them, expanding them? That's something I'm interested in.
action
[Pod is grinning when she says that, but it's a sad truth, that mages tend to attach themselves to the very rich in her world.]
If you can think of any way a simple Beast Healer can help with such things, I would be delighted to offer it. If nothing else, I might learn a little, and that is always worth the effort.
action
[ Hermione can't imagine making herself rich using magic people need. If she can help she should - that's how it works. ]
I'll see what I can do. I'm thinking of making some kind of long term hospital or something like it... Maybe you could help with that.
action
[She pauses.] Though, best under a trained Healer who knows human ills best, of course.
[She's not really thinking along the lines of what a hospital like that would need to get started, of course, only of the completed project.]
action
[ She nods, pursing her lips as she thinks. ]
I'm not really a trained healer, but I've dabbled and I have some books. Maybe I can ask the monarchs for someone to help me learn a little more while I'm here.
action
[This pleases Pod to no end to hear that beasts will be given the same considerations as humans.]
I will also work towards learning more, and perhaps there is, or will come, a Healer who would help us. With all the people here, it's possible that we just haven't met them yet, and I'm quite new myself, besides. At home, the Healers distinguish themselves with special tattoos--
[Pod brushes her fingers over her arms.] --but I have no ideas on how they might do the same in other worlds.
action
[ She can try, though it would be nice to have help. ]
Do the tattoos have any kind of magical properties? Or are they just decorative, showing off who and what you are?
action
[Pod is completely sincere in that, and standing up as straight and tall as she can--not that she manages much, being so small and slender. Then she has to pause and consider the question.]
I cannot say I've ever been to Healer's Gift, or really encountered a Healer long enough to ask that. We Beast Healers mostly have contact with simplers--who make medicines out of the herbs--and I've been lucky in life never to be so seriously hurt!
But I do know that tattoos show rank, and will spread farther and be more intricate for Masters and the higher ranked Healers. What magic they might have imbued, or not, is not something shared.
Beast Healers, and most guilds, show our ranks with our clothing. Should I make Journeywoman, say, I would be entitled to a tunic of a slightly different cut, and with a brighter green piping along the seams.
action
[ In time this could end up being worthwhile and something rather good. She could, maybe, work something out in Nimh Gleanne if it survived a war, hand out Floo Powder so people can get there easier, adjust things here and there... It would be hard work but it would be worth it. ]
Maybe that's something we ought to consider, if we're going to train and help people learn. A badge or something to show who does what and who the best person to learn from. Not rank, as much, but specialisation and skill. It would help for newcomers that aren't entirely sure where to go or who to talk to and it seems entirely logical.
[ She looks back over with a smile. ]
Perhaps we could organise some tunics and outfits once we get started, together.
action
I do like the idea of a badge that may be put on tunics or cloaks, so that all might recognize us and find what help they need. They would be simple things to put together, and if made sturdily, moved from outfit to outfit. Different combinations of colors could easily be said to mean different skills, and once word got out, people would be able to recognize them with no trouble. Clothing too, though I think we might need to contact someone who works the craft for that.
action
[ She wrinkles her nose, shaking her head. ]
It's not the same as being neutral. Of sharing our knowledge with each other.
action
[Pod, almost without thinking, tries to stand straighter, looking determined.]
I will look in the library. I'm not sure what spells I can learn here, aside from what I already know, but I've learned one. There may yet be more that my own gift will allow. And even if not, there are some that may learn them, if such books exist! I can keep a list as well.
