I pray for those who've left the castle of Caer Glaem. [She dips her head gently, though she still finds herself at a loss for how she can help, do something.]

I know I am not the only one, [Fine lady or not.] who knows not what her presence in this realm could do. I do not understand this war, but I am here regardless. I have taken time to learn the court here, and I would like to ask how I could serve. I am not skilled in any craft nor have I any supernatural abilities. But I have two hands and a willingness to learn--

[She pauses.] I helped with the injured during the last attack, and though there are those called out, I'm not sure what use I could be.

[She doesn't want to be some spoiler princess-esque type. If she's learned anything, she must be proactive in her own life lest she fall aside for the wants of others.]

There are more injured in this attack that could use the help. Fires that need to be put out, even if all you can do is throw buckets of water on them.

[ John himself has a rather alarming amount of ash on his face, though he seems to realize it and tries to rub some of it off. ]

There are many people here that are scared and should be comforted and led to safety, too.

Safe as I've ever been. [... so, no, not really.] It's good to hear from you. M'lady.

[This last bit he admits awkwardly and he is glad that he is in a spot too shaded for her to see his cheeks redden.]

[It only has her smile just as bashfully, tucking a stray strand of blonde hair behind her ear.]

It does me well to hear from you. How does our court fare?

No one's died yet. So it's not so bad as it could be. But we ain't accomplished much, either.

[His tone was scathing, but in the end, he knew little of warfare. All he knew was that if felt like they'd rushed to meet the enemy, but now were spending most of their time waiting.]

I have no practical knowledge nor training, just some things I have learned to help. [Not that it does her a lot of good here, but perhaps next time she should go, if only to help the injured.]

Not by choice, I assure you. [ and maybe she should be ashamed of that fact -- but no, she isn't. sansa (and therefore alayne) feels no guilt over her honest assessment of her own usefulness. the battlefield (of any sort) is not where she ought to be. ]
