[For anyone familiar with any semblance of the Wildcats, the pose Ryan and Kelsi are in is incredibly familiar, with Kelsi behind a large piano in the Seelie palace, comfortable and smiling, even if her hair is incredibly messed up and she’s in the equivalent of her pyjamas, glasses haphazardly perched on her face as she slapped them on in a hurry.]

I didn’t know there was actually a piano here--must be left over from a shardbearer, right?

[Occasionally the camera rocks back and forth as if whoever’s holding Kelsi’s locket is spinning it, but eventually it settles and Ryan answers as his free hand comes down to walk his fingers along the keys.]

Probably. Maybe you should just consider it a Christmas present?

Oh, yeah. I missed Christmas. [ She sounds nonchalant, of course, but anyone who actually spends two minutes with her can probably recognize she’s a little bummed about literally sleeping through her world’s celebration period. Good job, Kels. ] Hey--your locket? [ But she looks incredibly at home, hands already finding their place among the ivory keys. ]

[There’s a hum like Ryan’s not really paying attention, tone light when he speaks.]

Can’t remember if this one’s mine or yours. I kinda threw everything into one bag when we left the infirmary. But if you’re asking what I think you’re asking, the answer’s yes. [The chipper grin is practically visible just from the tone. He knows Kelsi is going to pick up on the implications immediately. He’s pulling her into the spotlight whether she wants it or not. Sorry.] ...hey. Know what we both missed this year? Christmas movie night.

I missed Peanuts! [Her lips turn downward, and it’s hard to tell if it’s a thoughtful pause or just her pouting before she starts playing one of her favourite tunes. It’s a little selfish of her not to play the main theme, but it was always the most fun to play. She looks up at Ryan while she plays, fingers gliding expertly across the keys like skates on ice.] Well, since you’re recording... I guess this is a little East High spirit for Drabwurld? This is something we do every year around this time, play and listen and watch stuff like this, so… Oh.

[She blinks.] I guess this is my belated present to you guys.

[Of course he’s recording, and it’s why the camera’s solely on Kelsi even as he talks.] Music’s kinda like the gift that keeps on giving, you know? And surprisingly Kelsi knows more than one song. [Is he teasing her? Yes he is.] Anyway she’ll be more than happy to take requests, too, won’t you, Kels?

If I can play it! [She’s still tapping away at the keys.] I know a lot more classical music, but I’m good with pop songs, too.

You’re good with a lot of things. [He’s just scolding her lightly as though they’re used to having this conversation, arguing about Kelsi’s skill level.] Guess now’s as good a time as any for musical education.

[ ooc: pink is kelsi, blue is ryan--responses will mostly come from kelsi, but ryan may threadjack! ]

[Now that's a song he actually knows! He's been sticking to the music he has in his cellphone since he arrived mostly out of homesickness, and Peanuts sure hits him right in the nostalgia.]

Sweet! You should ask the fairies if they can get you a dancing dog.

We could always just dress you up as snoopy. Can you dance?

Like a baby walking for the first time. [That translates to HELL NO.] I was supposed to be learning before I came here but... [A shrug.] Can you play the other Peanuts songs too?

[ Kelsi doesn't respond, but after a second of silence she begins to play Linus and Lucy, laughing to herself. She makes eye contact with Ryan and laughs as the other presses a few keys to help her out, even though she doesn't really need it. ]

Wait, you were trying to learn how to dance?! You should come over here, then! We'll give you a crash course. You'll be learning from Julliard, annnd I have more candy.

[ ...Did you just bribe someone with candy, Kelsi. ]

[A silly smile appears on his face as he listens to the song, a hand tapping on the desk on front of him... but he freezes when he hears Kelsi's offer.]

What-- Oooh, nonono, that's not what I-- oh boy. [He's shaking his hand and head. Geez, why can't he keep his mouth shut.] It was just a thing with my girlfriend, alright, she loves music too and for her I was trying to... yeah. I'm just fine here. Trust me, I'm from Manhattan, Julliard is a neighbor. Also there are lots of candy in the Station, but thanks.

[There's the sound of someone laughing under his breath in the background, followed by an incredulous "did you seriously just try to bribe someone with candy? I'm almost proud." that's directed at Kelsi. Though the camera's focused on the girl Ryan's just cutting in here really quick to say one thing.]

I don't know how many people she's tried pawning off on me for dance lessons, so you wouldn't be the first. [A pause, and then--] It's still not a bad skill to have though. Just in case.

[Dave is a little worried he's the one getting laughed at at first, since that's usually the case. But it turns out he's wrong, so he gives Ryan a chance.]

Iiiii kinda know that feeling, I'm always the guy they go to for homework. [He squints his eyes at the locket.] In case of what exactly? Being attacked by the synchronized zombies from Thriller?

Yeeeah that's never me. [Homework and Ryan? Not a good mix. Still though it's just a throw-away comment so he's raising his voice back to a normal volume.]

Okay now that--...actually wouldn't be too bad considering everything else running around here. But no! In case you need an extra boost of endurance, agility or flexibility. I know I've been using it a lot when it comes to my swordfighting. Kinda like Kelsi's been using her music for her healing magic. You just never know.

You mean... dancing as exercise? [Dave looks down at his hands, considering the idea. Ryan mentioned swordfighting, even these regular teens get involved in it?] You guys had to defend yourselves?

Guess you could say that. [Another shrug. He uses it for exercise, he's studying it, it's pretty much all the same to him. But maybe he should elaborate.] Not at home, no. I mean we're from New Mexico originally. The most threatening thing we have out there are snakes and coyotes, I think, and New York's…New York. [Dave mentioned Manhattan, he probably knows what Ryan means.] But Kelsi's gone on quests and I've been in a few battles here. This? [And his hand comes into view of the camera as he gestures to Kelsi.] It's just nice to deal with something normal.

Ah, yeah, I meant here, not a home. But I do know about New York, lived there all my life. [And he has a bad reputation in the area too, sigh.] I do like normal, the Station has been helping with that. A lot. I guess that means we have to appreciate it while we can? [It does NOT sound promising.]

Aren't you scared there's going to be problems with the station? Since it's neutral territory? [ IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU'RE MOVING IN THERE OR SOMETHING OK ]

[WOW KELSI WAY TO KILL HIS LITTLE SPOT OF PEACE]

I've been coming and going between the Station and the castle actually... But is any place really safe in war anyway?

[ Great, now you've killed HER little spot of peace. Mentally, at least. But she instantly chippers up and does a few runs of Oh, Good Grief!. Probably for irony purposes. ]

Maybe I should go to the station more often. I hear you can charge your phone, and--Oh, wait! Did you come with a phone on you?

[ And, hastily: ] did that phone come with any music?

[He catches on the irony and chuckles, hearing Peanuts again is enough to make him forget the depressing subject (for now) and go back to the topic at hand. At her question, he nods, and reaches for his phone out of the screen while talking to her.]

You can, yeah. I've printed some pictures, used some apps... If you come by, you should check the computers. We can't communicate with other worlds but we can receive media. [He shows Kelsi his phone and presses play to let her hear a little something by ~~the movie OST~~ One Republic.] And you can search for more music. I only have the stuff my girlfriend got me.

[ She stops playing to listen, tilting her head to the side, and shoots an odd look over at Ryan. ] That sounds like One Republic... But I haven't heard this song before. Is it a secret track or something?

It is One Republic... but I don't think it's a secret anything? [His girlfriend played the song in the radio after all, that can't be hidden, right? Let him check the song information on his phone.] Yep, third track from their second album.

They have a second album?!

Ohmygosh--what year are you from?!

Oh, right, that would explain... [He shakes his head, not a Kelsi, just a gesture for himself.] I'm from 2010. If you know the band then I assume we haven't that much time difference between us?

Late 2008. Like October...[At least they're getting closer in time to people. That's a start.] Dreaming Out Loud hasn't even been out for a year yet.

[Dave is thinking exactly the same thing. He's glad to see more people from a similar era.]

Ah, that's-- that's their first album, right? Sorry, music isn't best subject, that's more of Becky's area. [And he misses her even more now.] But hey, good to see people that actually speak my time-language.

Yeah, their first album. [It's okay man, music is their expertise, and Ryan's is also apparently putting his foot in his mouth. He doesn't have to ask who Becky is, but there's a slightly sympathetic grin as he brushes past the subject. If Dave wants to talk about her, he can, but no need for them to really push the subject.]

That's exactly what I was thinking. It's kind of crazy how many people can be from earth and still be completely foreign to what you're used to. Drabwurld's like a real live history class that way. I never thought I'd live in a world where Skype, iPods and MTV reality shows weren't staples of culture.

[He pauses at that, thinking about his master, his old age and the years he skipped. Is this how he feels? He owns some sympathy when he gets to see him again.]

MTV reality shows are staples of our culture? [He pulls a face. That's kinda sad.] Ah, but yeah, I know what you mean. The lack of electricity and transport is just... [He huffs. He needs his science, ok.]

I didn't say they were good staples. [But sometimes things just happen to be on that are sort of kind of interesting. Sort of.] But you know exactly what I'm talking about and doesn't that kinda prove a point? [A grin.] I'm still trying to get used to everything being so backwards. I miss being able to travel whenever I want to. And the whole electricity thing. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder but I'm pretty sure that doesn't work in this case.

I miss my music mixers. [ A pout and a whine. That's all she's contributing to this conversation. ]
