Video - Both Courts

[ The feed flickers on, displaying an elf seated in one of the more comfortable seats that the library of Caer Glaem has to offer. Nuada is garbed in his customary black, pale hair hanging loosely over his shoulders, and stares straight at the locket. ]

Good day, gentlefolk. I seek the fell beast known as Greenleaf. If you are near the environs of Caer Glaem, my lord, I can be found in the library. I would like to meet you.

[ And now that the invitation (or challenge, depending on point of view) is out of the way: ]

I also seek stories, or information, from those who may share their worlds with my kind. My name is Nuada Silverlance, son of King Balor, of the Clan Bethmoora. Some of my people - our gods - fled from home many years ago, and I have long searched for their location.

Therefore, if anyone would like to share their legends, I would be a most appreciative audience.

[ The feed shuts off a moment later. ]

Oh...

[Kara learned something today. She was going to have to find a way to use fell properly in a conversation. Even though she didn't miss school, she did want to learn things. And being called 'little wolf' by Nuada made her feel stupidly happy for some reason.]

I used to be human, but then I was Changed. I wonder what it would've been like to be born with my wolf.

Anyways, why do you want to find the Greenleaf monster? Did he hurt you?

[That last bit was said with a bit of a growl in her voice. Despite the fact that Nuada most likely could mop the floor with Kara, her wolf was dominant and she was driven to be protective.]

[The fact that the monster hadn't hurt Nuada was good, but the question about her change... She was tempted to make something up, but she was naturally an honest girl. Nuada reminded her of Asil, which was comforting, so she decided to answer, though she wasn't really looking at the locket when she did. It was a very, very unpleasant memory.]

I was ten when a rogue werewolf - they'd be considered fell, I guess [there, she used it in a sentence] - attacked me. He ripped me apart... Josef said 'savage' was a better description. He left me for dead and I almost died. That's the only way to be Changed.

...most humans don't survive the Change, cause you're like hanging onto life by a tiny thread which lets the werewolf magic make you a werewolf. You stop being human. So, that's what happened to me. The Marrock says I'm the youngest ever to survive.

[Her eyes riveted back to the locket and took on the golden sheen they did when she was a wolf for a moment. It was in reaction to the command - her wolf was a dominant - but she didn't take it as a challenge. No, she'd accepted Nuada as being more dominant than her.]

I will. They told me Josef killed him, but I guess the dead sometimes show up here.

[Her wolf would want the chance to sink her fangs into that rogue, but Kara was terrified of him. She didn't want him to show up at all.]

I will. [awkward teenager pause] Can I go with you to see this Greenleaf beast? I won't get in the way.

Okay. I hope so. Will you tell me about him when you come back?

[She may be looking for excuses to hang out with Nuada.]

I do. I like to think there is always something to learn in a story. It's just not always easy to see. Sometimes it take a couple tellings before it's learned.
