[ Sif is not bothering with trying to mask the marks of grief on her face, the shine of unshed tears in her eyes and the dark circles underneath them. She is tired, and there is little sense in pretending as if she has not been touched by recent events.

When she speaks her voice is flat and a little huskier than usual, but her words are uttered calmly and without hesitation. ]

I know not what friends he made in this place, but he always had a particular gift for making people think well of him so I suspect it was no different here, and so in case he is missed by some of you I must inform you that Thor Odinson is no longer in this realm. I know not why it could not hold him but... he is gone.

[ And what does that even mean? Is he dead? Is he back home? Is he stuck somewhere in limbo?

And what is she supposed to do? Hold a funeral? Some sort of ceremony to honor his memory?

She sighs, finding that there really is no more that she wishes to say even if some part of her thinks that perhaps she should. ]

It's rough. I know it.

Lost a few friends of my own recently. Hopefully they're back home doing all the things I miss right now.

A comforting thought.

[ She isn't sure if she can believe the same, but that is what she would wish for Thor at least. That he is now in Midgard with his Jane.

She does not wish to speak of such things to a stranger, however, and so she shifts the focus of the conversation away from herself. ]

What is it that you miss?

[Chloe smiles a bit, as she just recently had this discussion with Steve Rogers.]

The food. I really miss the food.

And modern conveniences.

What about you?

Things I could not have even if I were to go home.

[ Asgard is a changed place, and the things she loved most about it are no longer there to be found. ]

Ah, it can't be helped then.

That's too bad. Sometimes, it's hard to let go.

That it is, and yet we must do it.

[ She smiles a little, though it is so very far from a happy expression. ]

And perhaps in time, if I can get back where I belong, some of the things I miss will return as well. At the very least there I had a purpose. There is little of that to be found here, I find.

[ Now there is something she misses. Feeling like she knows where her place in the world is. Feeling like she has a mission, a job to do. ]

One makes their own purposes. Though sometimes, ideas are a little lacking.

[Chloe is doing her best, but she has similar feelings in this place.]

Aren't you a seelie? Isn't your purpose to fight for the monarchs?

Why would it be?

[ She does not particularly feel as if she owes the monarchs anything, the only reason she is doing what she can to help the seelie side get stronger at the moment is to protect Asgard. ]

That's why we're all here, isn't it?

[Though the tone of her voice says that Chloe isn't really taking part in it much.]

If you want to go home, as you said, the only way is to win the war.

I am only interested in preserving Asgard. The price for returning is too high.

[ She does not allow herself to think on it much, but in truth she has more or less accepted that she will never again see her home world. She cannot stomach the thought of destroying worlds simply so that she can go home.

If she did that she would be no better than Loki. ]

So there you had a purpose, and here you don't, so you're depressed.

But you don't want to do what you'd have to do to return.

Sounds like you need to get your head outta the mud, dear. Either do or don't. If you don't, sulking about it does no good. Find yourself a new purpose.

[Harsh, perhaps, but Chloe isn't the most tender hearted at times. At least she tries not to be.]

[ Sif isn't either, so she doesn't mind much. She merely shrugs a little, it's not as if Chloe is telling her anything she didn't already know.

One side of her mouth quirks up in a sort of half-smile. ]

All in good time.

[ First she is going to grieve a bit. Then she is going to get back to worrying about the people who she cares about that are still left in this realm. ]

[The way Sif responds actually impresses Chloe. At least she didn't huff about and hang up like a teenage girl.]

If you ever see the Black Pearl about, come aboard for a drink. It can't fix your problems, but it can sure as hell muddle them for awhile.

[ And Sif on her end is very appreciative of Chloe's response in turn, and in spite of everything it makes her smile. ]

I am not sure if you have anything strong enough to actually affect me, but I am most certainly willing to give it a try.

[ Chloe seems like a woman she could get along with. ]

[Chloe was thinking the same thing about getting along with Sif.]

I accept that challenge. We'll find you something.

[ That earns Chloe a quiet chuckle. ]

Then I shall look forward to that.
