( seelie + unseelie ) video. it's not giving up, it's letting go.
[ A video, again, from the resident chatterbox, though this time he will attempt to be more... ah, concise in his words. It's a delicate matter, after all, and he needs to be careful.
There's little reason to smile, all things considered, and so he doesn't, though his expression remains gentle and with visible concern to every line of it. ]
There are two that I seek. Two elves that do not bear shards, but that have been in my service nevertheless.
[ They are one and the same, but with appearances different and names also different. And so he skirts around the subject of Celegorm, though there are some that will know no matter how he poses his questions, how he gives the descriptions. ]
One of the name Andrion, with hair black as the night and sun-kissed skin, his face fair, his features soft, his attitude earnest and merry though wary of strangers all the same. Naruthir, a pup barely grown into adulthood now, was his constant companion.
The other is of hair fair, cut short at the nape, sharp featured and imposingly tall and broad in the way of a fine warrior. What name he would give a stranger, I cannot tell you, but he is a hunter through and through, a wolf trapped in the body of an elf.
[ His pulse quickens, though it does not show outwardly, and Legolas gives a small smile, the perfect cover for some nerves. ]
I would welcome any information on their whereabouts- [ A pause, weighed with little hope- ] or on their fates; and of course I could reward for it, should you desire so.
[ Done with his request, he snaps the locket shut before his features twist in pain, from the way the scar on his chest flares up with a dull ache of memory. ]

[ an elf. sansa trails free. she frowns. the notion is strange to her -- strange to hear. but it piques her interest, and so she wants to ask about it. ]

Ah, he is much like the fine beast, you see, and oft likens himself to it as well, though he is an elf through and through otherwise.

[ her cheeks colour. ] I thought -- beg pardon, I was mistaken.
private video »
My words mislead you, there is nothing to pardon! I think, had I not known better, I would have wondered myself should another say it so.

[ to ride out into this world. ]

And restless too, as my father would say. A poor elf I make, with how little patience I have!

He would leave as he pleased oft, as his temper driven him, but he would always return.
And now full moon has passed with no trace nor word.

[ No wolf was he. Not that one, that lowly kinslayer who would have taken you from me. Cool as Thranduil's tone is, it severs through any notion of caring where Celegorm is or what he is getting up to; that he isn't around his son is satisfaction enough for Legolas's father who saw his child beaten, broken and bloody at that very bastard's hands.
His interest shifts, pointed and brooking no more talk of the one he finds distasteful for Legolas to voice concern about. ]
Andrion has left you? That seems unlikely.
[ With the way Legolas makes fast friends, anyway. ]
private video »
That Andrion was simply Celegorm's alias as he posed as a native, he doesn't mention either. Though there is a discomfort in him at the idea that he is omitting it from Thranduil. ]
I have not thought it possible either, yet I have not heard from him in a full moon's turn and some days.
private video »
YEAH, SAVOUR THAT GUILT.]Your friend will return to you if he is able. If you wish to seek him out, then do so.
private video »
He'll cry himself to sleep with it...]I will cling to hope, faint as it may be. [ G U I L T. He swallows. ] I may send riders, when I hear nothing from the fellow shardbearers.
private video »
NO, DON'T GO THAT FAR.]I never met this Andrion, was he so close a companion of yours? You have mentioned him not at all to me, not before this day.
private video »
You have met him, father, under a different name and a different set of features. [ He glances up to the feed, gaze flickering there and back, then- ] Andrion is a persona, a disguise Celegorm had used after being returned to the living.
private video »
There will be no search for him. You will continue as if he never touched your life at all.
private video »
I merely wish to know what happened, [ and why- ] for... a peace of mind.
[ Least he lives for all of his long, long life in uncertainty and doubt that one day he may be thrust to stand against him once more. ]
Video
I know the one of which you speak. And that light has vanished from this world. He... He shall be the first in the Hall of the Remembered.
private voice
[ Legolas remains composed, at least in voice; there is reason why he responds with only his voice. ]
private
When I felt flames I could not see licking my skin and the emptiness that followed, I knew Ambarussa was lost, my worst fear confirmed. I felt a bite in my wrist, and to this day there is a statue of Maitimo missing a hand. Everyone else believes it broken or incomplete and do not understand why I left it that way. I have felt deep, cold pains like those of arrows and swords, and I have counted the loss of each and every child of mine that left the blessed shores. A mother knows, Laiqualassë. And it haunts me still.
But my Tyelkormo... When we were reunited, beyond all hope I had, I could feel his fire warming my heart. But now it has gone cold and empty once more. He is not here.
[By some miracle, her voice does not break, but the despair it holds runs ocean-deep.]
private
My thanks for telling me.
[ A silence follows, drawn out terribly as he tries to find his words. When he is over the shock, when he is done with his strange, strange grief-relief-anger, he will have words of comfort to offer, proper condolences and sympathy to a grieving mother. For now, however, he feels like he's been struck through the very chest. ]
Your grief must be great, to lose a beloved child time and again, and I wish it was not so, but now you must... excuse me.
private
...I am sorry, Laiqualassë.
private
[ He sounds just a hint frantic. With no shard, Celegorm could not have returned, but... darkness, void, nothingness. The Halls of Mandos are not possible to reach from here, he thinks. ]
I promised him safety...
[ And he might have sent him to his death, instead. ]
private
private
[ And not only for the brands he bears, but for the ... better memories too, strange as it may sound. There were those. ]
private
Will you tell me how you keep it? For it is surely not filled with kindness. I know the dark that twisted my child. I will not deny it. But that fury... It is something Morla should see.
private
He inhales sharply with a soft wheeze and his voice sounds openly pained when he finally does speak. ]
... the grief is too fresh still, and the pain of those memories runs too deep. [ Strained, on the very verge of breaking. ] Not even my father has heard the story, I cannot share it.
[ He is not ready to speak of it. To anyone. ]
Re: private
How it pains us all. You especially. I will not force it.
[And then... Something changes. It is very slight, but a hint of a crack in the façade. Something dangerous. Like the first faint wisp of smoke over a volcano long thought inactive. That there lies a devastating rage behind that calm expression.]
The things he thought were right. The fear of the creature he had become. I will see to it none forget what it means to serve Morla.

Make certain you, yourself, do not fall to what games your Queen plays. Take care in all your dealings with her.

[ A fact she is no longer sure how to feel about at all. ]
private voice
[ Celegorm comes and goes, Legolas has experienced that already, and he himself sent him on tasks. But before now he had always kept in touch. ]
private voice
[ Sif does not understand it, now that she knows of it, why Legolas would be asking for someone who made him suffer so. Then again she does not know the full story, and she made a promise to Thranduil to not speak of the matter to Legolas. All she can do is trust that Legolas had his reasons, and knowing him they were good ones, or at least sprung out of his goodness. ]
private voice
Legolas breathes out quietly, there's a long, long moment of silence before he responds. ]
Aye, it seems to be so. His mother believes it true as well...
private voice
Sif waits patiently through that silence, thinking that if Legolas had nothing more to say to her he would have cut off their connection. ]
I would not doubt her on this, she is an insightful woman under most circumstances and when it comes to her children...
private voice
[ He wheezes in a sharp inhale, then breathes out quietly. ]
There is nothing that awaits a shardless elf of Arda in death, a void, emptiness; the Halls of Mandos cannot be reached from here, I do not think.
[ If they would even open for a kinslayer, one so cruel too. ]
private voice
You traveled here from Arda, did you not? His spirit is as wild as any I have known, it would not surprise me if it could find the way back. Or somewhere else. He might think it an adventure.
[ Comfort does not come easy to her, being a woman more prone to offering harsh truths, but she does try to be kind when she can, and Legolas has suffered enough. ]
no subject
There is still far too much we do not know about this world, aye, and your words ring true to me. Perhaps free of the [ curse- ] Oath he will at last find peace, or happiness.
My thanks, Sif.
