[ and so the slayer cracks open her locket once again. not, as some might anticipate, to comment aloud about the woeful state of animal welfare in these lands (as others already have. instead, she has a far more personal bone to pick. some domestic fat to chew. ]

Uhm. Pop quiz: where's the best place in the Drabwurld to raise a...teenager? [ she almost says 'kid', but corrects herself at the last moment. last thing she needs is yet another i'm not a kid argument with dawn. ] You know. Temporarily. Until we find a way outta this Ren-Faire disaster. Until then, I wanna know it all. Crime stats; outlet malls; hip-but-age-appropriate dance clubs. Preferably the kind where they definitely don't serve minors. [ each item is ticked off on her fingers. ]

O-oh! And schools. Please tell me there's at least one rinky-dink town that includes whatever counts as high school's wacky medieval cousin. [ because dawn summers is not dropping out by default. or so buffy vainly believes. she just hopes there are no hellmouths lurking about to interfere with math class. ] Knowledge is power, right?

[ funny. she never cared that much about the plight of kidnapped teenagers before now. but with the sudden arrival of the little sister, everything's changed. time to settle down and find herself a dependable chore chart, figure out a good curfew, and start disapproving of all of dawn's new friends. ]

[This girl... "speaks Earth", Dave realizes. And is the accent American? Hard to tell when this silly language they got stuck with, but he knows he won't let the chance of speaking to someone from home. Hope you don't mind more of a wonderful nasally voice.]

If what I found on the library is accurate, I'd stay away from Mair. It sounds like , ah- "the wacky medieval cousin" of Las Vegas.

I've never been there and trust me, it's not on my life's to do list. [A pause while he considers the options.] I can't think of much an average teen from Earth will enjoy around here, unless she likes renaissance fairs.

[He rubs his forehead as he thinks. He's still new so he doesn't have that much knowledge of this world yet. But after all the time he spent in the library, he wants to try to help.]

Ah, there's the Station? But I don't know if you consider computers and videogames a decent education. In my experience, girls who like clubs don't exactly go for videogames too.

Sorry for dropping awful high school memories on you, but I did say if. [Don't mind his sarcasm, he isn't the best at interacting with girls. Or with people in general.] You may want to check what they consider "minors" here too. Because... medieval traditions.

I agree with you, alright. [Hands up. He's innocent!] I'm just saying other people around don't. So when they say minor, they may not mean the same thing as you do. I'm preeeetty sure fifteen is already drinking age.

[He puts a finger up, is about to say something, changes his mind and drops it.] I was about to say something about finding a monastery, but I'm not sure you'll find one of those since... fairy land and all. Is she Seelie at least?

Alright, alright, I swear I'm not trying to profile, but the stories I keep hearing about the Unseelie lands come from a horror film. Soooo... yeah. Try finding somewhere safe and... I'd say neutral but I don't know if that's possible outside the Station.

There's a place called the Desolate Lands where the lockets don't have "signal" and apparently you need to be some kind of Superman to get out of there. They have banshees, their own version of Nessie who happens to feed on people plus the usual trolls. Oh, and the Vegas wannabe I mentioned? That's there too.

[When he said he spent time in teh library, he meant it.]

I don't know about the people, from what I've seen so far there are nice people and rude people like everywhere else? Stranger danger?

Is there such a thing as a shareholder that actually likes this place? [Because for each good thing he finds three bad ones.]
