Looks like we're getting the new arrivals again. My name's Steve Rogers, sorry I missed the feast. I should probably start by telling you that it doesn't matter which court drafted you into this war, and that it's not some shard inside of you that makes you important. But I think a lot of us already know that.

Another thing that I've learned is that you can get so focused on this world, you start to lose touch with the little things that you love about your own.

[The subject that he's about to bring up is also full of jubilation and heartbreak, love and victory and loss. And in some cases, betrayal.

For me it's baseball. Does anyone else play? Because I couldn't help but notice that there's plenty of field around here. Maybe in the spring we could find a couple of bats, or even just toss a ball around for a little R and R.

See, the thing I love about baseball is that both sides get a fair shot. Everyone on the team wears the same uniform, from the manager to the rookie, and it's not over until the last out. It's for everyone, doesn't matter if you're a little bit smaller than the other players. If you can swing a bat or throw a ball, you might just make the hall of fame. It's about hope.

Plus it's a heck of a lot more fun than fighting.

[He gives a slightly sheepish smile when he's done, because Captain America waxing poetic about America's pastime, where's his handful of apple pie.]

So I guess all I really wanted to say is don't forget where you came from. You can even share what you miss about it, if you want. I'm not really much of a hunter, so I've got the time.

Good. And if it turns out that you don't like it, we'll give caber tossing a try.

Och, I don't know about that. Takes a few good years to muster any kind of strength for caber tossin'. I'd hate tae be cheatin'.

[He can't help a mischievous little smile at that.]

It's okay, I'm stronger than I look. Might not have as much style, though.

[That mischievous smile is met with one of her own.]

Ah, well, I'll just have tae go easy on ye. Wouldn't want tae humiliate someone on his first caber toss.

I appreciate it. Maybe you could give me a quick lesson sometime, just so I know what I'm getting into.

I could maybe set up a lesson or two. I doubt most of th' people here have ever done caber tossin' before.

[She inclines her head.]

It's just a title of his. He's known for huntin' bears an' goin' up against a demon bear back home that we call Mor'du with nothin' but a sword an' his bare hands.

[His eyebrows raise a little bit at that story.]

Your dad sounds like quite a guy. I bet you miss him.

Oh really? Well if they ever show up here, you can tell them I'm up for a little competition.

[She nods, pursing her lips together.]

Aye. He an' mam an' my brothers. I'm lucky I have Angus here.

[Steve comments with a faint smile.]

Aye. An' that's not countin' th' rest of th' clan.

[At the question, there's a whicker and a horse pushes his face into the locket screen against his rider, causing her to laugh and push at him gently.]

This is Angus.

[Oh, so that's what a horse would look like if it was given the serum. Not that he would ever approve of that.]

Looks like somebody heard us talking about him.

[That's actually a pretty accurate description of Angus lbr.]

He has a bad habit of that. [She pulls a small piece of root vegetable out of a pouch at her side and feeds it to him, patting the side of his neck after.] He's been a good friend tae me since I was a wee lass, an' a blessin' here.

I can tell. You're lucky, those are pretty hard to find.
