[ It's been a couple of weeks since he's last shown up over the lockets (gone mostly forgotten thanks to other events), but when Eren finally makes another appearance, he seems a little exasperated. ]

I need a mechanic. [ Yeah, that's the greeting. ] Or—just anyone who can repair something for me. My maneuvering gear is busted, and I can't get it to work again on my own, so I'm looking for anyone who's willing to give it a shot.

I figured. Normal swords are more common around here than what I've got.

[ A little irritating, since it means refueling and getting extra blades is a hassle. Probably more so for fixing the damn thing. ]

I don't mind showing it to you, whenever you can, but I don't know where you are.

[dragonring]

Yeah, any kind of mechanism more complex that a wagon isn't exactly heard of around here from what I've seen so far.

[At least this guy's thing actually works, Dave thinks. He's lucky. His phone and calculator won't even turn on.]

Ah, right. I'm in the Seelie castle, I got here recently.

[ Granted, the level of technology here is nearly identical to where he's from, so Eren doesn't think much of it. Except when someone points it out, which he finds kind of strange, but anyway. ]

Seelie? [ Well, just his luck. ] Sounds like we're both going to have to do some travelling if this is gonna work.

[dragonring]

...you are Unseelie, aren't you.

[Ugh, he just got here but he's already hating this whole "two sides" deal. Dave sighs as he rubs the back of his neck, thinking of their options.]

Look, I'm new and I'm still getting hang of the whole situation. Learning. But-- if this isn't urgent and you don't get other offers, then... I want to go the station in some days, beginning of next week maybe? They keep telling me that place's the closest thing to home I'll find and if it's true, then there may be a chance I can find better tools there.

[andallbite]

Yeah, I'm all the way in Caer Scima right now.

[ People are everywhere, though, so his chances of having to move out were high to begin with. Being on opposite ends of the continent was a bit inconvenient, though. ]

I wanted to get this done sooner instead of later– [ Because who knows what else may come up and when. ] –but I can't ask too much out of anyone offering to do this for me, either.

[ Meaning, hey, if he's gotta wait a week, then... Beggars can't be choosers. ]

[Sorry, Eren. But Dave's magic isn't working fine, and he isn't going anywhere until he's sure he won't start a fire in the forest by accident.

He nods in agreement.] I know it's not, ah, exactly the same, but I'd love to get on it sooner too. I've never heard of something like this weapon of yours, I want to see how it works.

[He tilts his head as he thinks of a question.] You aren't a new arrival, right? Is it really that difficult to travel around even with those rings I keep hearing about?

[andallbite]

[ Who has seen it before in the Drabwurld? Probably no one. It's a little jarring. ]

It's been a couple of months already. [ So, he hasn't been around for a while, but his new guy shine is fading rapidly, there. ] The rings make it easier, but you should be fine if you take a horse with you. I wouldn't try walking everywhere.

[dragonring]

I'm not walking anywhere, trust me on that one. I guess I'll have to learn to ride...

[Where is the subway when you need it? This guy has been spoiled by the big apple.]

Can I ask more about your weapon? [His scientist sense is tingling.] What do you use it for?

[ His tone strikes Eren as a little odd—like he was resigning himself to picking up riding. As far as Eren knows, horses are a way of life. You'd benefit from it, man. ]

It's something everyone in the military has. [ Topic of horses aside... ] Learning how to use it is an essential part of every soldier's training.

[dragonring]

[Engines are the way of life, dude, get with the program. And that means yes, Eren is right about Dave's tone.

Eyebrows rise when he hears the explanation.] Iiii didn't see that one coming. It's not some kind of like, technology the government doesn't want civilians to see, right?

[andallbite]

It probably is. [ Definitely is. A lot of its construction is top secret stuff. ] But the government isn't here, and I can't get a replacement like I usually could.

[dragonring]

[That's what he thought. Still, he wants to see this thing. And Eren is right, the government isn't here so...] If by any chance it has some mechanism to protect it from curious eyes, then I'll totally need better tools. Sooo... yeah, the Station is our best hope.

[andallbite]

Would it? [ A pause. ] Well, I guess we'll find out. I don't really care what we have to do, as long as the thing gets fixed.

[dragonring]

No problem. I'll see you there then, eh-- right. I'm David Stutler. [Wave of his hand.]

[andallbite]

[ Oh, right. Names. ]

Eren Yeager.

[dragonring]

[Yeah, those are a thing. Dave nods.] Nice to meet you, Eren. I'll see you at the station, I'll let you know when I get there.

[And with that he finishes this conversation.]
