[The locket opened to Javik’s face, mouth pulled down in a scowl. He was inside somewhere dimly lit, and a horse nickering could be heard not too far off. Without demon dogs slowing him down, he’d made it to Treun in good time, arriving just before sundown. His attempt to check in with a few people, however, had reminded him of House’s silence since he’d last seen him at Samhain. If he’d angered the doctor, he expected to hear about it rather than being met with static. That left few other options.]

I have attempted to contact the human doctor Gregory House several times this past month. He has not responded, and this ridiculous device will not even recognize his presence.

[He worked his jaw for a second, looking as though he were chewing on something bitter. First Daud, then Will, and now the doctor? Who was next, himself or Maglor? He was no stranger to losing allies, but when they just vanished it was infuriating.]

I believe he is gone from this world. When I return to the Station, I will inspect his room to confirm it. If you know anything otherwise, you will inform me.

[ He snapped the locket shut, ending the video.]

I last saw him during Samhain.

[That was actually debatable. He and House had both been pretty drunk.]

I last saw him before that, but- I can't get in touch with him over the lockets either.

[ Sudden realization- ] If he vanished from the Station, I hope someone there is looking after that cleg.

[Oh, that damn cleg. Daud's legacy, he supposed, leaving them with that awful beast. He didn't think House had taken it out much, though.]

The stable hands will likely expect payment of some sort to continue caring for it. Perhaps it could be moved back to Caer Scima.

Caer Scima would probably be a good idea. They can help him heal.

I'm traveling right now, but if you can't find someone to help you move him, I can do it. He likes me well enough. [ Probably because she'd bribed the cleg with apples and was able to take him out a little bit to stretch his wings, though she hadn't ridden him. Just led him. ]

I do not know when I will be leaving Treun. If you return to the Station before me, that would be best, and if he is available we may need Maglor's assistance.

[Elves were naturals with horses and horse... things.]

I don't know when I'll be back, either. I'm on my way to Daonna. Maglor could probably handle it, though.

If I do not hear from him soon, I will contact him. There may not be a good time for the doctor to have gone missing, but now is highly inconvenient.

[He wasn't worried about kidnapping, since the Fox seemed to enjoy flaunting what he did. Still, with everyone spread across the map, where were they supposed to start?]

It's- usually inconvenient.

[ She's just saying. ]

[Don't start getting all sassy on him now.]

I am aware of that. [He bared his teeth, before looking away from the locket and reining it back in. Snapping at her didn't change anything.] I apologize. I simply do not understand our place in this war if we are so easily discarded.

[ Whoa. Nice dental work. ]

It's okay. I don't either- it's frustrating, especially since there's nothing we can do about it.

That we know of, no. The loss of someone with his medical experience is unacceptable. [Getting Javik to admit to a friendship was as likely as the Fox dropping off of the face of the earth.] In my war, we lost people to death and the enemy. These we could account for, and adjust, and while they were unpredictable, at least they were expected.

I- honestly have to wonder if maybe they didn't try to keep him. He wasn't exactly involved like they wanted him to be.

He was no less involved than I. They rewarded me with boons for defending myself. I did not kill worms, mad fairies and dogs because they wanted me to do so, but because the alternative was death or injury.

Then there really isn't any sense to it.

There isn't any sense to anything about this world. [He gave a heavy sigh.] Once I return to the Station I will have more answers, and I will see to the cleg.

Will you let me know what you find?

Yes. [He nodded once along with the word.] I need to find lodging for the night. We will speak again before the end of the month.

[He was going to need the luck if things fell through and he had to deal with that cleg himself.]
