[ The message is broadcast twice, from two separate lockets. The background is a small inn near Daonna, Waver is in the forefront, while Kaldur has maps spread out across a table, and is quietly casting on the maps and making frantic annotations. ]

Good evening. As many of you have heard by now, much has been made about the threat of Reynard the Fox at Redgate. Doubtlessly, you’ve also noticed that since that announcement no other word has come out of the fortress. This is, to say the least, very alarming.

[ Kaldur looks up, briefly, to face the camera. ]

I am attempting to scry for the locations of individuals known to be at Redgate or near Redgate at this time, in light of the threat Reynard poses, in hopes that more information can be found.

If they have already engaged Reynard, and are trying to fight him, hopefully, we will be able to find out.

Until then, or until we have direct information from Saralegui himself, I would like to ask that everyone who is intending to lend aid to Redgate gather in Daonna. This gives us all an opportunity to group up, prepare, plan, and present a united front if things are as bad as they seem right now. Whenever we have word, we can act together. If you are en route, come to Daonna. If you are already up the mountains, please return.

I realize that I have no authority to enforce this, but I do ask that you heavily consider this option before forging on ahead.

[ In the background, Kaldur looks as though he is about to curse, and pulls Waver’s attention towards what he has found briefly, before setting at it again, and speaking towards the feed. ]

I also urge those who are heading to Redgate to gather with us, until we gain more information and can adequately prepare for what we will be faced with.

I have been lucky to have friends with... alternative methods of transport. And, I confess, I have not explored this country quite so much as I probably ought to have.

I'm working on acquiring some for myself. I'd ask for a clegg, but I'm not at that level of horsemanship yet.

One of the precious few advantages of errand running for Morla though was the travel.

[ Kaldur isn't all that sure that most horses would carry him. He is sort of a fish. ]

That was something I had never thought asking the monarchs for, when I assisted on some of their errands, though I can see the benefits to it.

[There are horse-fish, admittedly.]

Yeah. Believe me, I'm likely to try and expand my travel repertoire over the next few months. This has taught me how key it is to find ways to overcome transportation issues here.

Most boons that I have heard of, however, require that one has been there, previously. [ Which is less helpful if you are trying to rescue someone who has been teleported to the ass-backward end of nowhere. ]

Yes, that's correct. The limit is well. Why you want something that can fly to wherever, I suppose.

One could always ask for the ability to fly. [ Which makes your limit your endurance. It would serve Kaldur well, if he couldn't already swim very fast. ] Though a mount would allow for more luggage. [ Actually, he just kind of wants Miss Martian's bioship. ]

And more rations, which I think are the bigger priority.

I'd assume you would pack food with everything else? [ His version of travel is for missions. Not entirely sure Kaldur understands the concept of plane-fights for vacations. That's what fairy rings boom-tubes are for. ]

But yes, another benefit to a mode of transportation, over one's own self.

--True, but I'd probably want to keep my food and drink in bags that aren't my saddle bags.

I'd kill for a railroad here.

It wouldn't work, even if we built one through reverse-engineering. [ Because magic and technology are allergic to teach other, apparently. ]

You'd think steam power wouldn't even qualify as technology--

I'd imagine you might be able to get something passable set up with mills, but— [ Kaldur shrugs. He's used to obnoxiously high-tech levels or underwater magitech; he doesn't exactly have much of a frame of reference for this time period in rough Earth-history. ]

Beyond that, doomed. [Waver laughs, shaking his head at himself.] Maybe one day, the Station beyond it's borders. Hell of a pipe dream.

I suppose if we are here long enough, the world might slowly industrialize? If we start with the mill's who knows? [ It would never happen, but it's a hilarious thought. ]

At the very least, you'd be able to get rich off flour.
