[ The message is broadcast twice, from two separate lockets. The background is a small inn near Daonna, Waver is in the forefront, while Kaldur has maps spread out across a table, and is quietly casting on the maps and making frantic annotations. ]

Good evening. As many of you have heard by now, much has been made about the threat of Reynard the Fox at Redgate. Doubtlessly, you’ve also noticed that since that announcement no other word has come out of the fortress. This is, to say the least, very alarming.

[ Kaldur looks up, briefly, to face the camera. ]

I am attempting to scry for the locations of individuals known to be at Redgate or near Redgate at this time, in light of the threat Reynard poses, in hopes that more information can be found.

If they have already engaged Reynard, and are trying to fight him, hopefully, we will be able to find out.

Until then, or until we have direct information from Saralegui himself, I would like to ask that everyone who is intending to lend aid to Redgate gather in Daonna. This gives us all an opportunity to group up, prepare, plan, and present a united front if things are as bad as they seem right now. Whenever we have word, we can act together. If you are en route, come to Daonna. If you are already up the mountains, please return.

I realize that I have no authority to enforce this, but I do ask that you heavily consider this option before forging on ahead.

[ In the background, Kaldur looks as though he is about to curse, and pulls Waver’s attention towards what he has found briefly, before setting at it again, and speaking towards the feed. ]

I also urge those who are heading to Redgate to gather with us, until we gain more information and can adequately prepare for what we will be faced with.

[ well, that's definitely bad news. but zuko's used to it when reynard's involved. ]

I can only teleport wherever I've been. I'd have to walk the rest of the way. [ which is a bummer to zuko, but considering he likes walking so much, especially in the company of a non-stop chatterbox, he'd probably get to redgate if he teleported to where he had stopped by nightfall. ]

[ but that's a familiar name. his brows crease as his voice rises, ] Bolin? He's at Redgate?

[ oh, no, not his precious future earthbender #1 fan! ]

He was already en-route, and nearly there. Perhaps you could meet up on the way, arrive jointly sometime on the 22nd.

[ Zuko is the best at walking, he covers so much ground. ]

If you could keep in contact with us as well, it would be appreciated.

If he's still there ... [ bolin's the only familiar name that's been thrown out there — and if he's on the road, then there's a good chance he'll be able to at least bend them a nice tent to hide away from reynard's forces if he still lingers around redgate. fire will only alert him of their approach, but tunnelling into the ground will at least be a nice sneak attack. ]

He's checked in to let you know he's okay?

Yes. We have heard from him, and informed him that you would be joining him at Redgate, if not sooner. [ A pause, and more of a smile. ] He is fine, Zuko, and we suspect Reynard to be very far from Redgate, at this point. [ Or, more accurately, just about every place but Redgate. ]

[ at least his friend is fine. that's all that matters in the end — and how unlike the fire nation his father had been attempting to forge that type of thinking is. zuko visibly relaxes until the tension comes crawling all over him once again. suspecting a dangerous enemy to not be near the very destination he wishes to travel toward isn't good enough. it's something his father wouldn't accept while discussing war tactics. it's something zuko, himself, won't accept, either. ]

How sure are you he's nowhere near where we're headed?

Very certain. As best as we can acertain, he is not in the area. [ Going by Waver's information from Redgate, Reynard has what he wants and is gone, and none of the many locations he found Reynard again were near Redgate. ] There are other matters Reynard would likely find more pressing.

However, there is still some slight chance; given the level of power Reynard has displayed, he could—potentially—still be in the area. So be careful.

[ Kaldur has been the guy pulling the tactical shots. He knows how much it sucks having to make the call, but sometimes, the information you have is what you have to work with, even if it's shitty. ]

[ shards. ]

[ zuko sighs. ] I've dealt with him before. [ several times — the very first he had toph and the second he had no one but a man he had met only briefly while en route to reynard's home. he feels out of place not knowing his enemies nor the terrain. ]

If he hasn't taken Redgate as his own, it probably serves him no purpose to claim it. It's what my father would do. [ he would also set any place he deemed weak on fire, like he had planned to do so with the earth kingdom. ] But if he's there, Bolin and I can handle it. He's a bender like me. Fire and earth work well together. [ even though bolin isn't as rude as toph, he's someone who seems to care as greatly as she does about those around her. he's just grateful he doesn't punch to show affection. ]

[ but if redgate has a visitor, zuko has faith that the two man team of bolin and zuko can unite together as one and become captain planet minus the other two elements and possibly the really atrocious outfit. ]

That was our thinking, also. [ What my father would do, oh man, does this mean Kaldur has a potential "well my dad is also a supervillain" buddy? That would be sweet. ]

About that. Redgate is located near a large amount of what is known as "bloodstone", which nullifies magical and semi-magical abilities. this includes bending. [ Proooobably should have made that clear earlier, but Kaldur had honestly forgotten about it. ]

[ ozai is a dicklord, pass it on. ]

[ zuko stares. ]

[ and lets just say stares some more. ]

[ this honestly has to be a joke. how in spirits is he meant to go and defend himself against a madman if he can't try and burn him!? (or shoot himself up into the air, as zuko's not exactly keen on burning anyone with fire. ever.) ]

[ and then he gets angry, his voice rising. ]

… How did Reynard make an entire group of people disappear!?

[ They should start "my dad is a dicklord" club. ]

[ Kaldur smiles, but it's anything but a good smile. More like a 'yes, I am very aware just how f'ed we are. ]

That is one of the many things we are trying to determine.

You can understand, perhaps, why we are trying to regroup, and face Reynard with a better understanding of what he is capable.
