[ A bit of silvery mist is the first thing anyone sees on the broadcast, then the growl of a one of the dog spirits. The Outsider hasn't quite gotten the hang of the Patronus charm yet, but it's fairly effective in getting the creature back enough to then slam it with a blast of wind magic.

His locket is bobbing up and down next to him, recording the whole thing from the side so that viewers can see both the dog being hit by magic and the Outsider (and his rather impassive) face. ]

It would seem that we missed a few of the grave sites.

[ Fear is a strange thing for a being who has seen so much; there's a tingle of it, but he's far more fascinated by it than anything else, at least for now.

The dog has only been knocked back and he lunges forward again; there's an irritated sigh and he pulls out a small, black-bladed knife and slashes at the beast's throat. ]

I'm finding that the alteration of my powers in this world is more and more of a hardship.

[ Not surprisingly, Alice looks like hell. She's infuriated that one of her weapons had no effect whatsoever other than it served as an excellent blunt weapon. But he is her friend and Alice has vowed to help her friends. ]

If it is that much of a hardship, you'll need someone with more brute force.

[ Says Alice, with the vorpal blade already adorned in blood. ]

I used to be able to knock things back with the wind hard enough that they would die, [ he laments, expression finally twitching toward a frown. ]

They do, at least, respond to magic. But if you are in the area, my dear, I wouldn't turn you away.

I am growing less and less fond of the Station.

[ She's in the area. It was hard to avoid them, since Alice is forced to deal with more visions of fire, her past. She's enraged already. ]

I like putting things in the 'microwave ovens'.

[ Though he hasn't been since he went with Vol'jin, and that wasn't for very long. Still, it was hardly as though he had needed supplies. ]

[ Instantly, Alice remembers the microwave incident of Jack Frost and Hiccup. Right on cue, Alice takes out the elven sword she carries with her, because the blade is longer. She seems to not take too kindly to that response, that she unleashes her fury on one of the hellhounds.

She has a tendency to hack things up, even when they're already dead. She likes to make sure they don't get back up, twice over.

Or at least, if it does get back up, it'll have to deal with not being whole. ]

Now now. Not when I am there. I am coming for you.

[ Well.

That's interesting. ]

I am in the courtyard; the baying of hounds brought me from my room.

[ She does an abrupt b-line to the courtyard now, walking in quick strides. Alice can be very violent should the mood strike her, like now. She's going to make this trek very quick. ]

Does he need more bones to call back his brethren?

I believe it would rather have our shards.

[ Which is not an option, as far as he's concerned. This entire time he's been pushing the dog away using magic, wind and the almost-Patronus, and striking out with his knife when that doesn't work. ]

And so it must be put to rest.

[If Lumina were a flower, the only word that could be used to describe her when she appears on the locket would be 'wilted.' She's much paler than usual, sitting somewhere with her head resting on her chin and her elbow on her knee.]

We missed some? I can't imagine how you came to that outlandish conc-

[Her sarcasm is interrupted by the growl of one of the dogs and she turns away, looking...angry? Or maybe just frustrated. The locket turns as she does, revealing one of the dog creatures approaching. Lumina makes a tired sound and just points a finger at the beast, and there is a sudden arc of pink lightning that hits the ground, the trees, the rocks, and the poor beast, which lets out a shrill howl as the magic cuts through it and it collapses.]

[Lumina looks even more tired when she turns back.]

...What was I saying?

[Yeah, she's having a bad day.]

[ He hasn't seen Lumina use any magic other than summoning her beasts, and it distracts him for a moment. The hound uses this to its advantage, lunging forward and snapping its teeth at his leg; the Outsider has to teleport away, locket clattering to the ground as he loses focus on it. There's a yelp as he hits the spectral dog with another blast of wind, the beast getting its head slammed into the stone walls of the courtyard.

While it's stunned, he pulls the locket back. ]

I believe you were being facetious, my dear.

[ He's used to it; it doesn't bother him. ]

Your magic suits you. [ In that it's pink. ]

Thanks. [She's frowning, studying him after that little losing his locket moment. She already had a close encounter with one of the dogs and the fear and terror moment had...shaken her. She knows how awful it can be.] I really like it when other people do the hard work, though.

You okay?

You can go to my rooms, if you would like -- stop by to see me first and I will give you a charm so that the rats do not bother you.

[ They'll swarm any dogs that may get into the castle, which will give Lumina the chance to get away if nothing else. ]

I am better than most with these things, I believe. I have not felt fear in many years, and so the experience is almost refreshing as opposed to what they might otherwise prefer.

No, that's-

[Lumina stops and looks away at another distant growl, then back at the screen. Rather than studying him though, she appears to be looking past him at whatever else his locket is showing her.]

Stay.

[Yes, she just told a god to stay. Whoops? But then she closes the locket, and after maybe fifteen seconds there's a storm of chaotic darkness and swirling light as she appears ontop of one of the walls near him, perched on the edge. ...And then almost tumbles off of it, grabbing onto the stones to catch herself.]

Okay, better. Hi.

[Bad day bad day.]

So no fear, huh? Lucky you.

Such wit is better reserved for less trying times, no?

[ Not that J'sairr looks or sounds the least bit like he's under any kind of duress, oh, no. He doesn't seem at all like he's just managed to escape some horrible terror dogs with his hide barely intact, not at all, why would anyone think such a thing.

(But, of course, he definitely is, and he definitely has.) ]

[ Still not the rudest thing that's happened to him. The Outsider isn't going anywhere; he's busy making smiledogs thunk into walls.

When Lumina arrives, he fishes a bone charm out of one of his pockets and teleports over to her, setting it on the stone next to her. The dogs will head for both of them, so he doesn't move; he may as well stay near her, while she's here. That lightning looks like it stings. ]

There is fear. It is simply... not much of a concern, at present.

Is it wit if it is pointing out something that appears obvious?

[ Yes, Outsider. Yes it is. He at least seems to realize this, as he adds: ]

And is it more welcomed if it encourages others to care for the dead properly in the future? They say that they rise up, in either body or spirit, in this world.

[ Not that he doesn't sometimes raise the dead himself, but that really is not the point here. ]

Khajiit knows few things better than wit, and so this one remains assured that it is.

[ His attention is distracted, though only for a moment, by some noise off-screen. Time to keep moving. ]

Khajiit also knows too, too well that the dead are seldom restful. Khajiit suspects that even if every last bone had been returned, they simply would have found some other reason to be upset!

[ Honestly, if he were in any position to consider it rationally, he'd probably realize that the number of draugr and other undead nasties that have attacked him personally are a miniscule amount compared to everyone who's ever died in Skyrim. But it's a little difficult for one to think rationally about these things when they're point-blank fed up with being attacked by the undead in the first place. ]

[ What a curious way of speaking. The Outsider likes you, J'sairr. You poor thing. ]

Perhaps. The dead seldom walk without assistance in my own world, but they are not kind toward any but those who raised them. It is the dying that most worry about there, the plague victims who can pass on their sickness, the Weepers who are angry and hopeless.

[ But that's Dunwall. ]

If it is our shards they seek, though, then I suspect that you are right -- they would have risen to hunt us anyway.

[ While he barely touches the lockets, they're new and unique enough to Eren that he does, every so often, fiddle with them a bit and attempt to figure them out better. And it's interesting enough that he peeks into this "network" just in time to see someone at work against more of those shadowy demons again, strangely blasé about it as if they were merely pests.

Eren's expression wrinkles into a frown out of puzzlement. Powers beyond his own were completely foreign to him, but he can at least address the one part that sort of makes sense. ]

A few? I'm getting the impression the damn things are cropping up all over the damn place.

[ He's a pro at rolling with a joke, obviously. ]

[...honestly, between fraternizing the enemy and complaining about the royalty, Kayneth presumes he should lock this, then...]

Honestly, I have no idea why the monarchs are insistent on shooting themselves in the foot like this, but I suppose it can't be helped.

[He sighs in a bit of a defeated way, which is probably emphasized by the fact that he looks a bit haggard, really...]

Unless it's not even their doing in the first place, but I really have no idea whose doing it could be in that case.

...of course, don't let me distract you, as I'd rather not have anything unfortunate happen.

[ she arches her eyebrow in amusement. ]

You call that a hardship?

[ if katherine could conjure items that would kill these beasts that have taken the form of the very night terror she has almost every single awaking hour of her undead life, she would call that a blessing. ]

Khajiit said nothing of shards—

[ Although, really, now that this strange man has brought it up, J'sairr can hardly think of anything else. He hasn't been in this world long enough to know the full extent of the shards' power, but he's certainly familiar with the consequences of losing one.

At any rate, the occasional glances he's throwing off-screen are now a tad more fearful. ]

No, Khajiit has never known the walking dead to want for aught but the death of the living — whatever living they can get their hands on.

No, but the imps have.

[ Of course, the imps say a lot of things. Some of it you can even make out between the hissing. ]

I wonder if the dead would fight the dead, in this case.

And in comparison to what there were? Cities are built on bones, and this war has been going on for a very long time.

[ You could build a palace out of all of the bones scattered around the Empire, hidden beneath the earth or rotting out on the streets. You could have done it even before the plague. ]

They are spectral dogs.

[ The Outsider doesn't seem distracted, really; he has to send another bit of silvery mist at one of the hounds, but that's about it. ]

Death in this world is the Black Shuck, the Old Shadow, the Dog of Death.
