fifth shot ☢ VIDEO (unseelie locked)
I don't suppose there's any shard holders who are doctors in Caer Scima? I'll even take a scientist.
[He pauses. ]
A scientist might be better, actually. I've got something I need replicated, if possible and - an ailment. Of sorts.
[Another pause, and then he lifts a shaking hand. ] It won't stop doing this. I don't know why.
[He gives it a violent shake; the tremors don't stop immediately, as they have done in the past. A few seconds go on and then, gradually it subsides. Kieren pinches the bridge of his nose. ]
Thanks.

Thanks.
voice;
[ ...thomas pauses, restarts with what he should have actually said: ] Are you going to be okay?
voice;
[The frightening thing is that Kieren doesn't know. He's seen all the VICTUS info videos, he knows about the pamphlets that were distrubuted throughout Roarton. Beware the signs of the B.E.A.S.T. It doesn't feel like going rabid, though, and maybe that's a good sign.]
It might be a side-effect of the Neurotryptiline; sometimes my eyes got sore because I wore contacts all the time. Back home my doctor said it wasn't anything to worry about. But he didn't say anything about getting tremors?
voice;
still, it's like riding a bike, right? ] But you've been on the meds since you--uh, woke up. Right? It wouldn't make sense for something strange like that to happen so suddenly, especially if it's not something you felt before. Maybe it's withdrawal?
[ thomas wants to help, he really does. he pauses on his end, trying to chew it over. ] There has to be some kind of pseudo-magic-doctor here somewhere.

[Maybe it's withdrawal from brains, he thinks wryly. But he looks as decidedly worried as Thomas feels. It's been tough being here on his own. It's tougher now being the only person like himself. Simon might have had answers. Amy might have had them; more likely.
He's never been a scientist. He's always had his hands in paint and his mind wandering -- his biology GCSE is probably no help here, either.
Vaguely and a little sadly, he wonders if Rick would have known. If maybe he'd heard something, being an officer. He stares on, his mind wandering for a moment before he snaps back to himself. ]
Teresa's suggested magic too.

it doesn't surprise him that he and teresa are on the same wavelength--they kind of always are. it'd make him smile a little if the situation wasn't so serious. ] The Queen would probably know. Maybe they can send you--or someone for you--on another quest, or something.
It's gonna be okay. [ he's not sure if he believes that, but he'll try to. ] We'll find something, okay? If you need any help...
no subject
[It's frustrating, being at a loss. He thinks of Amy (winces, just a little) and how she'd said they've got their own stuff, before she'd went to the ULA. How on Earth had they made it?]
Thanks, Thomas. I'll give you a bell if I think of anything?
no subject
he smiles a little on his end, and it comes through well enough in his tone--he's grown to like kieren quite a bit, now that the whole "sorry you look like my dead best friend" bump's been crossed. ] Yeah. Let me know how it goes with Morla, too. I'll talk to Teresa and Minho and see if they know anything.

And are there not side-effects to science?
video;
Worth the risk, though, if it works.
video;
[ There's a low laugh, something dark and old and full of teeth. ]
Magic is all around you in this world. Magic brought you here. Magic rests in the Shard in your chest. Magic is everything, known and unknown. It is not so where I am from, but fear of it has only caused ruin.
video;
[He says it gravely. He knows them inside and out. ]
Magic brought me here as I am, though. It didn't -- it didn't change me.
video;
[ No one ever truly knows everything. ]
I do not see how that is relevant.
video;
video;
Just because it is in every aspect of this world does not mean it would alter you simply for being in it.
video;
I wish I could offer some help, back home I could definitely replicate an antidote or medicine, but they don't have the same kind of equipment here. You'll have to find someone with a more organic science background than what I have.
-- Or magic, maybe. I don't know how reliable replicating with magic would be, though.
video;
[He pauses to run both hands through his hair. The tremors have stopped for now and for that he heaves a sigh of relief.
There are other means to replicate the medication, he knows. But he's not keen on letting anyone have a poke through at his brain. ]
Except Morla, I suppose. I've -- I've never actually spoken with her.
video;
I'll even go with you, if you want. I mean, in case they tell you that you have to do something kind of crazy impossible. [ she grins ] I'm pretty good at accomplishing the crazy impossible.
video;
[The girl who came back to life and her zombie buddy???? He's cracking a smile, at least. ]
Thanks, Teresa. Audiences are usually once a month, aren't they? I might have just missed my chance.
video;
I don't want to wait. [ ... ] Not- that it's my decision, at all. I just mean... I don't think it's worth waiting for, not when we could seek them out for a quest and get you feeling better, sooner? Unless you think you'll be okay for another month.
[ h u f f ]
Pretend you didn't hear all that other stuff, and that all I asked was "will you be okay for another month?", please.
video;
I'll be fine until the end of January at the very least. So another month won't be a problem.
[!! friendship. ]
But yeah, we can ask sooner than later. I might sleep better at night, actually, not worrying about it.
video;
[ she huffs again, but this time it's kind of a laugh. of course he'd sleep better at night, once he knew. she would too, honestly ]
I just hate relying on somebody else for something like this. Especially when I know I'd be able to help you, back home. This place can be so frustrating sometimes.
video;
Hey, it's alright. We'll figure something out here too. This place is full of bizarre stuff, you know? At least one mad event will get me in Morla's favour.
video;
video;
[He's -- he doesn't what he is. His throat feels tight. He hasn't experienced this kind of generosity or kindness since Amy. ]
That's -- I couldn't ask you to do that.
video;
Plus, asking for a way to replicate your medication would actually be a pretty selfish boon for me to ask for. The lack of nerdy, brainy things for me to do here is starting to drive me nuts.
video;
video;
[ she'll science the shit out of making your meds, sooooon ]
I'll just ask for a lab that would happen to have the right components to get what you need. Win/win, yeah?
video;
video;
video;
[He leaves his locket for a moment, stretching over his bed to grab his injection gun and the vile with Neurotriptyline.
He holds the vile up close, the pale green hue partially visible of the locket's visuals. ]
This stuff here. I need to take it every day, but I'll run out soon.
video;
You're Kieren? [The guy's look was a hint, but the vial was what let him know.] A friend of yours told me about your situation. Hiccup.
[A brief pause. He looks more grim than he actually is.] I can't promise I can make it, but I can try. I would need to know the ingredients. You would have to ask the Court for them. You could ask for it instead, but I don't know if they'll be able to give it to you.
Or you could ask for a talisman. You would have to do something for them either way. Is that possible for you?
video;
[A beat, and then, as he weighs his options internally: ]
Hiccup asked about this? For me?
[He could do a favor, certainly. He tries to the remember the ingredients off hand just now and can't remember a single thing. ]
I know it's possible to replicate it. There's communes back home, with people like me. They brew their own medication.
video;
If you don't know how it's mixed, then it may take me some time to make. I'll try.
Where are you now?
video;
[But -- and it's a big but. ]
I'll speak with Morla. It runs out in January; appeasing her is the preferred outcome when the other one is mauling people I consider friends.
video;
[But he nods either way, lightly.] We're not far apart. I don't know where I'll be after this, but you can contact me through the locket. I'm Geralt.
If you need more help, I can see what I can do. [Because he'd rather help Kieren, honestly, than cut the guy down for going a little zombie accidentally.]
video;
In any case, thank you.
video;
I'll speak to you again.
