Video - Locked to Unseelie

For those that have unearthed remains at the behest of the Black Shuck, if you have come across those of the Seelie, I will be venturing to Caer Gleam to return them upon the evening of the Seventh. I am willing to transport those of any who can bring them to me in Daonna before my departure to the Seelie stronghold.

Should you do so, I will ensure that the Seelie are aware of whom among us honored their dead. [Since honor was a huge deal to the Seelie.]

I would appreciate being contacted beforehand so I can prepare.

After preparing your new holdings for your arrival, it seems only proper that I pass Redgate's regards on to the Seelie. After all, there were so many beds of tulips there....

[In other words, someone now knows what all happened with the dragon.]

I aim to return after I have taken care of some personal matters.

I appreciate your going ahead of me, and carrying what messages are needed. You'll be welcomed back to Redgate anytime, I'm sure, even without my influence.

[but it's nice that she's made such a good impression on her own. all the better to ease the transition of the city trading hands, if it comes with trusted recommendations.]

I still have to settle matters with Morla, and so there's still another trip ahead of me before I can take to Redgate. But with any luck, I'll be there before you return to properly greet you. Until then, I'd be happy to hear your thoughts on the city itself.

[With as pro-Unseelie as Redgate had become, it took little for Saber to make a good impression, but between her position as Necroveil and using her monstrous strength to help move some of the rubble in the areas still undergoing rebuilding certainly helped.]

Are you familiar with the asphodel flower?

Alyosha once mentioned to me that Redgate smelled of it.

[perhaps more recently than those out of the loop might realize, but never so much as mentioning her name might actually do more harm than good, if her game was to suggest that they'd had enough of a relationship before her "passing" that she chose to pass redgate on to him. the least he can do is lend credibility to her story.]

The blossoms and stalks are being scattered amongst the streets by children and bundles hung in windows. [She gave a small smile.] Some children wove the flowers into my mount's mane. It represents everlasting life and victory over sorcery.

I suggest having some in clear view upon your person when you first ride into Redgate properly as their lord.

["victory over sorcery" feels a bit ironic, relating to him. but it's a good tip.]

I'll keep that in mind. Do they grow along the road as well, or should I find a flower shop of sorts before I go?

The weather will be turning soon. I suggest a specialized shop.

True. I'm sure I'll be able to find somewhere that sells them, especially with this world being so rife with magic that might preserve them longer.

But what else? I should hope your time in the city was not entirely taken up by carting around bones.

Not entirely. I did need to ingratiate the people a bit to the presence of Judge Magister Gabranth, and I helped clear some of the areas still in ruin.

Also, I looked into the matter of outstanding warrants. There are still two Seelie that have not returned to Redgate for their trials. A fair amount of coin is being offered for those willing to... persuade them to return.

[It's fairly clear she supports this.]

Oh? Did you happen to catch the names of those two? I'm sure I'll hear of it once I'm there and getting situated, but it'd be nice to get a headstart on these things. Perhaps I can even have the matter settled before I arrive.

Korra and Kaldur'ahm. They are associated with the dragon and Lady Alyosha's passing.

With her passing? [he frowns, genuinely perplexed -- though likely not for whatever reasons she thinks.] What do you know of her passing?

Only that she has and there was a funeral in Redgate to honor her. I never had the privilege of meeting the lady.

Then I fear you may have been given some poor information somewhere along the line. I only know a little about the incident with the dragon, and less about those that were involved with it, but I was there when Alyosha died. She was killed by Reynard the Fox. Whatever involvement those others might have had with Redgate, they had nothing to do with her death.

No. The dragon was months before I arrived, I believe. But Alyosha's death was less than two months ago, in Treun. She was badly injured in the incident with the dragon, I know -- she bore scars from it when we met -- but it was not that incident that killed her.

And yet I am sure there are many of Redgate's people that would claim that had the dragon not been awakened, Lady Alyosha not badly injured, the Fox would not have slain her.

[She waved her hand dismissively.] It matters not as the bounties stand as is and for just reasons.

[sigh.]

The people of Redgate, it seems, are looking for any excuse to blame any wrong on these Seelie shardbearers. [and with him still trying to decide how he's gonna work this whole neutrality thing while still playing morla's loyal unseelie, it's just another frustrating complication added to the pile.] I'm sure their bounties are justified, but casting additional faults their way out of resentment only misdirects the blame from where it should lie.

Reynard was the murderer. If there's anyone who deserves the city's hatred, it's him.

The papers regarding the bounties are quite clear. It is only the opinions of the masses that wander. Lady Alyosha was much beloved by her people.

I think once the two Seelie have been brought in for trial, it will be easier to direct the gaze of the people.

[people are stupid. but handling that stupidity is sort of his job, so.]

I'll see what I can do about that. With any luck, these matters can be dealt with without resorting to a hunt and reward.

They know they are to stand trial. They have chosen to ignore the justice system of Redgate. The other two that were associated with them came back to Redgate of their own accord and made amends.

It looks to me as if these two are refusing to acknowledge they may have done wrong.

They might be. But I've been told I'm rather persuasive. Perhaps I can convince them to do the right thing here.

Please, none of that. It's a new title, and you're a friend. It hardly feels appropriate.

I will keep that in mind as I aid you with your growth into that title. It may not be as grand as a king, but here it is much more than what you arrive with.
