[ Alice has spent most of her day in her room, keeping to herself. After Samhain, she's feeling particularly burnt out socially, choosing to make the most of her time with her pet rabbit and her drawings. What she won't mention is that her hallucinations have gotten pretty vivid the past few days and they're riddling her drawings that are sprawled all over around her. Her hands are covered in blue thanks to the pastels. This is one of the weirder things she's drawn, spending a lot of time mindlessly on the face. She only stops once to itch her nose, getting the blue-black residue of the chalk pastels.]

Oh, bother.

[ Alice stifles a sneeze, rubbing it off her nose. Alice stops to adjust her neck.]

Well, I'm going to run out of pastels. I should have gotten them at the Station when I had the chance. Not one of my more finer projects, but I suppose it'll suffice for now. Do they even have these in Caer Scima?

Really...? So far no one seems to think so.

[ Other than the Outsider. ]

[A one shouldered shrug.] Can't everybody have taste.

[BOOM. But they can totes talk about their mutual buddy the Outsider.]

My friend seems to like it, but I think he has bias for whales to begin with.

[Because BOY OH BOY does that sound familiar.]

In a way; he calls himself the Outsider.

[ziggyzoggy]

Augh.

[...He didn't mean to make that noise, it just sort of slipped out. Maybe he could play it off as some kind of acknowledgement, if his expression is ambiguous enough. But his voice might fall a bit flat.]

I know that one. He do seem to have a thing for whales.

[digophelia]

[ Since this is the second person to mention the fact the Outsider seems pretty fond of whales, Alice comes out and say what's on her mind. ]

What is with that face? I don't understand. For all the time I have spent with him, not once have whales came up.

[ziggyzoggy]

[Dang, not sly enough. Oh well.]

Really? He hopped a pirate ship to go looking for 'em.

Though why he'd do that when he can just turn into one, I dunno.

[digophelia]

He what-?

[ Surely she heard that wrong, surely someone doesn't turn into- Wait, no, that's not really a surprise, not as Alice glances down to his mark on her hand. Well.]

But why would he- oh, never mind. What on earth were you all doing with whales?

[ziggyzoggy]

[A shrug.]

Hopped on a pirate ship to go look for whales. [Vol'jin, I am 100% certain that is not what she was asking about. I can see the metatext.

Ignorant of his mun's wailing, he scratches his chin with one clawed finger.]

Not that I can talk. I sailed along just for the ride. [Then he thinks about it, and fiddles with the locket to privatize the doodad before he continues. This isn't public knowledge, as far as he knows.]

We were looking for somethin' the pirate wanted. Tried to take it from the ship that had it, 'cept that didn't work. Mostly cause ya friend turned into a whale again and belly flopped on it, crushed 'n' sank it.

[digophelia]

So he was protecting them?

[ Between Lumina's remark and now this, this is what Alice can summize. ]

[ziggyzoggy]

Protectin' who? The crew? The whales?

[he shrugs, arms expansive.]

Who's to say. I don't go aroun' questionin' his motives. Gods be picky about that.

All I know is he liked to turn into the whale and swim next to the ship, and when we catch up to the other boat, he squished it.

[And now you know exactly as much as he does.]

[digophelia]

He is surprisingly patient with questions.

[ God or not, Alice always asks questions. ]

And knowing him, he would put the whales before anyone else.

[ziggyzoggy]

Yeah, that sound about right. Though if ya curious, ya can probably ask him. What with ya being friendly-like anyways.

[digophelia]

Well, it's more than that! He's my friend!

[ziggyzoggy]

[He gestures with one hand like "Well, yes, obviously."]

That's what I meant!

[Although, now that he thinks about it.... Vol'jin scratches at his jaw absently.]

Come to think about it, he did good 'round Felix. An' Felix asks a lotta questions.

[Although he hasn't seen or heard from Felix in a while. ]

Felix? Who is Felix?

[ziggyzoggy]

Little red-haired fella I met a while back. We three went down to the Station together. Ya probably know him if ya seen 'im: he got one blue eye an' one yellow one.

[He glances away, his attention caught on a stray thought.]

Actually, I ain't heard from him since, oh, before we went to deal with the moon. He mighta gone home.

[digophelia]

The description doesn't ring any bells, I'm afraid. I'm sorry.

[ziggyzoggy]

[He scoffs, and waves off the apology.]

Tch, can't be helped. As I said, it was months ago.

He be very curious about everythin'. [Including some burning personal questions. >_> ]

[digophelia]

I know, that is why we are friends.

[ It's a good match, really. ]

[ziggyzoggy]

[For a split second, he looks surprised, then the look dissolved into a smile and a quiet chuckle. He'd been talking about Felix, still. Not that he's going to mention it. No point in correcting her.]

True, true.

[Well, the topic is well and truly tapped, in his opinion, so with a squint, he moves on.]

What was it ya were askin' about, though? I've forgot.

[He hasn't actually forgotten. It's merely a segue.]
