Consider this some friendly advice, or if you'd prefer, a word of caution. While this should be common sense, when one calls upon the Black Shuck, know your place, whether he appears to you or not. Do not go emptyhanded, without even one offering to him, without anything that shows that you give him the respect he is due.
He is not your friend, nor is he anyone you have the right to make demands of, and thinking that you are somehow an exception is nothing but arrogance of the highest order. These days are his, and that the Old Shadow would grace even one of us with a visit is a quite high honour.
One would think a number of you believe yourselves better than gods, by the way you would interact with them.
action
[the thing about that entire scolding? it was delivered in public. specifically, while she had found her way to standing atop a small table during the celebrations, because it simply felt most appropriate. closing the locket with a snap, she felt confident the message would be heard, and that she'd done her duty.
of course, it would have looked much better had she not taken a misstep as she was preparing to get down, ruining the whole serious effect by falling and heading straight for the ground. how embarrassing.]
[[ooc: it's been decided that the Brucolac will catch her before she actually hits the ground, but characters are free to speak to her re: what she said after she rights herself or if they saw it.]]

He may be a powerful entity, but one has no need to worship every god there ever was.

He is death and is thus, malevolent and unforgiving. You may ply such an entity, but he will claim you, regardless.

Are you alright?

[kind of still reeling from the experience and the fall, truth be told...but not so much that she forgets to shift this to private.]
When you say strange, how do you mean?
[please don't say that you made him upset, Alice. she will be so disappointed in you.]
private;
[ She'll fret anyway, because that is what she does. ]
Nothing in particular, I've never been to parties before and spirits make people a little too friendly. I spoke to the Black Shuck briefly, however. It was nothing terrible. I don't blame him for being so short of temper when Samhain is his busiest season.

But truly, I am fine. Overjoyed, even.

[He catches her about the middle and carefully lowers her feet firmly to the ground before releasing her, snapping his own locket shut (watching, not transmitting, don't worry).]
Very wise. And very aerodynamic. You would have flown far.

If I meant to fly, I would have given myself wings.

[ blah, blah, blah, black shuck. blah, blah, blah, respect. fortunately for katherine, she has no intentions on ever speaking to death, regardless of its incarnation or temperament. she thinks to ask if this public service announcement comes at the price of her red-headed friend having offended the great black shuck, but katherine has something more interesting to say. ]
Did you offer him our mutual friend?
[ the girl with the half spear katherine still is in possession of seems like a pretty poor offering ... ]
no subject
Nothing so grand. I wouldn't offer him anything I didn't have on hand.

[ but clarisse isn't her dull as dishwater doppelgänger, even though she does seem quite dull with her similar views to elena she possesses about life's good and wrong. such an offering would be boring, she thinks. it's too easy to sacrifice another to the dog of death. isn't he chasing the tail of those who have lived past their expiry date? ]
You took quite a zap. [ more than that; katherine's not sure if she would've felt the sting of electricity while powered to the point of mimicking an original in ability and endurance. ] It's good to see a little spear hadn't brought you down.

action/not here???
(never mind that he agrees with the warning.)
across the party, hushed, he directs rizhao to hide and stay hidden, with the mental force of a direction he does not want disobeyed. she grumbles, not happy with it, but climbs inside the bag they keep just for occasions like this. he wants to get out of here without running into grell, but his mask and costume stand out, even among the crowd — especially when the eyes of the skull mask burn so bright, lit by the sudden increase in his heart rate.
he's met death once already this holiday, and he doesn't want to go any closer. ]

and take your brother with you, before she decides it'd be amusing to dance with him.]
