So! Two things! One, I'm proud to announce that Leo Valdez of the Seelie fame will be my not-date to this little shindig we're having. [ this next bit is added with less gusto, like fine print at the bottom of the page ] And by not-date I just mean I can't actually call him my date because I gave this oath to a Greek god that stated I wouldn't ever date in exchange for a power upgrade, sorta, back home, but anyway- [ and she's back to full voice ] Which means that it'll be that much easier for all you party-goers to find us for a dance, if you want. Like, with one of us, or both of us. Who knows! Hey. It's a party. Either way, we'll be spending 80% of the time on the dance floor, so you should definitely come say hey.

[ she's obviously just really excited for this, okay. because of the dancing thing, and because- ]

And the second thing is that I heard we're supposed to wear masks for the next few days? Which is actually kind of great, because I've been looking for a project, and making cool masks sounds like the perfect thing. I don't think I could make a bunch of masks for everyone, there's no time, but if anybody wants to meet up to spruce up their masks, let me know? Like an arts and crafts session or something. I don't know. [ she's just really excited!! ] Yeah, let me know.

I don't actually know all the details of it, but apparently it's tradition. Probably like Halloween, if you've ever celebrated that holiday. ..Maybe not so much in a day-of-the-dead way, but just...pretending to be someone you're not for a little while. And it has something to do with the Black Shuck, too.

[Zhaneel would be greatly relieved to have people just kind of role with her presence for a change. It was strange being around so many humans that didn't know about gryphons.

As long as you don't do anything inappropriate, I don't think Apollo is going to care about you going with Valdez. [ teasingly. thalia has a similar oath to keep, so she knew how careful one had to be. she wasn't exactly friends with rachel, but they did know each other. enough for thalia to tease her or ask her for some help without feeling too awkward. because asking for help and thalia - not a good mix. ]

Anyways, I wouldn't mind some help with my mask. [ if the safety pins that held up her usual black pants back home weren't a clue - she wasn't good with creativity or anything fashion-related. ]

Did you have anything in mind for it yet? I can already think of a few designs right off the bat that could be cool for a daughter of Zeus and a Hunter, so. What were you thinking?

[ thalia flashes the girl a smile. if nothing else rachel was certainly.... perky. ] Nice to see you too! [ she could always respect another strong-willed woman who swore off boys. ]

Exactly. You can't date boys, that doesn't mean you have to be lonely for the rest of your life. [ he seriously couldn't have a problem with not going stag to a party. besides, they were going as friends, right? ] Gods are a pain in the ass, but they seriously can't make that much of a fuss out of nothing.

[ thalia frowns uncertainly. she hadn't put too much thought into the dress either. but she did know one thing. ]

Something punk. Kinda like what I usually wear..., but as a dress.

[ she nods, shrugs a shoulder ] Makes sense.

I can definitely come up with a mask that's cool and punkish, yet tasteful, tribute to Artemis. Something black and silver, so it'll go with pretty much whatever you decide to wear.

[ there's a look of hesitation before thalia nods and offers a smile. ] Thanks. I just suck at these kind of things. Let me know if I ever do anything for you in return. [ a beat. ] Or in general, you're Annabeth's friend after all.
