✘ video / after the feast / open to both courts
[ Hans has made pretty good legwork around Caer Scima during and after the feast, but that's not quite enough to satisfy his curiosity on a few matters - the locket, for one, and the other court for another. So he might as well kill two birds with one stone, right? Besides, while he's still getting his bearings, the best thing he could do what get to know as many people as possible. He hates being so unfamiliar with, well, everyone.
So he greets the video feed with a friendly, enthusiastic grin, his actual exhaustion buried deep beneath the surface. ]
Good evening! I apologize for the interruption, but I wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself. I'm Prince Hans of the Southern Isles, and I've only just arrived in this world. As you might imagine, it's a bit overwhelming. If wouldn't mind taking a moment of your time to help me better understand the conflict going on here, I would appreciate it.
[ Then, after a thoughtful moment: ] And for curiosity's sake, who else is a royal in their own world? Surely, I can't be the only lucky one here.
[ Sure, lucky, SOMETHING LIKE THAT. ]
Thank you for listening. I hope we'll be able to cross paths in person soon.

voice;
That all depends on what you consider "royalty", I guess.
voice;
It's not as clear-cut as it seems, hm? [ Considering the day he's had, yeah, that's not too hard to believe. ] Any person of high status, then. Rulers, children of rulers, leaders of the people.
[ In Hans-speak: he wants to know who the important people are. ]
voice;
korra's quiet for a moment before — eh! deciding why not. it's not like it's gonna matter here. ]
My dad's chief of the Southern Water Tribe, and my creepy cousins rule the North.
[ gurl just because you're bummed a friend got hurt doesn't mean you should ONLY stick to the safe answers. you're a leader of the people too you know, gosh. ]
voice;
there's only one way to find out!!]Sounds like that makes you something like a princess. [ HANS NO. ] Creepy cousins, huh?
voice;
yes v good we'll experiment with this later. in any case: HANS YES. ]Yeah, they're twins and they never say much. Nor do they ever smile. Sometimes they laugh, but... it's more like a dying penguinseal than an actual laugh.
[ beat ]
Plus they smell like a grandma's attic. [ ... ] They're just unpleasant all around, so I hope they're having fun with their new job.
voice;
Spooky. I take it them being up north means they're far away from you, at least. [ ... ] You know, when you're not here.
voice;
They're all the way on the other side of the world, which is as far away as they can get.
[ clearly she has no problem with this. ]
...Most of the time.
voice;
Only most of the time?
voice;
And then there are the spirit portals that connect the sister tribes and make it easy for us to move from one pole to the other.
voice;
Fascinating. [ Then, lightly: ] You know, now I know more about the geography of your world than your name.
voice; ONCE MORE WITH FEELING.
Names are old news. What's really interesting are politics of worlds you've never been to.
voice; /HEADPATS
I'd say both are quite interesting in their own right. So, politics, then, mysterious Water Tribe princess?
voice; cries.
Uh huh. Geography and politics. I could talk for aaaages about the strained relationship between the north and the south.
[ if you can't tell, she's being sarcastic. she actually doesn't know the full history of her people whUPPS... ]
voice;
Please, then, go right ahead. I'm all ears.
[ Whiiich is a total bluff. He really hasn't a single iota of desire to listen to her prattle on about her water tribe politics. ]
voice;
It started a long, long time ago and then they almost had a civil war. The end.
voice;
That can't be all there is to it. You said yourself you could go on for ages, and now I'm a little bit let down.
[ Said in a mock-serious tone, but really, thank god. ]
voice;
[ thanks hans, now she's not gonna let that go. ]
voice;
Rats. You've got me there. My apologies, princess.
voice;
That's better. [ heh. ] You know, I think I like you calling me "princess" for now. Maybe I'll tell you my name later.
voice;
voice;
It's okay, Prince Hans, don't sweat it. Some people get used to it, but I don't think I will.
voice;
[ Should he even bother with this conversation if she hasn't? ]
voice;
[ EXCUSE YOU she's the best conversation partner even if she doesn't have a lot of info!! ]
voice;
That's quite awhile. And I'm sure an intrepid, strong girl like yourself must've spent some time in the world beyond the castle walls.
[ Soooo...tell him about that, make yourself useful, "princess". ]
voice;
I'm a hunter, it's what I do. I haven't visited everywhere on the map yet, but I've seen a good chunk of the world here.
