[VIDEO] 9 April [SEELIE] A Call to Arms [OPEN]

[ The video is aimed largely past the speaker, to the twichting-writhing forms of three snake-like horned-creatures, the crackles of electricity still racing across their scales as they move. The locket is likely proper up on a rock or tree somewhere, as the speaker is turned to face the worms, his arms up and tattoos glowing electricity crackles from his hands. He is standing on land near a small river-stream near farmsteads. ]

Attention.

I am Kaldur’ahm, recently brought here with the rest of you. I was exploring the rivers and streams nearby and found that several had been blocked by these creatures, and that they were attacking the farms homesteads.

[ One of the worms seems to recover from the temporary paralysis, and lunges towards Kaldur, who leaps away and grasps two devices firmly in his hands. He jumps up again slams downwards on its tail with a water-formed spiked mace, inadvertently severing part of the tip from the worm. He bats the rest of the worm back further away and continues. ]

I am requesting assistance. Several of the civilians have been bitten, and are displaying signs of being in a critical condition due to the creature’s venom. I have been attempting to combat these worms for a few hours, and they grow more resistant to my electric paralyzation with each attempt I try.

[ The severed tail-end starts wriggling violently, and he forms a sledgehammer to knock it back several yards, closer to the still-paralyzed worms. ]

They are quick to regenerate from severed pieces, like echinoderms.

I need those who can help me combat these creatures and those who can help transport the injured to the castle, as well as individuals to help care for those injured by the worms.

[Celebrían doesn't wait for anyone to ask for her help. She gathers supplies: bandages, medicine, herbs, cloths, dishes of water, anything they might need for when the injured start coming in. And she makes sure that there's enough for each medic and Healer that they won't end up running out in the middle of treating someone.

The she-elf has her hair in a messy braid and pinned up to keep it out of the way, part of her dress tied up so she doesn't trip while working. It isn't hard to get her attention but she's not likely to be in one place for long unless she's treating someone.]

Fili, I told you, I'm fine!

[The young dwarf is hauled, protesting and reluctant, towards the healers. His voice is hoarse, the bruising across his neck and what little is visible across his chest making it apparent that the worms attempted to strangle him.

The real issue, however, is the nasty bite on his cheek. It's difficult to tell whether he's been poisoned or not, and while the wound is fairly shallow, it looks bad, dripping blood onto his tunic.

Fili and Bilbo both steer Kili to the nearest, unoccupied healer, and he slumps in defeat.]

It's not that bad, honest, I don't know why I'm even here...

[silvergift]

[As soon as he's with her and not resisting anymore, Celebrían moves to his side and looks over his injuries. The bruising isn't so much a concern as his bleeding and the mention of the worms being venomous.]

'Not that bad.' [She repeats with a soft sigh, taking a piece of cloth and wetting it, gently wiping away the blood so she can get a better look at the bite.]

Clearly your companions disagree.

[kilimanjaro]

[Kili sighs, clearly frustrated. The elf woman starts to clean the wound and he winces slightly, sulking.]

Of course they would. They still think I'm that stupid reckless child wandering aimlessly into danger.

[silvergift]

[She's trying to be gently but some of it has already dried and needs just the littlest bit of extra effort to get off. Once the blood is wiped away, she examines the bite, making sure none of the worms venom had gotten to him.]

Or they heard the announcement that those creatures are venomous.

[Celebrían says nothing about him being reckless, she isn't out there fighting to know. Tending the wounded can be a demanding task.]

Be thankful that your friends care enough to bring you to a healer.

[Kili sighs and sits obediently still, hands curling into fists when it starts to hurt too much. She doesn't deserve any of this, after all.

He does notice that she's an elf, and that peaks his curiosity.]

You're from Arda?

[silvergift]

[Perhaps not but as a Healer, she's bound to hear it quite often. And at least he's not the violent type. There are some people who will fight their own allies and their Healers before settling down for treatment.]

I am. I am Celebrían of Lothlórien.

[Content that his wound isn't infected and that none of the worms venom seems to have gotten into his system, she chooses a few herbs and quickly grinds them into a paste, applying it to the bite.]

[Kili winces slightly as she applies the paste but stays still. Lothlorien...something about the name stirs something in his memory but he can't quite place where he knows it from.]

Kili, of Ered Luin. At your service.

[silvergift]

Ered Luin, the Blue Mountains.

[She knows it though she'd never been. When Eregion had been destroyed, some of the survivors, she knows, had fled to Lindon. Just west of Ered Luin.]

I have heard of it.

[kilimanjaro]

[Kili's eyes brighten at that and he smiles, giving a small nod.] I've lived there all my life.

[silvergift]

I regret to say that I have never been. I have lived in Eregion, Lothlórien and Imladris in my life but that is all.

[She sets aside her tools, content with the bite being covered and checks his bruises. Nothing she can really do for those but she can at least make sure that there are no broken bones beneath.]

[kilimanjaro]

[He hisses softly as she presses at his bruises, but there's no broken bones. Dwarf bones are pretty hard to break, after all.]

It's beautiful. Mountains, forests, rivers... Winters are hard, but you get used to it.

[There's a sort of longing in his voice.]

[They are and she knows this, knows well the dwarves of Moria, but they can still break. And she knows not the strength of the worms.]

You miss it. [Not a question.] It sounds lovely. I cannot blame you.

[After Kili has finally let a healer take a look at him, Fili stops to approach the elf. She's sure to have others to tend to soon, so he won't keep her longer than he needs to in order to thank her for her help. This time, at least, Kili wasn't in serious danger, but it could have been bad enough.]

Thank you, my lady. [He pauses, giving her a smile.] I hope my brother was less of a handful than he can be.

[It could have been worse, he's lucky. Anyone bitten that isn't suffering from the effects of the worms venom is lucky. And she's glad when she finds someone that isn't suffering from that.]

He was no trouble. Though he was upset that he was made to see a Healer.

[The bite was the main reason why Fili insisted on dragging his brother to the healers. That Kili could protest so vehemently didn't mean that there was no risk of his condition changing for the worse with time -- his poisoned arrow wound hadn't seemed so severe at first, either.

Fili is glad to have these thoughts gone from his mind. Because of it, he doesn't find it difficult to let a chuckle leave his lips now.]

He was, but that was before he saw who would tend to his wounds. [Kili must have expected someone more like Oin.] The company might make all the difference.

[silvergift]

[And that is something she appreciates, someone being wise enough to realize that no immediately noticeable effect didn't mean there wouldn't be one later.]

I am glad I was able to help in that, at least. And his wounds should not take too long to heal.

[Her words lift the tension that had been there from him, but he asks one other thing to confirm.]

No venom got into his blood?

[silvergift]

None. The bite was deep but nothing beyond that entered his blood. Do keep watch on him though, in case he should be bitten again.

[He nods. He'd like to think that this will be Kili's only visit to the healers, that there won't be any more getting bitten on his watch, but it's already happened.]

We'll try not to come back with another bite.

[silvergift]

[And she would like it to be, for either of them.]

And I will try not to scold either of you if you should.

[walkingarsenal]

[For that, he smiles once more, and he finds himself thinking of his mother.]

If you haven't yet, you're sure to become Kili's favourite healer. He might even listen to you.

[silvergift]

[She laughs very lightly.]

He might but I do hope we will meet more without needing be injured. That may convince him to listen better than when he is being treated.

[This makes another kind elf on a list that has grown to a good few in a short time.]

I can make no promises [just as she seems to suspect, it isn't unlikely that they will be back for a healer, despite their intentions], but I think we would all prefer to meet in different circumstances.

[silvergift]

[It's not hard for Celebrian to fit on that list.]

That is alright. I imagine we would though. At least, I would certainly would have.
