Mum?
[Somehow Merida's locket has jarred itself open when she hopped off of Angus, coming out from its resting place beneath her dress. Coming towards her is a beautiful woman, storming along the path in front of them, dress in her hands and a stern look on her face. Angus whickers in anxiety, prancing back and nudging his nose against Merida's head as though to tell her something but she's not paying attention to her faithful horse. She hasn't seen her mum in over a month, and the scene replaying out in front of her is too familiar.]
You embarrassed them, Merida. You embarrassed me.
You...I...mum...
[She seems to be stuck on words to say, as Angus bites his teeth down on her locket chain and pulls her back with it, tearing it off and causing it to fall to the side. The angle is haphazard now, but the view still the same. Merida visibly shrinks against him as Elinor comes to a stop a few feet from her, gesturing wildly and the expression on her face only becoming angrier.]
Turnin' me into a bear? What were you thinkin', lass? All I've ever done has been for you, Merida.
I know that...mum, I know that now, just...please, listen to me...
[Elinor shifts suddenly, her entire form lowering itself down to the ground as black fur sprouts over her body, snarls coming from her mouth that's now a bear's snout. She snarls, hackles raising and Angus scampers as she stalks forward, causing Merida to fall back now that she hasn't her horse to lean against. She scrambles out of sight of the locket, and the bear towers over her, roaring as she screams.]
[ooc: people are more than welcome to tag her, as I'll be having her answer messages after the conflict is done with :3]

Action;
In the next moment, Lancer was there, looking as if he lacked any energy at all. Rather than looking heroic, he just managed to look tired and irritable.]
Ahh... A little slow. My own pride's bound to be tarnished, bein' this late.

The problem with that laid in his own fears. Each pass at those dogs drove him closer into his own fear, making him less and less stable.]
Damned things... Stand up proper, young lady.
[Yet, despite the strength in his arm, Lancer looked out of breath. At that, he was roughly in the same state of mind as Merida.]

Cu...Cu Chulainn, what is it?
[It takes Merida a moment to get her voice working, fingers wrenching themselves in Angus' thick mane. It couldn't possibly be her mother, that was impossible. The Black Shuck and Morla both had said it themselves.]

[Merida's question seemed to pass from one ear to another. He could scarcely answer. The knight regarded the darkened parts of the forest with loathing, more of the dogs coming out in the distance. Not all far from them, their illusions were beginning to come back with fervor, despite Lancer having struck one of them down.]
Forget the bear. It won't stand a chance, alright? Just don't let yourself get flanked, Princess.

A-aye. Nothin' more than hot air.
[The dogs approaching them startles her, making her draw her sword, though she feels little more than useless right now. The air shifted around them, illusions settling into place of the clansmen, the ones that had watched her best their young lords and shook their head in disgust. Angus' whinny makes her shake her head as his presence snaps her out of it, steadying her breathing and trying not to panic.
Now that she knew they weren't real, her resolve steeled, fingers gripping around the pommel of her sword as the illusion of the clansmen disappeared, leaving the dogs.]
Don't worry about me. [Merida closed her eyes, trying to block the image from her mind before she opened them again, knuckles turning white in her grip.] It's not my mother. She's not here, nor is Mor'du.

Despite the fact that he worse the appearance of someone without a bit of fear in him, that had been the opposite fact. Few things terrified the Hound, but they were definitely vast in their own right. Above all else, his fears were among the worst in his eyes.]
Aye. The illusions are just a distraction. So, it wouldn't do to dismiss 'em.
[He opened his mouth to speak, but at that--his own fear caught up with him. The dogs closed in, under cover of the spells they wove. From the forest and among the crowd of Merida's clansmen, came a young man--covered in blood. His body hissed with steam accompanied by a network of throbbing red veins running along his frame, akin to a spider's web.]
...Better yet, no. We ought to run, Princess. It ain't a good time. [As Merida stepped up, the Hound fell back. If ever there was a moment of hesitation in him, it was in that moment.]

[Video] (After things have calmed down.)
[Diarmuid doesn't see her post until hours after it is made, since he has been doing training classes all day. It frustrates him to know that someone he considers a friend is in danger and there is nothing he can do. After all, his ring will not light up for her...she is Unseelie. All he can do is hope that someone found her before it was too late.]
Please be okay...
[The last line is whispered very softly. He is worried. That much is very clear...]
[It's been hours since, and Merida is back safe in her rooms at Caer Scima, though she hardly feels it. She tugs at the blanket wrapped around her shoulders, hair matted from a recent bath and eyes red and puffy.]
[The relief is almost tangible in his voice, though his expression remains concerned. She doesn't look okay. Not that he can blame her after what the locket showed and who knows what happened after the locket shut off.]
Was it the dogs?
[He's heard several softly spoken rumors today...]
Yes. [Merida sighs, closing her eyes.] I take it there are more of them around?
[When he goes out to do patrols, he is going to have to keep an extra eye open.]
Do you want to talk about what happened?
[Diarmuid's voice is a little hesitant, not because he doesn't want to listen, but because he's not sure if she will feel comfortable talking about something so private with him. Still, he would like to give her the opportunity if she wants it.]
[Video] -> [private]
[Merida hardly sounds like herself, shaken from the dogs and what happened after. Two friends risked themselves for her, and she hardly knows the state of either of them. For a moment, she thinks about declining his offer, but then she switches the conversation to private, giving a small, breathy laugh.]
Well I hardly think I'm going to sleep tonight, so I suppose talkin' will do.

...I am sorry about your mother, child. Are you all right?
Aye, I'm fine now.
[Talking with Diarmuid eased some of it, but she's still struggling to rest properly.]

[She sounds exhausted, both emotionally and mentally.]
Thank you, Korra. I'm...I'm sorry you had to...

It's okay, Merida. I was overdue for a good fight; it was fun.
[ HAAHAHAhahahahaha... ha......... ]

[She's not getting away without hearing it. She has to apologize to Cu Chulainn too, which will be taken care of when she can muster up the courage.]

[ and she means that, girl. don't fight her on this. ]
... Are you okay?
[ she smelled that burnt flesh in the air, merida. ]
voice.
Aye. Angus an' I made it back to Caer Scima.
[She had to take a fairy ring to get there, but they're back there nonetheless.]
I'm just...tired I suppose.
