Okay. [ Kelsi takes a deep breath, trying not to look too frazzled. She's feasted, woken up, and...Nope. She's still here. She takes a quick breath and offers a shy, slightly waning smile to the network of lockets. She's in her room--it's one of the smaller ones--and Ryan Evans can be seen in the background with his eyes closed, doing yoga. More specifically, parsvottasana pose. Kelsi seems completely oblivious. ] So this isn't a dream, that's--great. [ That's one word for it ] Which means if we're all here for a very long time, it's probably a good idea to say hi? So...

[ A little awkward, but she lifts her hand in greeting, the smile completely gone after her hand moves to fall on her lap. ] Hi. I'm Kelsi, and if there are any Wildcats out there, please let me know? At first I thought this was a dream, except normally my dreams involve East High still, and musical signups, sometimes I dream about tea, and--oh! Right. I also wanted to know if anyone here has a good singing voice. And maybe if you were okay with letting me hear it?

It's not for something weird! I promise, I promise, it's just--If I'm going to be here for a while, I might as well do something. Like write, right? [ Wow Kels, way to not tell people what you actually do. ]

One last little thing--if anyone was going to university or college for music composition, I'd really like to get into contact with you. There's this bit in one of my text books that's really confusing to me for some reason. Thanks!

[ She ends it with a little wave--and throughout this entire conversation, Ryan has moved to Downward Dog, and eventually to a handstand. ]

I am glad you thought so, mistress. That tale was written by one who loved the Lady Luthien dearly, Daeron of Doriath, quite possibly the greatest bard to ever live - certainly the greatest of his people. He was the flutist who played for her you see, but her eyes turned only to Beren.

Oh.

I don't know how to play any instruments.

[ Oh no 'calm yourself, child' and Kelsi is immediately reminded of pretty much any time she accidentally freaked out at her mom told her to chill. In nicer words, of course. ]

I... Gosh, that's--that's incredible. I was sort of joking, but... Wow.

So it's just you, and not other Elfs? [ PAuse. ] ...Elves...?

[No she hasn't, but she doesn't smile a whole lot with people she doesn't know.]

Perhaps that would be something to keep in mind. Not everyone is as forgiving as I am.

[He would shrug if he wasn't busy centering himself, so instead he's just breathing deeply and keeping his eyes shut, listening to what she's saying.

He's not stupid though. He knows that it's actually sort of terrifying for her still and that they are two completely different people in that regard.]

That's a really good goal, but make sure you don't burn yourself out. [He opens one eye then.] Even I get tired of people now and then. [Eye. Closed.

Of course Kelsi's totally excluded from that. He's pretty sure he could't shake her off anyway even if he wanted to. Deep inhale…exhale.]

Or wizards. Or zombies. Oooor dragons. I think Juilliard was just preparing us for the culture shock that comes from this world. I've been here a while and I'm still meeting people that shouldn't really "exist."

[And because it's Kelsi, he knows he can tell her the one thing that's sort of been bothering him about all of this.]

It's like we're the ones that don't belong, not the other way around. I'm not used to being abnormal. [Not fitting in, sure, but that was minor and that was rectified thanks to befriending the Wildcats. This is different.]

Daeron of Doriath... [ She horribly mispronounces it, of course--the American accent and the foreign words. 'Day-rawn of door-rye-ath' ]

Unrequited love. [ Yeah, she knows all about that. Mainly from watching Ryan pine. ]

One day, I want to compose music like that. Stuff that's just so beautiful--so people like you can see it, ma'am. I mean--oh, uh, I mean sir. Sir?

[ Shut up. Move on. ]

...You can, uh. You can just call me Kelsi. Or Kels.

Dai-e-ron and Dor-ee-ath [ Maglor corrects with a small smile ]

And I am a sir rather than a ma'am, although you may call me Maglor, Kelsi. Daeron and I were... I suppose you would say contemporaries, although I met him but the once, and the Lay is widely regarded his greatest work, as the Noldolante is mine, or so I have been told. If the love of beauty dwells so within your heart, I have no doubt that you will succeed.

Seriously, though--thanks! I'll catch up with you when I have a rough draft planned out, okay?

[ Kelsi doesn't exactly hesitate, but she does look thoughtful for a few moments before pulling her beanie from her head and gently sliding her glasses off of her face and to the side. A small tug and her wool cardigan comes off, too, and she's just in a dress and leggings.

Yes, Ryan, she's going to start doing yoga with you because of that answer. Even if she only sort of knows how. ]

There's not fitting in, and then there's not belonging.

[ An agreement to what he's saying. An 'I understand.' ]

...And then there's us.

[Even with his eyes shut he can tell she's moving. It comes from not only being heavily aware of his surroundings but also just from being around Kelsi herself all the time. His sense of spatial awareness is probably more fine-tuned than most people's so the minute she's next to him he's coming out of his handstand and sitting down, opening his eyes to look at her.]

You still think we're the exception here? [He makes a face, moving forward to carefully rearrange her form so she doesn't hurt herself.] I mean I'm kind of wondering if there's such a thing as not fitting in here but you gotta admit it's weird.

[And with a nod, Saber ended the communication.]

[Fun fact: The mom tone apparently does not change that much across species. "Chill" is pretty much exactly what Galadriel meant.]

It is not a unique talent, by any means, but it is not something to be expected from every elf, no- certainly not to the degree I posses it.

[ Wait.

no, wait, hang on. Back up. Just a bit. ]

But you said their descendants 'grew', not 'will grow.' And you're saying you knew him?

It's like we're here to remind people how normal things can be. [ It's the first tone of slight disappointment, but she's trying her best not to show it. ]

It is hard to judge exactly, for I was born in the years before moon and sun, but I have seen, I think, by your count some three thousand years of the sun or so.

I have several, in fact. [Though it seems that she doesn't intend to specify.] It may interest you to know that where I am from song itself may be a form of Power. Great battles have been fought with its use and, indeed, it is said that the world itself was sung into creation.

[ Kelsi starts to laugh. She can't really keep the yoga post up while she does so, but she doesn't really care--she feels like she really needs it.

Trust Ryan to lift her spirits. ]

Taylor would be organizing the armory by now.
