[Fortunate. Yes, that's a good word for it. First the Ainsels and now these things. Margaery is outside the castle and moving quickly, glancing back over her shoulder as she goes. There is an unconscious fairy in one hand, and her hawk, Valiant, perched on her gloved one.

The hawk is quite noticeably missing a few feathers.]

If anyone has a hound and would be so kind as to escort me back to my chambers, I would be forever grateful.

[Her words sound the same as ever, language fitting of a highborn lady. But there's a little quiver to her voice too. The feeling of being hunted will do that to you.]

I also have gold, if that's more to your liking.

[Because sometimes (most of the time) gratitude only gets you so far.]

[She hears them, the approach of a rider and the baying of a hound. Margaery hurries in that direction, the tall grasses whipping at her skirts. It's only now that she dares to look back for any pursuing shadows, sees one just emerging from the shadow of a willow several yards away.]

[It's a strange magic word, but most probably are. What's important is that it makes the thing shrink back. Margaery shouts it again, her hawk shrieking as if to be her chorus. She's even more breathless by the time she reaches Gendry.]

There! Do you see it!

I can protect her. [ besides, sansa isn't going anywhere.] She's staying in her rooms.

Do you think she can find me? I could send my birds to guide her, but-

[The shadows find them crunchy.]

She knows who you are. [ at least, arya thinks she should. and nymeria is frankly anxious to get out, she's been whining at the door for hours.]

A Mage?

[Margaery accepts his arm gratefully, both for the company and the familiarity of the action. It's something that not all know about here.]

Does that mean you know magic?

I hope so.

She'll find me in the meadow near to the castle. She won't take long, will she? Four legs are faster than two.

She's fast and smart. And she's anxious to get out of these rooms. [ and arya might be talking about herself as well. she's only managed to stabbity, stab one of the shadows before nymeria scared them off.]

Then I shall do my best to keep these things at bay until she reaches me.

I've just sent her, she should be there soon. Once she gets there, you just take her where you want to go. [ and hopefully nymeria will mind her.]

Back to the castle would be fine, but if she wants to stretch her legs [and bite shadows] more, I won't deny her. I'm sure I'll stay under her protection wherever we go.

She'll bring you back. [ and then she can explore as she will.]

[ The look he gives her is soft, grateful, and he nods his head. ]

I have much to tell you, some which I am sure you would scarcely believe. Will you come to me soon?

...A patronus. Er, it's the shape of a dog, but it's not exactly real.

Your companion is as valiant as mine is in name. Unfortunately the shadows seem to have a taste for hawks.

Indeed. [He lays a gloved hand over her hand, attempting to offer her further comfort.] I am a fully trained Herald and Mage, which means I can serve as a Knight and a Mage should the occasion call for it.

Aye! And so does the hound! Get it, boy!

[The hound is loosed from its leash and goes racing in a frenzy after the shadow. Gendry is left to dismount, feeling perhaps a little too proud of his rescue. Even if the dog is doing all the work. The shadow tries to flee, but it can't outrace the hound.]

There, I think that will be the end of that one, m'lady.
