Because a property inherent in the fortress we seek is that magic is rendered unusable in and around it. This is impossible to negate.

Your presence, however, would be greatly appreciated. Do give your dryads my sincerest apologies for pulling you away from them.

I see. That will, indeed, be troublesome--but, I should have no issue. My only use of magic boosts my physical strength and enhances my weapons.

Can you tell me what sort of objective we have in this fortress? I may need to pick up a particular weapon best suited for the situation.

Okay, it seems like she expected I'd get there ahead of you then, since she's making Alyosha an offer that I presume would explain why you're being sent in to give her a hand. I have a distinct feeling you'll end up beating me there.

That, I will let those who I've chosen for the task know. Were it not a matter of importance I wouldn't be so secretive.

A steel shield. If you can find anyone who's made one of tungsten, then I'll take it. Next, I'll need a steel lance--you need not have it sharpened. I can sharpen it, myself. However--the entire body of the lance must be steel.

Finally, a light wood-stock war-club. If you can provide a nail-head for the end of it, that would work, but I can still modify it quickly, myself.

I'll go to the smithy and see what I can do. [if she relayed his words to the smiths directly, they would know if things were on hand rather than her having to guess.]

When can I anticipate your joining us?

As well as could be expected. The recent battle was somewhat taxing.

[getting hit by lightning, knocked around by a warhammer, and seeing a friend sacrifice himself just might have left her feeling a little less than 100%.]

The queen did ask this of me. There isn't a direct relation to the Seelie that I heard of, but rumour has it that they're setting out to the fortress as well. To their aims, I can only guess.

[and by rumour, she means information she tore from Mako's soul.]
