[ Thorin looks at Kíli in surprise, though the words are something that pleases him to hear, at least. Perhaps his own back then had not been the best, but it seems that his nephew took some time to think on them regardless. ]

My own words did not come as I wanted them to either. [ In the tone it is clear he accepts the apology, and he offers one of his own, in a way, hidden behind the words. ] You must understand why I did it. I had to leave you behind, it was too dangerous. You would have died, Kíli, and possibly your brother as well, knowing him as I do. I could not bear that.
