[It had been since the return of the Monarchs since any had seen the face of the one on the lockets, heard the voice of the General, but here she was in full armor, silver crown upon her head, and a regal blue and white cloak upon her shoulders. The backdrop of one of her banners - blue with a white dragon upon it - would be seen behind her. For those more familiar with her, there was a bit more color in her hair than before she had fallen asleep, but it was still too pale to those that knew Saber before the corruption had seeped into her. And for those that knew Saber well, they may notice that she actually looked rested for once.]

Allow me to offer my apologies to you all for my absence. I see that it has come at great cost to the Unseelie. I will not dwell upon what may have been had I not fallen to the unnatural slumber I had been in, but shall look to the future. Much has changed since May, and though it gladdens my heart that our great Monarchs stand tall and that our Seelie enemies have lost one of their pillars, there is much that must still be done. The Void grows ever closer, our enemies bolder, and the gods stir.

I will be visiting all Spires and major settlements over the next week. There is much that I need to see and many to speak with. Captains, Lieutenants, I expect status reports immediately. Barons, I will be seeing you all soon. Anyone else that wishes to speak with me will find that I will make time for them.

For those of you recently arrived, welcome to Allaidh Darach. I am Saber - the General of the Unseelie forces. If you need purpose, you need a place in this war you have been unfairly brought into, I will find you one. Time is no longer a luxury we can afford.

[OOC EDIT: ICly on 6/25, a messenger finally catches up to Saber to inform her that Balor(NPC) was appointed general while Saber was asleep and she now reports to him. Anything in this post occurs before then. Private messages will be sent to the new characters apologizing for the misunderstanding.]

[ That much is obvious, but for a girl who hallucinates so much, it's a little hard for her to understand. ]

I suppose so. My nights of sleep were always full of instruction.

Hard work hardly equates to dreamless sleep.

[ A pause. ]

Or does it? How do you make it so?

You would need to ask my mentor. I do not know the answer.

[She half-suspects that it could be someone else from her legend, but Alice doesn't want to jump to conclusions. She offers a slow nod, and then, finally, a soft smile. ]

I'm very happy to see that you're well. You frightened me when you didn't respond.

My apologies. I had some personal matters to attend to before I looked at my locket. Had you not seen this message, I would have come to visit.

No.

[ Alice just shakes her head. She doesn't like to admit the silence where Saber was asleep scared her more than she cared to admit. ]

You have many things on your shoulders, I would not dare to pressure you into coming to see me.

You would not have pressured me at all. It would have been my choice.

Ah, but-

[ She grows awkward. ]

It's more than that.

[ It'd be better if she blurted it out, she felt. ]

You worry me. Remember the tourney? It was good to see you without the obligations of a general or more. When was the last time you really enjoyed yourself here without those obligations?

[She wasn't sure. The day she donated some of her prize money from the tournament to Alice in her armored disguise of Wart? Maybe.]

It... is hard to say.

[ Really, Alice has no room to talk in this regard. She's starting to become terrible about her own self-care. So, she smiles to Saber. ]

I wish I could say I was surprised. You'll work yourself into the grave... or whatever the equivalent is for a heroic spirit. Hopefully none, whatsoever. Then, at least, when was the last time you had a good meal?

[Food was a good way to get Saber to smile.]

Approximately three hours ago. The cooks here have missed me.

[ She really can't say she's surprised; Saber must have honed in on the kitchen the moment she woke up. ]

As busy as you keep them? I'm surprised.

[ She teases! ]

Then allow me to try again: you are always welcome here for a meal, Saber. This time, I have some helpers.

[Saber was content to let Alice assume she was at Caer Scima and not Maupertius. She didn't advertise who her Master was, though some certainly knew. Including some enemies, unfortunately.]

Have they become that handy in the kitchen? I will have to see this for myself.

They're learning, slowly but surely.

[It is nice, because it means someone can operate a stove, something that Alice has been genuinely terrified of. She nearly laughs. ]

Little skill sets -- sewing, caring for animals, and cooking. It'd be good for them, it'll make them feel better knowing someone would enjoy their cooking. Ah, but, don't you worry -- I supervise them, as well.

[Something occurred to her.]

How many pets does your house have now?

They'll be thrilled to meet you, Saber. One of them is the son of a man who perished in battle.

[ Oh, crap. ]

Pets? Oh, ah- Well, I've always had my rabbit, Sophie. Then there's my bandersnatch and chocobo. And Mr. Iskander gave the children a goat.

I did not realize goats were considered pets.

He may as well be; if he were anything less, it would upset the children.a goat isn't that much different than a dog, I think.

I shall take your word for it as I have little experience with pets. I cannot quite tell if Rin's little chocobo is supposed to be as... round as it is or not. It is much plumper than Puff was at that age.

[digophelia]

Is it fairly young? Mimsy was a little round when he was an infant, but that may not be an appropriate comparison.

It is young... but it reminds me of a ball more than a bird.

It will grow out of it; think of it as a chubby baby who will grow up and become leaner.

[Saber wasn't so sure of that considering how much Rin fed it, but she believed Alice had a far better idea of baby things than she did.]

I shall hope it will grow big and strong. It certainly eats enough.

[ Alice knows more than she probably should. She has had too many baby animals. ]

Oh, yes, yes it shall! As long as he eats healthy, of course and get plenty of exercise. Ah- Mr. Diarmuid's chocobo was fond of shiny objects -- that may be something you ought to be careful with, too.
