Of the Cult? It's exact origins are... complex, tied in with many things. It arose after the death of Reynard the Fox, who was... well, he used to be a shardbearer like ourselves. He lost his shard in a battle long ago, held a fortress in Maupertius. He battled both courts, and the natives felt that he was standing for them -- pushing back the courts and fighting for them where the courts trampled them underfoot. I... am not so sure that is true. Reynard had his own reasons. Yet in his death he became a martyr. They took the image of a fox, and mixed it with that of a man known as Martin Maskmaker. He is said to be the first shardbearer, I believe.
