[There is the distinct sound of construction and training in the background when Beatrix turns on her locket.]

This is Baroness Beatrix. I am looking to hire someone familiar with the application of magic and machinery. Specifically combining them into a single function.

This would be a long-term project that would have you traveling between the Station and the Three Sentinels with some frequency.

[And with her piece said, she closes her locket. Some people just aren't very good at being chatterboxes.]

We don't have the luxury of time to waste.

[Midna can't offer to help, but just the fact that Beatrix is looking to hire someone to do this is interesting enough.]

I was unaware something of the sort was possible. I suppose here, anything would be with the right set of hands. I'll be interested to see the results, provided there's someone who's capable of just such a thing.

It is. We had similar systems on my own world, though they clearly wouldn't function here.

[Beatrix doesn't have much hope at this point.]

I suppose it will depend on if I can find anyone willing to try.

It does sound like a complicated undertaking. I was unsure of what skills the Unseelie Court consisted of. I suppose I am more surprised at a lack of magic ability. Or if it could be that the attention of others is elsewhere.

[Considering all that's happened, perhaps people are still scurrying about. Like mice. Because that's what they are, really.]

I don't think the seelie will be attacking again anytime soon.

No, I doubt they will either.

But the refugees scattered by their attack require places to sleep and food to eat, and the winter is not making any of that easier. Or giving us ample time to do something about it.

I believe it is a lack of both that are keeping people away. I should have been more specific, I suppose. Though our court does not lack for talented people in both fields..

I would settle for a magical system and a mechanical system that are simply able to interact.

And combining magic and technology will do that? How?

I am working on several projects at the moment, that is only important to one of them.

Any luck finding someone who can do something like that? Doesn't sound too common.

I'm uncertain of how you could have been anymore clear. I know nothing of machinery, and yet even I knew what you were attempting to accomplish. The two concepts seem very common sense.

[But she supposes that perhaps not all worlds are familiar with either term.]

If it were more convenient to create such a connection, this might have been accomplished sooner.

Hello Shijima. [Hey look someone she knows.] A means of transportation between my spire and the station, if possible.

Perhaps. I feel as though there is a bias here against technology that many natives tend to follow.

It doesn't help that most of it simply won't function away from the station.

Beatrix. [ She...rarely uses people's titles and probably won't start any time soon. But there's immediate interest. ] What sort of transportation? Machinery and magic...

A bias against it? For the sense of unfamiliarity? [Because Midna can relate to that. If she's not familiar with it, she does earnestly believe she probably shouldn't be sticking her nose into a situation that involves it. At least, not in any situation where she'd be playing a prominent role.]

Or for some other reason? And if it was necessary by the station, I hardly see how that could be too troublesome. A good place to stay if one needed it. And practical for research.

Maybe you could just get someone good at magic and someone else good at technology and have them work together?

That is a possibility. Having them perform their functions as one unit would be an added complication though.

Maybe, but still better than finding no one at all for whatever project you've got going on.
