[Flora is primly seated with her back straight and resting against a tree.]

Hello everyone and good day to you. For those that don't know it, my name is Flora. It's very nice to meet you and I really hope you're well, especially after what's happened. [She dips her head in greeting, and there is a gentle attentiveness to her eyes as she broadcasts; her words and concern are not surface pleasantries.]

I'll get right to it: I know that some of us were stranded following the mission, so if you need a lift, I'd be more than happy to help bring you back. I do understand wanting to take the scenic route, though; getting the lay of the land is rather important, too. There's a lot out there that's very interesting. [Her eyes light up and her smile widens for a long moment.] Like, there are so many wonderful plants here, I can hardly believe it. I--I am about to get carried away, pardon me.

[There's a delicate noise as she raises a fist and clears her throat. She smiles anew and sincerely, but not quite so wide this time and there's something almost anxious about it, like she wants to say something else, but the moment passes because she wills it to. This isn't the time to share, yet, but maybe she can meet somewhere in the middle.]

I am curious, though, if you feel comfortable answering. How many of you come from worlds with magic? How many of you don't?

There is no magic in the world I am from. Only technology.

[That doesn't entirely surprise her, but it is a curiosity. She tilts her head a little.]

Is that so? Where are you from, if I may ask, Sir?

Magic only exists in stories and legends, where I'm from. But I've seen things that come pretty close.

[That piques her interest quite a good deal.]

Really, have you? Like what, exactly? [She can't help it, she's curious, especially the part where he thinks it's pretty close. For her something is magic, or it isn't, even if that in and of itself is infinitely broad.]

Ah, I'm sorry, I'm Flora by the way.

... My name's Tsurugi. Nice to meet you.

To answer your question, certain people in my world have abilities fueled by spiritual power. Things like projecting your aura into a physical form, or fighting with your essence. Apparently, in the future, they evolved into super strength and psychic powers and the like, but they got too dangerous, so the users decided to suppress them. [ Not without a fight, but that's a long, unbelievable story. ]

I don't know if I'd call it magic - but, it's a lot like magic.

Hmmm, I would definitely call it that. Magic is pretty broad, but...did they do it completely? They can't use that at all, any more?

[The suppression bothers her, a little. Some powers are just too much too hard to control, but those are most often sought, not things people are born with. She doesn't know everything, though, she easily concedes that.]

Yeah. There wasn't much of a choice. It was an incredible power that went beyond ordinary humans, but it also shortened their lifespans to about 20 years. Getting rid of it was the only way they'd be able to lead ordinary lives.

T-twenty?! [She can't help raising a hand to her mouth in shock.] see. I suppose that is for the best, then.

[Yeah, she can't argue that one.]

It's a shame it had to be that way though. Magic can be very hard sometimes, but it shouldn't take away from your life. It sounds like you were involved, though, were you?

[Flora brightens, suddenly.]

Usagi, hello! And, really? What is it, and what would you call it, then?

[She's interested, but also teasing just slightly; if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck. Or a wizard.]

[ He gives a wry smile. That about sums it up—there's no point in a power you can't live to use. ]

... It's a long story, but I was. [ It actually feels weird talking about, since he wouldn't be able to back home, the sort of fantastical thing that people probably wouldn't believe or receive well. But in a place like this, there isn't much need to stick to what's normal. ]

[Clearly, they just need to come here and get boons! 8D]

Ah, I didn't mean to pry, I'm sorry. I suppose I really have a large interest with things that do with magic.

Magic is a secret in my world - and you have to fight to get it. But it's there.

[ He smiles a little at the feed. ] You like plants, huh?

Do you, now? How so, and which world is this?

[She's curious, not disturbed or anything of the sort. That's basically her life.

At the mention of plants, though, she smiles back, brightly.]

Oh yes, very much! They're one of the most important things to me, but I think they're just really important on their own, too.

I don't think it really... has a name. Not like this place. I live in a place named Tokyo, though. [ He pauses, thoughtful. ]

People with magic in my world have to see despair... and move past it. [ Generally. This is something of an oversimplification, but he doesn't want to get too heavy two minutes after meeting a pretty girl. This is hard when your name is Haruto Souma. Appreciate his efforts, Flora. ]

I can tell - and not just because you're named Flora. [ Maybe it's a happy coincidence. ] I'm not very good at keeping flowers, but they seem to cheer people up. [ And if that's not magic, what is? ]

Ah, no, that's not what I meant. I don't have anything like that myself, I was just caught up in what led them to give up their power. I can use the spiritual power I mentioned earlier, but the kind that goes beyond that and drains your life comes from a genetic mutation that doesn't appear until a while in the future. ... The future part's what makes it a long story.

[ time travel is a good way to sound completely insane. and so is the rest, which is why he can't normally talk about this with anyone. ]

[Tsurugi you got dragged into a faerie war it's not like you could do much worse.] Oh, I see, so it really is a long story. [And not a way to dodge. That's cool. Oh, so much of this is interesting to her, she's not sure where to start! She smiles casually.] So, if it happens in the future, did you end up in the future somehow?

[She's like pretty sure that's in Japan, and by pretty sure, she means 100%.

Which is actually a confusing point because she's pretty sure that that's not how that happened when they brought magic back....

But you're a gentleman and a bro, haruto, four for you, even if her curiosity might get the better of her. Still, even that much leaves her frowning, more thoughtful than concerned but there is that, too.]

I can't say that that isn't familiar in some ways, sort of. [Sure, she almost died one time but there was no despair about it, so it totally doesn't count. haruto's got it worse.] The overcoming element definitely is, but hold on, despair? That can't be right for everyone.

[And here is where universe conflicts begin.]

Yes, they're really wonderful at that! Some of them can be just a little high maintenance, it's true, but they all do their best to bloom as beautifully as they can. But hey, don't sell yourself short, I'm sure you'd be just fine, maybe with a bit of help. [Boy, you will come to regret your life choices, just you wait.]

Yeah, it's on Earth. [ He raises his eyebrows, then hums. ] No, it's... definitely despair, where I come from. You overcome your inner monster, called a Phantom, and hold onto hope. If you can do that, then you can become a wizard.

[ He snorts, looking off-screen. ] You say that like you know for sure. [ Flowers had always been something of Koyomi's. He rifles, off-screen, for the ring that summoned flowers, that he'd received in the Magic Land, and holds it between his palms as he looks back at her, humor in his voice. ] But maybe I'll have more luck with a good teacher.

Yes! I've actually been there! [She grins, and laughs a little behind a hand.] I see what you mean about the name thing. It's a little strange to me since it's mostly water, but "Earth" sounds like a pretty fine name. It grows on you, too.

But she suddenly looks at a loss, and upset.]

Phantoms? But how is that...it's not that I don't think it's true, I do, and I'm sorry if it seemed like I didn't. I just can't believe we haven't noticed them before.

Flora makes an excited noise and actually raises her hand. Oh! Oh! Pick her, Haruto!!!]

Oh! I could do that! I could teach you. I'd love to, if you'd like to learn.

Oh my goodness, though, I haven't asked your name, yet.

Yeah. Our enemy at the time was from 200 years in future, and they were trying to rewrite history so the mutated genes I was talking about would be written out of existence. But my friends and I couldn't accept the changes they were making to our world, so we went through time to try and gain the power to stop them and restore the timelines. Although we eventually ended up allies. Since they couldn't beat us, they decided it would be more effective to join us instead.

I'm glad that ended well for you. I've done a few things and been to some other places, but never like that, before. Even if it was for a purpose, it still must have been an adventure.

[She smiles, both dreamy and excited.]

I mean, you went through time! Time! That had to have been something, though isn't that at least a little dangerous?

It was pretty dangerous. Some of the time periods weren't particularly safe, and there was also the risk of changing history and messing up our world. But we made a lot of friends along the way, and what we took back was worth it.

[ he smiles as he says that. he's still not used to talking about this, since back home there'd been an unspoken rule not to mention it to any who wasn't directly involved, but it looks like he's getting a little nostalgic. ]

[He's a touch unsure of how to answer the question, but he does his best.]

Earth. Most recently, the year 1995.

Oh! Well then, I'm sad to have missed you when you came to visit. [ HARUTO NO. ]

Where do you live, that you... visit Earth? [ Are you an alien, Flora. That would be so cool but also kind of weird because you look normal. ]

Well, if you're offering, I'll take you up on it... when you get here. [ He gestures above; he's inside somewhere, but it's probably recognizable as Caer Glaem. ] Or maybe we'll meet on the road.

[ He smirks, all dramatics: ] I'm Haruto Souma, your last hope. [ The dramatics fade. ] It's nice to meet you, Flora.

[She can't help smiling at that.]

Well, I do come to Earth pretty often, it's like a third home of sorts. [Which would sound a lot more terrible and ominous if she were an evil alien. Which she's not.

I'm from a planet called Linphea, it's in the Magic Dimension.

[She giggles behind a hand, this time before sounding dramatically relieved in turn.] Well, it's a good thing you've come then, I've just been at such a loss!

[She grins and dips her head.] It's nice to meet you, too. Ah, as for the flowers...[She sighs a little] If there's some sort of neat designated space, I haven't found it quite yet. It might be something I'll ask for from the Monarchs the next time around.

[The corner of a mouth pulls down, not quiiite annoyed but almost. Almost. The only thing she would have had to ask for is permission to do so, if she still had some of her powers. How inconvenient.]
