None that I know of. It is said that they have been there since our birth, that their power is part of what makes our worlds. I cannot explain, I fear, for the concept is far beyond me -- but... I can believe it. There are so many strange things I have seen here, people so different to what I know, and it is true enough that these things have magic in them. I have never used it myself, yet in learning about this shard it feels as if it is magic I am using.
