Gracious, one might almost believe that we were playing hide-and-seek.

[ Felix drawls. The words are carefully picked with a leisured scorn, but they don’t do much to hide his growing flush ... or the twigs and leaves tangled in his hair. A fat green caterpillar inches its way across a shoulder, and something chitters from out view.

The heavy trees of La Llorona droop dark over the little path behind him, their branches like so many grasping fingers. He can't be very far into the forest, but the way is overgrown, and the trail plainly disused.

As far as Felix is concerned, it’s still the ninth month, and he’s still traveling to the Station with a troll and a god in tow. ]

As my erstwhile traveling companions appear to have taken the maps, supplies, and horses along upon their game, I find myself tasked with troubling assistance from any amongst you with more familiar with —

[ A yelp, and the locket drops. A few moments later, a visibly more harried-looking Felix scowls back into view, his eyes shot wide. An enormous, hairy leg twitches feebly from the edge of the frame, trailing a hazy line of green smoke. ]

— The forest, and its bug problems.

Where are you trying to go?

[ Not that Sif would call herself familiar with either the forest or the bug problem but she does have a flying horse.

Even if Felix rather seems like the sort of man that she would be wanting to push off that horse after about three seconds.

Still, being annoying is not an offence punishable by getting eaten by giant bugs. ]

[Oh. My. God. What?

It takes him a second to register the face, another few to believe it.]

Felix?

Were you abandoned in the woods?

[Don't take it personally that he hadn't realized you'd left. He's been busy and more often away from Caer Scima than not.]

...are you all right?

[Ears swivel during locket perusal.

Say -- that's what-was-his-name Felix's voice, isn't it - been some time! He looks into the locket with an amount of eagerness, which... shifts to a back edge. That looks lost...]

Man... What woods are those?

-- Uhh - there's no way that's near Caer Glaem...!

[Or is there? Correct him if he's wrong! But, well, Felix is of the Unseelie court, and those do not look like Seelie woods, and if they did, heck, Toboe would ask the other wolves if they might keep their senses alert for the fellow.]

It's nice to see some more familiar faces.

Chiefly?

[ The words are a touch clipped, some of their swagger lost to the enormous fucking spider on its back behind him. ]

Out of here.

[ Helpful, Felix. So helpful. ]

Oh, good! You hadn't forgotten my name, only my person.

[ He snaps. Felix still isn't entirely certain how they managed to take off without his notice -- he's no sort of heavy sleeper -- but he's in too foul a mood right now to question that.

Or why there's a winter wind through the trees, and shed leaves in some thickets.

Look, critical thinking isn't always his strong suit. ]

[ He's spent enough of his snarl on Sif and Vol'jin to calm a little now. Felix just sounds a bit deflated. He nudges the charred spider with a toe, grimacing as it twitches into a new spasm. ]

Though saints if I can work out how they managed it.

[ it's cool bruh he hasn't realized that either ]

[ Nerdanel. Perhaps the last person he wants to see while in such a black temper. He's betrayed enough discomposure in her presence before already.

Felix runs his fingers through his hair, visibly attempting to smooth his expression back into impassiveness. It only sort of succeeds. ]

Fine, thank you -- merely quite lost.

[ A frown to the side, and he slips his gloves back on. ]

And rather hoping there aren't more of those.

[ Felix is fairly certain that he shouldn't be pleased to see a wolf -- talking or otherwise -- but the occasion seems to warrant it. Animals have a way with these things, don't they? Or at least, he can hope.

Whatever hope there was is dashed quite abruptly, however, when Toboe makes his deduction. Right. Seelie. ]

Rather closer to Caer Scima, I believe.

[ He sounds tired. ]

They call it La Llorona -- powers only know whether I'm pronouncing that correctly.

Or read them, as it were. I don't suppose you've any passing familiarity with the habits of enormous arachnids.

[ The spider waves one spasming leg back and forth, slowly. Hi Adler!!! ]

Did you fall asleep? When did you last see them?

[automatic questions layered with an expression of uncertain concern. he's mostly just in it for the vaguely entertaining conversation anyway.]

[ He tosses up a gloved hand: Who knows. ]

We camped some ways down that path, the night prior. But I remember waking, and --

[ Felix shakes his head into an irritable grimace. ]

-- The last that I remember, we were readying to leave. But upon walking back into the clearing, they were gone.

Have a care for the trees. [ Maglor recognises that forest, oh yes. ]

If you can last til moonrise, I can come and bring you to safety - I think I know where you are - you do not seem too far down the path.

[ Don't be testy now, sir, for all she knows you were trying to get further into bug territory, maybe you are hunting them on something.

Look, going out to battle giant spiders for fun makes perfect sense to an Asgardian. ]

And "here" is...?

[ Because no, seeing some random trees is not actually enough for her to know where he is, if he wants her to come pick him up. It might not even make sense for her to try it, since that could possibly take days depending on where those random trees happen to be growing. ]

Not in a way that might end up helping you, I'm afraid.

I am sure Makalaurë would be happy to get you unlost. Although, that is half the fun. Shall I send him your way?

[Aw, don't be like that, bru?

Look, despite how mad he is, does he notice the whole, you know, sitting in a "comfy" stone room at the castle? Because yeah. That's where he is right now.

He looks very concerned! Does that win him points?]

What happened? Where'd'ja go, mon?

[ Being lost is -- upon rare occasion -- useful in certain matters. Divining, dreaming, or stumbling into an acquaintance. Being lost has its time and place. But Felix can't envision a world where it's ever any shade of fun. Least of all with spiders.

Yet more evidence that elves are completely insane. ]

Beg pardon -- Makalaure?

[ He parrots the word easily enough, though it might as well be pidgin to his ears. ]

[She nods.]

Yes, my son. My secondborn. Dark hair, musician... I suppose you know him by the Sindarized version, Maglor. Makalaurë is the name I gave him at birth.

Lord Felix! [Flora is surprised, confused, and glad all at once.] When did you get back?

Did you have anything of value for them to take, or did you just annoy the wrong people?

[He'd not know exactly how far it is - still hasn't learned to read map text properly! - but close to Caer Scima is... certainly far enough.]

Ugh, rats... [A little light, floating as much as a short sigh can be - it can afford not to be urgent-urgent, from the looks of it; tired, Felix may sound, but pained would be a more serious matter! His voice practically mumbles along from there, though; doesn't look like it'll do anything now and prob'ly best not to go raising an alarm, still; half imagining himself in those woods...]

If you were somewhere close these woods I was gonna ask my new wolf friends if they could keep an eye out for you and help you get out! Or if they could ask some friends, but uh - that sucks, I'm sorry...

Err -- [On that prior assumption - sharpens posture, and brightness of tone, if tentatively!] you're not in any trouble out there! Right? -- Other than the being lost...!

[But of a jump forth from that previous hushing of tone but alas.]

[ Felix sighs. It's rather more dramatic than the situation warrants, but at least it shakes off some of his irritation, back into plain conversation.

Or what passes for it, in a forest so comically dreary as to make for a stage set. ]

La Llorona -- it's near enough to Caer Scima, unseelie holdings. Couldn't give you the faintest impression as to where within, however.
