3rd Chassé | Video for Both Courts

[After the madness of the dogs, Ryan's mostly taken to spending time holed up in his room in the castle with Kelsi and her specialty-made tea, readjusting to make things more normal again.

Of course then he wakes up to a message from her.

"❤To Mr. Fred Astaire❤
I got asked to go on a quest!!!!!
It's alright, Sif is with me. We're going to deal with a manticore. I don't know what that is but I brought a few books of me along the way.
See you when I get back!

PS. I took your hat so I won't feel so lonely. Sorry!"

There were several things wrong with the equation:

1.) Kelsi ended up going on a quest.
2.) Kelsi ended up going on a quest without him.
3.) Kelsi ended up going on a quest without him and with his hat.

Then there was also the other question…who the hell is Sif?

Fine. Whatever. He can deal with being apart for a few days. Anyway he had his own business to go about. He needs to get back to his training and the longer he puts off the advice from Queen Solais, the worse off he'll be.

When the video on his locket clicks on anyone watching will notice that Ryan's sitting on a cliff in the sunken ruins. He's busy watching a small group of mermaids swimming below him and the bit of sunlight filtering through the cracks in the walls are bouncing off of his hair now that it's not sheltered by one of his hats. He's humming a song under his breath for a few moments as he continues to watch, only mildly aware he's even humming that particular song to set the mood. Maybe he was more homesick now than he initially thought. Whatever. He can't do anything about that now, he has other goals to reach.

Truth be told, he's kind of wondering if he should ask at all considering everything else that's going on right now. Yeah. He's aware of the things happening at Redgate. He's heard the broadcasts from other people, but…

…but if he doesn't ask now, how the hell is he supposed to really help in the future?]

Weird question. If you were a mermaid, what would be the most flattering thing a person could tell you?

[A beat.]

Scientific purposes only, I swear.

B-Because they'll drown you or force you to grow gills or something else completely against your wishes. Do you want to be a fish face?!

[ DOES HE? ] It isn't as if you can show up, splash around with them, and then get them to do whatever it is you want.
notyetlegend: (same name same face)

Why would you tell flatterin' things tae a mermaid in th' first place?

What. [ No really: what?? ]

I advise not telling your mermaid friend that. She might want to keep you down in the depths if so... and I'm not entirely sure if you can open a locket underneath the water. Can you?
all7seas: (that's not very nice)

They love commentary about their hair, actually. Don't mention the bosoms.

[Jack is kind of an expert at this.]
notyetlegend: (I'm just a girl my apologies)

[You just get a puzzled look, sry Ryan]

Ye do know that mermaids drown people, right?

video;

[personal profile] gandere 2014-11-25 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
No, because I'm afraid they would be envious of me. [ Someone's confident in her looks. ]

Do we know anyone that has? Maybe those with ships, but they're kind of preoccupied right now.

Well there is an old tale that fishermen eat their flesh tae become immortal.

[She shrugs.]

There has to be people with ships. I've been reading into that enough to know such things do exist. [ Just who is a good question. ]

Poor timing to be asking all things considered when the people who could answer are likely caught up in current events. You should work on that.
all7seas: (just a deckhand)

XD

It depends. Are you planning on dabbling in mer-love?

[Yup. He's got stories about that.]

Or are you looking to attract one?

[Lol whut]

I...cannae say I've ever heard of a song like that, an' mum sang tae me a lot when I was a wee lass. Usually tales of heroes an' th' likes, though I've heard of mermaids from travelers.

[She tilts her head.]

There's a few people here that I'd only heard legends of before I came. If they're real, mermaids must be just as real.

Well we did have a huge party last month... [ Then was a good time. ]

What were you busy doing?

...What's a movie?

[Yeah she just asked that question. The fact that he's thinking of Jack Frost is probably going to be hilarious since he's one of her best friends, but STILL]

Aye. My father used tae regale tales of warriors at th' dinner table when he wasn't tellin' his own stories an' my mother would tell me of ancient kings durin' my lessons as an example. It's...unsettlin' some.

[She's trying not to think about witnessing Lancer's warp spasm so she clears her throat at the question.]

Th' beast with th' body of a lion, a human head an' a scorpion's tale? Aye, I've heard of it.
