[ A bedroom beneath the Station. One of the larger ones, given Toothless is there with his head tentatively on the bed taken up by the limp figure of Jack Frost; dark blood looks like it's been cleaned up as best it can, smears remaining on one of Jack's legs around a nasty wound.

Specks of the same old blood can be seen on Hiccup's cheek amongst his freckles when he leans into view. ]

I've heard of people falling asleep for extended periods of time before, but do they often ... go through accidents while they sleep? I, I'm not explaining this very well. Sort of, like they might be getting injured somehow, but they're haven't moved? [ Dressed down for the broadcast in a red hoodie and layered green tshirts, Toothless has similarly had his saddle placed in a corner with Hiccup's armour. They've been here long enough to get into a routine. ] He's also a little dead, but he was that way before. It's more noticeable now since he isn't moving. Or breathing. Also, his clothes changed this one time? Gah!

[ Face-palming in frustration, Hiccup rakes back his hair. ]

See, I don't even know if I need a healer because all his wounds are re-knitting despite the fact he just keeps getting more. I'm not some magical undead warlock, wound-healing, mystical wardrobe stylist. If anybody could shed some light on what's going on, I'd appreciate it — Yeah, bud, what is it?

[ Glancing over his shoulder when the Night Fury whines in distress, Hiccup drops the locket upon seeing a dark bruise spread over their unconscious friend's jaw. ]

Jack —!

( ooc: so arisa is on hiatus for her fancy cruise and jack is being canon updated!! as a sidenote on her behalf, he's going through around 300+ years of accidents and junk as he matures/becomes a pro at what he does, so there are plenty of bruises/fractures/breaks to be seen in the first few days of his enchanted sleep. feel free to notice the signs! c: )

[Alas, right now Galadriel is in Caer Glaem, or else she'd be asking for directions to go sit with Hiccup in person. Instead, he is just getting a response that she hopes will offer some reassurance.]

Some months ago, my daughter fell into a similar sleep. When she awoke, it was as if she had returned to our home and lived a great many years of her life in the short time she slept.

[ His eyes widen as he pays attention, drinking down every word in earnest. ]

Was she hurt while she slept? I'm — I'm sorry to ask, I ... don't know what I'm doing. Should I find a healer? [ Seeking direction, he'll clearly do whatever he's told. ] Can he feel the bruises? It looks like he hit something on one side of his body but he hasn't moved, I've been here the whole time.

Whoa, that sounds serious. But you said he's not moving? Is he making any sounds like he's in pain?

No, he's completely silent. He's not even breathing, even though he never needed to. He's just ... [ Shrugging a little too enthusiastically in his fretting, Hiccup hugs a hand under an arm while gesturing agitatedly with the other. ] He's getting so banged up and he's not even reacting to it, I have no idea what to do besides clean up — clean up the blood.

She was. [Which is why this video is on private; she doesn't want to spread Celebrían's business all over the network.] It was much as you said- her wounds appeared and healed without any aid.

[She hesitates before continuing.] My daughter arrived here from a time far in my past. When I saw her injuries, I knew precisely what had caused them, for I had seen them before.

I cannot know with certainty, but I would suspect when your friend awakens he will, like my daughter, have memories of the events which caused his injuries and of their healing.

This falling into a coma thing is a regular thing here, isn't it? I mean, I guess that's why you're asking around; so someone can tell you if the injuries are normal.

[ She frowns, tilting her head in thought. ]

Maybe try to find a healer who can sense if someone's in pain? If he's healing on his own, it doesn't seem like he'll be in lasting danger.

[ Hiccup pulls a face without meaning to, glancing between Jack and Galadriel with something like trepidation. When he speaks, his voice is a little hoarser. ]

He's going through a lot ... every single hour. [ Here, he shakes his head as if to say What am I supposed to do? ] I can't think what's worse; that he's going through one big, terrible event in his life, or ... that much separately.

Like a seer? Do you think they'd know whether I should be setting his broken bones? I — I want to, I've tried, it just seems a waste of time when he starts getting hurt somewhere else.

[ Gods, he's tried, but he doesn't want to sleep if Merida isn't here to take care of Jack in his stead. ]

Do ... you think he can hear me?

I found a bucket an' a cloth.

[Merida very nearly tumbles back into the room in her hurry, skipping out of the way to avoid Toothless' tail as she ducks into the bathroom to fill it with water. She'd gotten the fright of her life when Jack had suddenly fallen asleep on her, trying to stifle her panic by doing things.She comes out with a half full bucket, looking over at Hiccup as she came towards the bed. Blue eyes are filled with worry as she slides to her knees next to Toothless, taking the cloth and beginning to clean up Jack's face.]

Has he...is he going to be okay, Hiccup?

[ Spurred into action where he's been dithering at Jack's bedside, he puts on a bracing smile for Merida and wrings out his own cloth in the same bucket, tidying up as much of the open wound on Jack's leg as he can while it slowly heals; it's one of the nastier gores. ]

Of course he will, people say this happens all the time. We just need to keep him safe and clean, then he'll be fine.

[ Physically. ]

I think it couldn't hurt to get a second opinion from someone who might have more experience.

[ She does feel bad for him. They may have had a little tiff at Samhain with being in different courts, but he's obviously broken up about his friend, and she wishes she could help. ]

He might be able to. I think anything's possible here. And talking to him couldn't hurt either.

[ Nodding along (the second he finds a healer willing to help he'll latch onto them like a leech), his shoulders can't help but sag. ]

I don't know what I'm doing. My dad would, if he was here.

[ Wanting Stoick close by more keenly than before, Hiccup is half-ashamed at the thought of his father suddenly swooping in to take over. Half-relieved, too, in a perfect world where it could happen. ]

[She's helped take care of her brothers when they get fevers but this isn't like that, so she tries her best. Merida drapes the cloth across Jack's forehead, humming a little as she worked. The humming was for nobody else's benefit but hers, soft songs from her childhood. She turned her head to look at Hiccup as she pulled the cloth off to rinse it, trying to return the smile.]

I'm sorry. I didn't know what to do.

You're doing great. Have you eaten yet? I've got this, if you're peckish.

[ The kitchen's not far, after all. Toothless puffs his warm breath over Jack's toes, since pulling a sheet over his body seems like an awful idea when he could suffer more phantom-like abrasions at any moment. Hiccup gives his dragon a fond look which flickers to Merida. ]

We've got this, sorry.

[She giggles a little at Toothless' inclusion, the first laugh she's given since she got here with Jack's limp body on Angus' back. Merida shakes her head, wringing her cloth out in the bucket.]

I'm fine. I had an apple earlier.

An apple, wow. No wonder you cut such a hench figure around here.

[ Chuckling along, Hiccup rubs around Toothless's head. ]

Hey, bud, why don't you go get some fish? You must be hungry. [ As Toothless gurgles an uncertain reply, Hiccup shakes his head. ] I'll stay right here with Jack until you get back, I promise. Merida, too.

[ The dragon gives an agreeable slow blink, then cranes his head up to warble something at Jack on the bed in Dragonese before turning to leave. Hiccup watches him go until the tail-fin swishes out of sight. ]

[ Piper smiles faintly and nods. It's not because she thinks her dad would be the same way; quite the opposite, actually. He freaked out so much learning that gods and monsters were real that he accepted the memory erasing potion she offered him so he never had to know about it. ]

Maybe try to put yourself in his shoes? Ask yourself what he would do.

He'd fix it, just like that. [ Truly believing every word. ] He's amazing that way, Chief and all. He takes care of everybody.

[ Not knowing what else to do about Jack's bruises, Hiccup gently presses a warm towel to them and arranges a pillow to keep it close. ]

He used to tell me stories about Jack. About Jokul Frosti, anyway.

[She shakes her head, her brow furrowing.] Would that I could give you some greater comfort. I know of nothing to do beyond staying at his side.

You are not alone, I hope? When was it you last ate? [And if you think she's asking because she neglected eating when she was in his position? You'd be right. Don't be her, Hiccup. You are mortal and more squishy.]

Is that a crack about my weight? I eat plenty, thank you. Mum complains enough about my plates back home.

[She flicks water in Hiccup's general direction from her cloth, lips pursing together in a small pout as she looks at Toothless with an encouraging smile. When he leaves, she returns her attention to Jack, smoothing the cloth over his face.]

If this is one of those sleepin' spells we heard about, he's going to wake up eventually, right?

Yeah? How do the stories match up to the real guy?

I eat whenever I'm hungry, it's not often but ... I'm fine, and I have someone helping out. Merida is Jack's friend too.

[ He thinks he ate yesterday, since he definitely had water all of today. As if on cue, his stomach gurgles and he offers a wan, chagrined smile. ]

I'll get to that later. Right now I'd rather stay where I am — he wouldn't have left me, if our positions were reversed.

[ Hiccup cracks a wavering smile. ]

He's a lot nicer in person than he's made out to be. [ Here, after a pause, he tries to swallow the lump in his throat. ] When we, uh, first met in the library? He decided he was going to be my friend and I — I would have given anything to make him go away.

I'm an idiot.

Yeah, says the single-apple toting fireball.

[ Wiping off the water, the pillows are rearranged for the millionth time at Jack's sides to keep him encased in mild warmth on the bed. It probably won't help but it can't harm either. ]

So they say, and we have no reason to believe otherwise. One of the women I talked to — Galadriel? — she said her daughter suffered wounds from events in her future but she's all better now. The best explanation I can get for them is that they're ... echoes, or something like that, of whatever Jack's going through.

[ Which makes it all the more worse if he's trapped living his life alone, having all this inflicted on him where they can't follow. ]

Hey, no you're not. Sometimes it takes time for people to grow on us, or we're afraid of getting to close because of-- reasons.

[ Yeah, she can relate to this. ]

But whatever the reason, you're friends now, right? You wouldn't be watching over him and worrying if you didn't care.
