[Aubri speaks with an urgent clipped tone, though it's fairly obvious there's something distracting him: he looks to the side every now and again before his gaze flits back to the locket.]

Has anyone seen or heard from a woman named Ariadne? [There's a hint of desperation there; he's really like someone to answer him in the positive here.] She disappeared--

[And his distraction strikes again: Ariadne's bandersnatch cub is apparently doing something dumb off-screen.] Straton. [Aubri turns back to the locket.] She disappeared last night near the Station Ring. I fear--

--Straton, enough. [There's a bit of rustling off-screen and then Aubri hisses. Just before the broadcast ends, there's one more thing said -- and it's obviously not meant for the wider audience.] That is my tail. Thrice-blighted little--

[And the locket closes.]

Master Aubri?

[Celebrían answers, surprised at his tone. Ad to hear that Ariadne had gone missing.] Does her locket still connect? Do you need any help?

[If she goes anywhere, she knows at least that Maglor will be alright with Nerdanel and Galadriel nearby. His condition wouldn't have gone unnoticed by either of them.]

She does not answer. [He's obviously agitated -- quite upset, eyes narrowed.] She can travel in shadow. She stepped into one and never re-emerged. I do not--

--Straton, stop. [Oops, sorry, distracted?]

I have not seen her appear anywhere. [That's worrying. And Celebrían glances around, almost hoping she'll step out.]

Stranton? ['Who's that?' goes unasked.] Do you need help?

Her bandersnatch cub. I cannot leave him alone. [Though he might wish to, at this point.] I am trying to get to the Station. We are not far.

I could come out to meet you if you like. I imagine it will make it a bit easier on you.

[He considers this for a moment; he hates to ask, because there are creatures around but...

... but he could use a hand, if only to dump Straton off so he can search.]

We are making our way in to the Station from the Ring.

[She can at least do that and keep an eye out for Ariadne if se turns up while he's searching.]

I will be there shortly. [Thankfully, she and Maglor had done enough exploring before his heart incident that she knew where it was.]

Thank you. We are not far. [He wouldn't ask someone to come far from the Station in this situation.]

Do you know how to make the creatures retreat? There is a word that repels them.

[She grabs her sword, a precaution more than a thought that she might actually need it, and straps it around her waist.]

Ah, yes. My fairy told me of it. 'Lawkamercyme' I believe it is.

Yes. That. [He sounds unimpressed. It's hardly more than a collection of letters that Aubri has trouble pronouncing. Best defense ever when he can't actually wrap his beak around it.] Good luck. I will see you soon.

[Perhaps when she realizes his difficulty, she'll send a fairy along with him to help.]

Soon. [She nods in agreement and heads out, moving lightly but quickly towards the fairy ring.]

Good. [He begins to heard Straton toward the Station, doing his level best to keep the cub moving and stay out of the way of the shadows. He doesn't have it in him to to scoop Straton up and just fly away -- he's bordering on exhausted and Straton... Well. Straton isn't. Trying to hold onto him in the air would be a trick.]

[She's pretty quick and between Aubri and Straton, there's enough noise, that she can hear, to direct her towards them if she ends up off course.]

Master Aubri? [One pale hand remains on the pommel of her sword the entire time she walks. Celebrían isn't sure she'd have the heart to fight or kill anything but it was better to have it than not. And one never knew what they could do until the right situation came up.]

[Aubri is trying (and mostly failing) to corral Straton into at least walking somewhere near him. He's actually taken to lashing his tail intentionally to keep the bandersnatch cub's attention -- and his tail has paid the price for it, covered in scratches and bites.

So when Celebrian comes up on them, Straton is quite firmly attached to Aubri's tail.

Aubri doesn't exactly look happy.]

My lady. Are you well? Were you attacked?

[Celebrían tsk's softly at the sight of the bandernatch attached to Aubri's tail and tries to coax him to come over to her for Aubri's sake. To give him at least a little relief.]

I am alright, I had no trouble thus far.

[That's not to say they won't have some on the way back. But she hopes.]

[Aubri pulls his tail up and out of Staton's immediate reach when the cub goes to investigate this new person approaching them. It looks a little worse for wear.]

Good. Come, then. We need not be vulnerable for long.

[She winces faintly at the sight.] I have something back at the Station that may well help that.

[She smiles faintly at the cub though. Young and adventurous and full of energy, like any child in truth.] Of course, you are right.

Only scratches, my lady, and not worth worrying over. [He pauses, looking up at the darkening sky.] I will walk with you.

[As much as seeing the lay of the land in front of them might help, he will not leave her long -- and he's not actually sure that he'll be able to see the creatures from the air.]

I may worry regardless. Especially if they become infected. [But she nods, looking with him. That... does not look promising.]

Thank you, Master Aubri. I will feel much better with your company. [She really doesn't like this right now.]

They'll be fine. [He dismisses her concern almost immediately. He's had worse than a few scratches.

He settles in beside her, wings mantled and gaze alert.] The shadows are lengthening. I do not like that.

[Still gonna worry.

But she brushes that thought aside at his comment, looking around them. Her lips tighten to form a thin line and she reaches, drawing a dagger from her boot.] Nor do I.

[She takes a breath and quickly, to try to fend them off before they try attacking:] Lawkamercyme!

[Aubri hisses at the word, thoroughly annoyed by it. It's great to have some line of defense. It's even better if he could pronounce the damn thing.]

There. [He nods toward movement in the shadows, to their left.]

[She felt for him, not being able to say the word. At least he wasn't alone though or with someone else who couldn't pronounce it, it gave them both some way of defending themselves.

She really didn't want to throw her knife and risk losing it but she really didn't want to have to deal with it up close and give it a chance of reaching any of them. So again, she announces the name just as she throws the knife where Aubri nods.]
