[VIDEO] 9 April [SEELIE] A Call to Arms [OPEN]

[ The video is aimed largely past the speaker, to the twichting-writhing forms of three snake-like horned-creatures, the crackles of electricity still racing across their scales as they move. The locket is likely proper up on a rock or tree somewhere, as the speaker is turned to face the worms, his arms up and tattoos glowing electricity crackles from his hands. He is standing on land near a small river-stream near farmsteads. ]

Attention.

I am Kaldur’ahm, recently brought here with the rest of you. I was exploring the rivers and streams nearby and found that several had been blocked by these creatures, and that they were attacking the farms homesteads.

[ One of the worms seems to recover from the temporary paralysis, and lunges towards Kaldur, who leaps away and grasps two devices firmly in his hands. He jumps up again slams downwards on its tail with a water-formed spiked mace, inadvertently severing part of the tip from the worm. He bats the rest of the worm back further away and continues. ]

I am requesting assistance. Several of the civilians have been bitten, and are displaying signs of being in a critical condition due to the creature’s venom. I have been attempting to combat these worms for a few hours, and they grow more resistant to my electric paralyzation with each attempt I try.

[ The severed tail-end starts wriggling violently, and he forms a sledgehammer to knock it back several yards, closer to the still-paralyzed worms. ]

They are quick to regenerate from severed pieces, like echinoderms.

I need those who can help me combat these creatures and those who can help transport the injured to the castle, as well as individuals to help care for those injured by the worms.

mako snaps his fingers twice in rapid succession, to get the attention of the group that had, you know, actually listened to him when he called for a huddle, intent on at least getting a vague plan of action before they all tried to fight these giant gross ass worms. his tone is brisk and businesslike, gold eyes intense as he looks at those who agreed to meet. ]

Alright, listen up — I don't know who any of you are, or anything you can do, but before we do do this, we should have at least some sort of plan. I don't do well up close, but I can stun them lightningbending at first, and come in second with fire once other people have done damage.

What's everyone else got?

as he'd said during the huddle, mako keeps back when the worms approach, blue sparks arcing from his fingers in bolts of raw, coldblooded fire — lightning. it stuns them plenty, indicative in the way the worms reel, horned heads swaying as the light dies.

when they start to get close, he resorts to spinning kicks edged in bursts of fire, displaying an agility you wouldn't expect of a guy his height; backflips and frontflips, fireballs that have enough concussive force to at least halt an advancing worm's attack.

BACK UP WOULD BE GREAT, THOUGH, this is a lot of hard, physical work, and even though mako's fit, it's doing a number on his chi reserves, lightningbending continuously like that. ]

[A...huddle? Elincia is definitely looking very baffled about this huddling business but it does seem like it's merely a strategy meeting and that is familiar territory.

Still, being addressed so roughly is definitely somewhat strange]

I am adept with swords and I can heal. If anyone finds themselves injured or exhausted, they should come to me immediately.

[jaywalks]

[ mako nods as he listens, ]

Are you fast at it? I want you hanging back a bit more than the rest if you're our only healer, just in case.

[ BOSSY BOSSY BOSSY. ]

[She raises an eyebrow but smiles, perfectly serene, even if Mako is usually bossy (she'll have to grow used to it she imagines)]

I am fast and I can heal at a distance. We'll manage.

[jaywalks]

[ even though he has no idea who this girl is, and he'd made himself the team leader, he apprecaites her reaction — she doesn't get huffy, nor is she arrogant about her own competency, both good signs in his eyes. if she thinks she can handle combat and healing, he'll take it. ]

[ clarisse holds up her sword, and it has a distinct gleam in the light. it's definitely not a regular sword, by the looks of it. she looks entirely too proud of this. ]

You got your secret weapon right here. I've taken down things bigger than those puny worms. You stun 'em, and I'll do all the rest.

[ she seems pretty confident about this, too. ]

[ mako is unimpressed, though he does consider her shiny sword thoughtfully. ]

What about when they regrow?

[rues]

[ oh ho ho mako... just you wait. meanwhile, she regards him with a look that says "are you an idiot?" but she thinks everyone is an idiot, so it's nothing personal. ]

They won't. This is a magic sword.

[jaywalks]

I'll believe it when I see it. Try not to chop off too many parts, regardless, and don't get eaten.

[ next? sorry, he so bossy. ]

[rues]

You'll believe it.

[ she just has one more thing to say before she jumps into battle ok she ain't gonna take ur shit mako. she points the sword at his neck, but not close enough that it pricks his skin. ]

And you talk to me like that again, I'll chop off your parts.

[ not that she could because the sword doesn't work on mortals but... shh. that would ruin the threat. ]

Lets try to keep our swords directed at the worms for now, shall we?

[Elincia is only mildly alarmed. Lets not start the in-fighting so early, ok ok]

[ meanwhile, mako is cautiously leaning away from the sword pointed at his throat. ]

[ clarisse stares them both down, eyes narrowing before she decides neither of them worth her time. more important things to do, like slay worms. she doesn't lower her sword, but she regards elincia with a sneer. ]

How about you try not to get in my way. [ she glances back and forth between mako and elincia. ] Either of you.

[ and... then she's off. haha, yeah, way to be a team player, clarisse. but at least she's out of your hair... for now. ]

[ Kaldur has been alternating between the groups, taking some aside to have them escort wounded back to home base, as well as jumping in when another combatant would be helpful. As Kaldur moves to assist, he notices that any wounds that have been cauterized by Mako's fire are not healing, or at least are healing much slower than the typical regenerative abilities they had previously been incapable of combatting.

He adds his own electricity to the fray, and forms a mace to punt the paralyzed worms farther back, as he gets close enough to Mako to avoid shouting across the fray of battle. ]

Mako, I believe your fire is having the strongest effect on the worms when applied to their wounds. Let us see if we can use it to combat the worms regenerative abilities.

I can cut through their tough hides, if you can direct fire to the wounds immediately after. A quick response will be key.

[jaywalks]

[ by this point, mako's getting a bit tired from the effort of constantly lightningbending and avoiding getting eaten; he's sweaty, and as kaldur finally steps in, he takes the second to catch his breath better, adjust his stance.

later, he'll have questions about how kal can do the water weapons AND the lightning, but... like i said. later.

there's more important things to do rn. ]

No problem — I'll follow your lead.

[ he readies a fistful of fire, to make the mental transition from lightning to flame, and nods to kaldur, indicating that, yeah, he's good to go. he took the alpha team leadership out of necessity, but he certainly didn't mind following someone else's lead, especially if the guy's as logical as this one. ]

[ Kaldur nods back, before springing forward again towards the nearest worm. He forces it near and laces his electricity down the length of twin-swords formed of the water with his water-bearers, stabbing them down into the scale and splitting a deep wedge into the creature's long sinuous body while stunning it briefly. He spreads the wound wide a moment before dodging out of the way of the fire.

There is enough moisture in the air, and enough coolness of the atmosphere that he does not truly worry much for dehydration, but Kaldur is still very conscious of the fire and his weaknesses for the heat.

Now.

[ If this wound seals up and does not heal, he will attempt a complete severing of the two parts, but at this point Kaldur does not want to risk creating yet another monster without near-complete certainty. ]

[jaywalks]

[ mako darts in right on kaldur's shadow; finally given a proper focal point for his fire, the flame he creates shifts from the blazing fireballs of before to a thin, intense stream of fire from his jab, palm flat and fingers extended. it's hot enough to sear the flesh almost immediately, filling the air with the ( somehow... appealing?) smell of cooked worm.

he'll leave the assessment of their success to kal, though, shifting his attention back to the dangerous end of the worm already, anticipating a bite — they're way too close to it for mako's comfort. ]

[ Kaldur is less concerned with a bite, his skin is dense and hard to break, and he suspects that his immunity to poisons from water-based creatures will help. Still, it does not hurt to be cautious, so he forms a small shield to defend away the jaws of the worm should they come close as he inspects the wound.

It has sealed perfectly, and though he prods at the scarring burnt tissue carefully, it does not seem to be healing.

He leaps back and brings his mace down on the creatures head as it darts forward to strike at him, keeping himself from being bitten for now. ]

Mako, if I finish severing this portion of the tail, can you burn it quickly enough to prevent regeneration from the tail?

I warn that this will create another creature should we fail, and may even do so if we succeed. HOwever, if what has happened so far holds true, we may be able to finally kill the creature entirely.

[jaywalks]

[ this guy's pseudo-waterbending is incredible -- he's not using ice or anything that mako recognises as a waterbending form, and yet, they're solid walls!!?? dang, dude.

but he nods again, taking a deep breath to stoke up his inner fires in preparation for the blasts he's going to need. ]

I'll need more solid footing than this, but it's doable.

[waterbearer]

[ Kaldur's hands are firm about his waterbearers, and he draws water from the nearby stream, enough to be prepared for anything. His focus is intense, and serious. ]

Tell me what you need.

[jaywalks]

Can we lure it back to the dryer spot over there? [ he jerks his thumb over his shoulder to indicate the spot he means. ]

[waterbearer]

[ Kaldur does one better, and hoists the neck nearest the head of the partially-stunned worm unto his shoulder, and while maintaining a steady stream of electricity to keep it stunned, and drags it to the spot Mako indicates. Once he drops the worm, he calls the water of the area to him using his water-bearers, and directs it back towards the stream or into his pack, and using the last of it to form his swords again. ]

Are you prepared?

[jaywalks]

[ ... wow, dude. that's... impressive. he knows he coudln't maintain a lightning output that consistently while moving, and he certainly can't haul a worm that big around all by himself.

but it's enough, and he follows again, settling into a stance that cants him at an angle from the worm, one fist raised in front of him, the other close to his chest, ready to try and burn as much as he can at once, minimize their chance of failure.

he nods. ]

[waterbearer]

[ At Mako's nod, Kaldur swings down with twin swords, slashing through the scarred tissue to sever the worm in two halves, quickly moving out of the way to allow Mako freedom of movement and firing without needing to worry about . ]

Now.

[jaywalks]

[ unlike before, this fire comes in a blast with mako's punch, lighting up their area of the battlefield with a violent, orange light, radiating heat and filling the air with the smell of roasted worm — it might be overkill now, but even though their hypothesis worked earlier, it's still safer to make sure they don't actually end up with two living, angry worms instead of one dead one.

he's being cautious, i swear. with excess. ]
