( there is a level of quiet calculation to the way lydia addresses the locketed network. she wears not nearly as much makeup. her hair isn't kept in ringlets or curls, nothing fancy, but a simple bun. she seems... slightly detached, from everything, though she's not necessarily detached in an unpleasant way. she's just.. well. she's older. and she holds herself high and with a much more adult strength than previously. )

I slept again. I dreamed of home. Or maybe I lived it, while my body was trapped here. Either way. ( her lips form a thin line, something like a smile but not quite. and there is a certain measure of manipulation glinting just behind her eyes. )

For those of you who know Peter Hale, you should be made aware that anything he tells you about his strength of character is very likely a lie. He is a murderer, and he's the absolute best at the manipulation game. He doesn't care about anyone but himself, and it's very likely that he's using anyone he's pretended to befriend for personal gain. Just when you think you might be able to trust you again, he'll probably try to kill your best friends.

( you may popcorn her slapdowns of peter hale as often as you like, bolin the adorable. lydia smiles at the friendly face, however. she isn't bothered by how this has gone down, nor is she terribly traumatized. she's actually pretty well adjusted, this time around. but the drabwurld needs to know that peter hale is a monster. )

The people here deserve to know what they're dealing with. ( STILL. ) I'm fine. I'm not happy that Peter's free to roam here at the level of power he's got, but... Fine. Things have actually been pretty decent at home, since he's been taken out of the running. Sadly, that didn't translate here.

Yeah, I can see how him being around would throw a little wrench in the works. Lemme know if he starts making any serious trouble for you around here, though. I'll have your back! Oh, you should totally do that! You know, it's almost never a bad time for someone to have a birthday party. I mean, as long as the party doesn't include everyone going out to dig up... dead warriors.

( she snorts, rolls her eyes and shakes her head a little, because the irony is just too much. she's totally had a birthday party where she gave everyone wolfsbane poisoning and made them hallucinate so she could go dig up and resurrect a dead guy. welp. )

Trying's pretty much the best thing anyone around here can do, right? Ooh, but, big questions! Would I be invited, and what kind of gifts do you like if I am? [ A lover of every positive thing to think about. Birthdays are great. ]

First of all, of course you'd be invited. I'd put you right at the top of the VIP section. Second of all? Anything sparkly, but surprise me. I mean - you don't have to get me anything. But if you did, I'd want it to be something that made you think of me. ( like a weird earth animal... )

You kidding? Getting people stuff is the best part of them having a birthday. Hands-down. [ Mostly because. Now he has money to get people gifts and more technical bending skill to make earth animals. It's a big help. ] I'll figure out something great!

Oh, thanks! I've been known to try. [ Doesn't always work out, and he may occasionally end up having affable conversation with anarchist terrorists, but you know. ] It doesn't seem like we get a ton of stuff to celebrate anyway. Well. I mean, there was Samhain, but that was kind of, uh. Intense. And a little violent. Hard to contain a worldwide party situation.

It was half-party, half-monsters anyway. If I have a birthday gig, it will be my explicit goal to avoid anything that isn't party related.

Good strategy. Some people might say "hey, don't worry about playing it too safe if it's a party," but in times like these, I think it pays off more to consider that stuff ahead of time. And I've never been a big strategy guy.

Guess it's just a lesson hard-learned. Sometimes a lot of work's gotta go into having fun before you even really start having fun! It's like a whole planning category!
