Good day, everyone.

It seems Reynard The Fox is a Hot Topic of the week, and I know that he is being discussed in greater depth elsewhere, thank goodness. [Seriously, this stuff is very nice to know.] That said, I may have a bit of new information for those who weren't aware.

He was behind the destruction of the Drabkeeper's Castle. By himself, it seems. I don't know why, but if you've seen what's happened to it, you know that that's no joke. It's been completely levelled.

[So, that might give a greater appreciation of what he might be capable of to those that didn't know, before.

There's more to it than that, but she doesn't know how much of a target she's made herself out to be and doesn't want to implicate or involve anyone else. Still, someone should know all of it.]

Secondly, I would caution anyone with any kind of Sight [there is a careful emphasis of the word that she's certain won't be missed by those who know what to look for.] in taking extra precautions in using it, if you have both the means to and the control.

But he is capable, mostly because he's clever with the firepower to back himself up.

I'm not sure I know all the tenets of Unseelie without a biased filter, but it seems more open to change and personal freedom. Seelie doctrine can be a lot more rigid in some instances, so I'm not sure I want to know how good he is if he managed to be taken in.

[Flora settles back into her chair.]

Okay, so the castle is quite unfortunately out. And I'm sure there other unbiased sources, but the best ones might be hard to find, and I'm still worried about his daughter. None of the other shardbearers I've talked to that is much more in the know than me even knew she existed, much less anything about her. It might fall to asking people. I don't like unknown variables in cases like these, especially when they're sadistic.

A smart man will always make his skills useful to both sides, even if his morals are questionable to one or the other. In Reynard's case, there were Seelie shardbearers sent to him who were learning to use their own power under him. Things like that are likely why he was able to operate for as long as he did.

[It's the best guess, at any rate.]

You're the first to even tell me he had a daughter, so I think that's something to keep in mind. Getting word out about her is going to be a wise idea. I don't like that this matter is becoming so public, but their level of threat needs to be a known thing. Someone's already done it with regards to Reynard. The more people to share information with too, the better.

[A few things fire off in her mind at once.] That was him? He developed that technique? [Lancelot went to learn from Reynard? Blow her mind, why don't you.] That makes sense. It's an immensely useful skill.

[And if Reynard's the master...great.]

Yeah, you're right, absolutely. She just...gives me a very bad feeling. I wonder if people didn't know about her because there was a concerted effort or if because we just haven't been here long enough. [She pauses for a moment, then sighs wearily.] I'd ask the sylphs, since they're old enough to know something, maybe, but they've got something on their mind, right now.

Mmm. Like I said, he made himself useful, and thus indefensible even if he was without his own shard.

No, I don't think I said that explicitly--but yeah, there's one missing. Her sisters are worried sick, and sylphs tend not to worry themselves about much. [So that was really saying something.] I promised that I'd do my best to help find her. You know something about it?

You don't think it could be the Younger Fox's mum who's missing--

Wait, a second--what? Her mother? She's a sylph? Or part sylph?

[SIR, PLEASE EXPLAIN.]

Morla mentioned to me some time ago that Reynard had issues with the Sisterhood. You mentioned a missing sylph [that Waver knows Reynard had captured, yay blackmailing Waver into helping with that]. Biologically, you need two people to make a baby, right?

Working theory, but--

[The sylphs have no idea what happened to her, and so Flora doesn't, but she makes an effort to puzzle through what he's telling her.]

Okay, so you think they must have had a really bad break up or falling out? Do you think he really had a hand in her being missing?

I know he had a hand in it, but I can't exactly go into detail. Magic bullshit constraints.

[He prays that she can read between that particular line.]

Falling out, or something. Hell if I can guess what.

Oh. [A hand flies to her mouth.] I'm so sorry, my lord. Can you say if it was a geas, a Deal, or some kind of spell?

[She's not holding out, though. Her voice is gentle.]

Well out of his custody and with an ally. The er, [for lack of better word] carrying case has to be broken, and that's not proving easy.

Oh, dear. [There was not skirting those from what she's read, and they were nasty pieces of work. She knows he literally can't say anything, but she's going to do her best not to pry, anyway.] Understood. Those're pretty heavy duty.

[Flora breathes a tremendous sigh of relief.] At least she's alive. There's some hope, there. Um, does Reynard know you have it?

It seemed like it was worth the risk at the time. Now, mm. I don't know.

[Thank God for Berserker is all that Waver can say.]

I've not asked my friend how they got it, or where it is presently. For very, very obvious reasons.

I'm sure you did the best you could with what you had at the time, my lord, it must have been like being caught between a rock and a hard place.

[That must have been an incredibly tight or desperate situation if he made a Deal, though.

Flora rubs the back of her head.]

Yeah, that makes sense. [Her voice softens.] Do you think you could speak to this friend for me, please? I'd really like to meet them, if at all possible, entirely on their terms, too, I just want to get Sose home as soon as possible.

[She made a promise, and she has a little sister, herself. She could only imagine what she'd do if Miele went missing.]

In retrospect, he did seem too willing to do the whole thing. Ah well, at the time I needed him to shut his mouth.

[Morla thinking him a traitor was not a good call at the time - even if it's arguably true now.]

I can definitely pass messages along, although I don't know how good idea it is to share identities yet. The fewer people who know who has Sose, the better.

He can disguise himself, give me a fake name, speak entirely in anonymous notes--whatever you both think is best. You're the only one that knows that I was looking for her, anyway. What have you tried with her prison?

Disguise is something that they're good at. I'll speak to him.

The general gist is that we've got to break it with fire, with magehounds, or with sacrifice. Which of if the three, we don't know, and we're trying to find what might be the right option.

Just "sacrifice" there were no specifics given? Because that could be executed in a lot of different ways. And you can't work your way down the list?

Absolutely none given, and having that broad a category makes me very uneasy.

Right? It could be ritualistic sacrifice, but there are infinite ways to do that. Perhaps someone switching places with her, or some other sort of sort of self-sacrifice...don't you love it when magic is cryptic?

Fire and magehounds, though. That might be easier. Or if not strictly easier, just a little narrower in the possibilities. Or I'm hoping so. I can't say I know what a magehound is yet, though.

The only other way is to ask Reynard himself, and that's all but impossible - even if it'd make our life easier.

Magehounds sniff out magic sources, apparently, but the problem there is just getting them.

How did you find out about it in the first place? If it's not magic that's known only to him, maybe there's someone else who can offer even greater insight.

[Like specifics.] As for the magehounds, how do you mean? Are they rare, or is it a temperament thing? If it helps, I can commune with animals.

Some time ago for a boon, Morla gave me an answer scroll. It's a bit like fighting with my iPhone's SIRI.

But apparently it's a rarity thing. My associate's been working on finding them, but no luck so far.
