[A scream begins this video, but all that follows is the sound of covers being shifted and someone walking, unsteadily, closer to the locket. Vanyel's face comes into view, his features washed out against his black hair.]

I must have... [His voice is hoarse, nearly cracking.] I am Gifted with Foresight. It has been...unreliable...since my arrival. Yet...

I fear what I see when I close my eyes. I fear what the fairies and imps say to us.

What becomes of this world may not matter, but what of our worlds?

[A shiver skates down his back and he clenches his teeth.]

Their magic could be interfering with my own. I pray that is the case. Otherwise...

[He glances over his shoulder before closing his eyes, pained.]

We deserve to see the future.

I must have been exceptionally impressed with your abilities.

And relieved.

I suppose you must have been. I was too concerned with your turning me down that night to notice.

You thought I would take advantage of a youngster? [He frowns faintly and sits up.] It's sad that you're not the first one to think that.

In the first place I'm old enough to know that I wanted you. In the second, I'm fairly certain you were playing for sainthood then. But I had some rather privileged information from Medren and I was sure I could get you to say yes. Still, I suppose I must commend you. Even falling down drunk, you still managed to convince yourself sleeping on the floor was better.

[He would be cursing the gods for the shiver he feels when Stefen talks about wanting him - except he has already accepted that he needs the Bard. Wants the Bard. No...

Loves. Yes. And it's terrifying.]

I won't take advantage of an innocent. Sex means nothing to me if it isn't based on equality.

...except for the aches I would gladly endure, I'm sure.

No doubt. {He leans in, almost going for a kiss.} But would you have? Would you have stayed?

The bond wasn't formed overnight.

[That makes him actually stop for a moment and think.]

Then, I...don't think I knew if I would have. But... yes. I think... I think I would have stayed. And doubtless enjoyed every moment.

Until the hangover set in, hm? [Why had he chosen to drink so much with a young Bard?] Then again I could have remedied that for you.

You didn't seem all too interested in that. You were gone before I woke up.

[He glances at him, reaching for his hand under the blankets.]

When I'm uncomfortable, I tend to avoid...certain situations.

Noted and noticed. I managed to corner you eventually, though.

So I was pursued. [Another damnable shudder.] You are special. I imagine you never knew the full reason why I was so hesitant around you.

[He watches him, eyes half-lidded.]

Medren tried to pay for music lessons with his body. He was told by Withen no doubt of my...proclivities...and he thought he had nothing else to offer me. I, of course, refused him and made arrangements for him to go to Haven the first time I heard him play.

Relentlessly.

[But he goes quiet when Vanyel continues. It's too close to a dozen stories he knew that all could have been him.]

I'm glad, then, that it was you he came to.

Thank you for that. [He smiles faintly, but it doesn't last long.] As am I. Even so, I won't lie. The entire ordeal made me very angry with Withen.

For him to think that I would - Herald or not - harm a child...

He seems to have changed, at least.

He better. [His tone is dark until he moves to rest his head against Stefen's chest.] Not that it matters. I resigned myself to being an anomaly to him long ago.
