For those that are unaware of me, my name is Renly Baratheon. Times have been trying of late, I believe, and we have all been suffering ills that there are few words best to describe. It is for this that I would desire to offer myself as a helping hand or soothing ear for all that desire it or have found themselves lost or without an ally to aid in soothing their turmoiled emotions. You may find me through this network or in my rooms in the castle; the marking of a stag is upon my door and you will be greeted by my fawn, Laurel. I doubt it will be hard to miss.

My dear friends and kin; I would hope that I could meet you all sometime in the near future, once your own missions and duties are attended to. I have brought gifts for you all that I would like to pass on as soon as matters are in hand. I would also wish to hear more of the fate of Ned Stark. You have my thanks.

[Bluntly.There had been the sword he promised, but Gendry had delayed that for his apprenticeship to be finished. The sword he had begun work on was scrapped in favor of making something that could never be made in Westeros.]

I hope she at least had the sense to point you towards something useful like.

[He can only imagine Renly gifting something useless to Gendry like really nice clothes or soap or a book on manners.]

Even if she hadn't I know you, nephew. I would not buy you a golden broach or a well-fitting shirt.

[bullhorned]

I'm glad to hear it. I'd have no use for those. [He'd melt the gold down for something useful!]

You're a little more worldly in your wants, I'm sure of that.

[ He bites back his laugh. ]

Perhaps I should have bought you flowers.

I think those would be more to your liking. Roses especially.

[Sansa had suggested Gendry work roses into the sword he would make for Renly. Those would honor Margaery, of course, but Gendry hadn't been certain they were appropriate. This seemed as good as any opportunity to find out.]

[ Renly tenses, lips pursed, before he realises - his wife is a rose, too, of course. He shifts and leans back, offering a soft smile. ]

Of course, though none would compare to the true life rose I am wedded to.

[bullhorned]

Though you don't fancy her giving you sons.

[Yes, this again. He still found that dubious, since there was no reason to start a new life here. Already Gendry had heard about descendants of shardbearers that populated this world.]

No. It seems... Unimportant, given the lift we have here. I think Margaery has earned a life without pregnancy unless she truly desires it.

[ Can. We. Just. Not, please. ]

Isn't that all women want? Weddings and babies.

[impeaches]

Not all women, Gendry, I'm sure.

But most women. Or some, at least. Mayhaps I'll ask your queen.

[You know, as a nephew eager to be part of the family. For Renly's sake!]

Perhaps. I am not certain she would tell you more than she would tell me, however.

[ A sour look. Ugh, Gendry. Why. ]

I saved her from a shadow beast. Monstrous thing, it was. Must have been about shin high.

[In truth, he only does this because it irritates his otherwise easygoing uncle. Given that Renly could annoy Gendry just by talking to him, it seemed only fair to give what he got.]

Then perhaps she will find you most companionable after all. I daresay she would not offer you more than she has given me, all the same.

[bullhorned]

I'm not looking to be offered anything! [If only because he was suddenly wondering if there was some other implication less obvious.]

I meant truth, or word, nephew, naught else. What could you imagine my wife might give you?
