[Lancelot, standing on the edge of a riverbed, had traveled north after the battle for the Silmaril by himself. Realizing that it would have constituted a sort of abandonment of his post, he decided to let Ganondorf know what he was doing.]

Members of the Unseelie and Seelie courts. I have a warning for you. I, the Knight of the Lake, have been recruited to aid the Dryads of La Llorona in the defense of Fairy-held safe havens throughout the realm. As such, I will eliminate any enemy to them I come across. If you have information on those who threaten such realms, send messages to me. I will end such offenders.

[Lancelot added a second message to Ganondorf, specifically.]

[PRIVATE/TEXT/TO: GANONDORF]

My lord. My true upbringing stems from the support of the fey. In this, I'm indebted to them to protect their lands and their well-being.

In this, I will be working to restore one of their Glens, so it may flourish in the wake of battles that had sundered it. Despite this, I will always be available for your sake. Please, do not hesitate to call upon my aid if necessary. My response will be ever swift.

Very well. I will grant you the use of a dozen men. For now, we cannot spare more until our forces have been bolstered again. [An unfortunate effect of the failed attack.] For now, I have promised my company to Lady Grell for another quest. But should I hear news along the way, you will be the first to know.

There will be no need to send them to me, my lord. I'm afraid that I would outrun them in my impatience.

Though, I may still make use of them while they're in your camp. As I've found, the pursuit of the White Hart may be incredibly difficult. If you were to keep a number of men in charge of detailing information I obtained, that would be more to our benefit.

If that is what you require, so be it. Use them in any way you see fit.

On that front, I suppose I now have a use for my other ability. Though it's not perfect, my lord, I can make use of my other Noble Phantasm, now. 'For Someone Else's Glory'.

I cannot use the ability a certain time before or after I activate my true sword, but now I can.

For the sake of obtaining information about the White Hart, I'll be using it to listen to information from hunters in the city by obscuring my appearance as someone else's.

I'm not certain I understand. What is this Noble Phantasm? For whom's glory?

In my youth, I often times participated in horse races, archery contests, jousting tournaments and duels so that I could test myself and constantly improve my abilities.

However, I knew that I had no interest in simply gaining fame through my exploits. It was only a measure of self improvement, so I desired a way to do so without risk becoming enamored with my own abilities.

So, I was blessed with a spell that could conceal my identity and change my appearance to resemble someone else's.

[To explain this further, Lancelot's image shimmered. He suddenly took on Ganondorf's image not only in stature, but down to every last detail including clothing. When he opened his mouth, it was Ganondorf's own voice.]

'For someone else's glory' was my tool to avoid the hubris of the victor.

[A man so utterly devoid of pride, now in the form of a man who was pride incarnate. It was an irony that these two should work as one.]

I see. A most useful spell. I must admit, I spent little time ever mastering illusion magic. If not pride, what is it that compelled you to improve yourself so greatly?

[Still, in Ganondorf's voice, Lancelot replied with the utmost of sadness--]

It was devotion, once. To the King I loved.

What became of this King?

[And if they returned, what would become of your loyalty?]

A mistake of mine lead to his downfall. Had I been allowed to fight on his behalf once more, we could have won.

...But, I had lost the kingdom's trust.

Were you a traitor?

[There is an icy tone as Ganondorf begins to sense a parallel to his own rule. He has not yet forgotten how his second in command had betrayed his trust. He has not forgotten that Nabooru of the Gerudo was not at his side to fight off all the armies of Hyrule when he needed her most.]

I was not. I rebelled by trying to save the Queen, but I wanted to be on the side of my king. In the end-- [The disguise faded, Lancelot's eyes sunken and tired by his sadness. The usual pallid look of his face had grown worse.]

I made a mistake out of my own loyalty as guard to the Queen and I desired a selfish ending in which I would be punished by my King for that crime.

Beyond my death, I sought out punishment. By miracle alone--I cornered my King on a battlefield beyond our deaths and he slew me, fulfilling my knightly vow. As such I must call myself loyal. Regardless of my treason, all I wanted was to suffer that punishment so he would avoid being eternally dishonored by my mistake.

[A selfish ending with a queen... He can fill in the blanks, well enough.]

If you have already gained the ending you desire, why then do you seek another?

Because, I still live. Death should be permanent, should it not?

As such, so long as I breathe, I must pursue my death, my lord.

You have bee given new life with new cause. To throw it away might be a graver offense than the one you now seek redemption for.

Redemption? No, I cannot say it is that. I've already obtained such a thing.

[He's just rejecting it is all.]

A knight shamed must die in battle to regain their honor; however, I am no honorable creature anymore. I must be slain by someone worthy, who would surpass me.

I am not throwing away anything. Until my last breath, I will be a scourge on the battlefield. All knights may conduct themselves this way, but only a true beast may do so with peace of mind.

Then I can only hope that you find the end you are searching for, but that it will not be too soon.

[And prepare for the day that Lancelot realizes Ganondorf may be the very foe he's looking for...]
