Honour & Duty - Voice - Backdated July 26
Hail, folk of the shard. I am Lord Eddard Stark of Winterfell, a member of the company of Lancelot du Lac.
I mean to raise the alarm against an enemy of the Seelie in Caer Glaem, as Reynard the Fox, the Lord of Maupertius, has turned against us, and but a day ago sought to kill the members of this company. Avoid his lands and his banners, a red fox upon a black field! The Lord himself is deathless they say, and despite small stature possessed of great and terrible strength.
But also I call out to you now for another reason. We were given aide by another, Lord El-Melloi II, who may have been slain by the selfsame lord. I beg the help of any, whatever their banner, who might safely determine this for true: if finding it so, to inform this company, that I may parley for his body. If he lives still and is held prisoner, we will parley instead for his ransom.
Go with care.

with a shiver in her voice, she leans over and grips the locket with a fierce fear. ] Have you been hurt?
[ arya. jon. gendry. the rest of them -- she would know whether this fox has nipped them too seriously. and then, with her family and its allies accounted for, she will let her heart turn to waver: her confidant and informant. ]
private voice
Wounded, aye. An ear gone, some other small hurts besides. Your sister's unharmed, though Jon and Ghost were both blooded, and Gendry bore a deep cut to his side. Lancelot has ridden ahead with haste, being among the least injured, to bear the warning himself to the Queen.

her voice is weak and little when she asks -- childishly, because in this she is still like a child. fearful for her father's wellbeing: ] But you will be fine, yes? You will heal. [ a piece of a head lost is better than to lose the whole head again.
her stomach twists. ]
Re: private voice
But the others, Sansa, might benefit as much from hearing your voice as I. It is a balm, truly.
private voice
If what you suggest is true, Father -- I may never again speak with Lord El-Melloi.
[ that figuration of his name is odd on her tongue; she never uses it with waver himself. ]
Re: private voice
[ The world never seems to stay solid, reliable, and predictable underfoot. His shock and surprise are both well-evident and genuine. ]
private voice
I am most fervent in my hope that he isn't -- [ dead. ]
Re: private voice
He has been good to you, as well. [ The breath trickles out of him. ]
Keep hope, Sansa.
private voice
I need him...[ she already grieves, but she is also still a young woman. still selfish. still eager to protect herself above all else. and she does not like to think of how uncertain the world will be without waver there to tell her of caer scima's workings. ]
Re: private voice
At what price, comes all this from him? And he tells you truly?
private voice
[ and if he has survived! well, sansa fears such an announcement as this might out the lord for his sympathies. ] I cannot promise that I trust him. [ she trusts so few. ] But he deals fairly. Fairer than most.
Re: private voice
[ Important to note. And then, slowly, the realization dawning upon him, her father muttered a low oath. ]
Ah! In haste, I thought...! [ Quickly, he adds, ] Ah, I'm a fool to name him so!
How best to salvage it for him, Sansa?
private voice
sansa sets her mouth into a line. she wraps her thoughts around the matter. she thinks on baelish's lessons. ] Even the Unseelie cannot fault one of their own for aiding a child. Lean on Arya's presence, Father. Stress it, if you must.
Re: private voice
Already done, to the one Unseelie who inquired after him. It seemed to turn the inquiry neatly enough.
private voice
If you must talk with him, talk in private. As you and I do. As he and I do.

Lord El-Melloi's allegiance lies with the Unseelie. Why should this Lord Reynard slay one of his own, if indeed his allegiance has shifted?
no subject
The truth, I know not. Only that he is clever and treacherous.

Regardless, I will do what I can to ensure Lord El-Melloi's safety. No doubt he had good reason for his actions.

My thanks, ser, for your kindness.

A noble sentiment, Lord Stark. But I am no sir. [Indeed, he gives the title just a small amount of scorn. Knights are a Hylian tradition.] I am Ganondorf, King of Hyrule and here, Lord of Castle Mair.

[Voice]
Is the Lord El-Melloi human?
[Very important question, since he can't help with this if the guy turns out to be a satyr or nymph or some other nature spirit.]
Re: [Voice]
[Voice]
There's two options I can use to help you with this because I don't personally know him. One is that I can talk to the ghosts wandering around and see if they've sensed anything. The other is that there's a ritual I can perform to summon his spirit if he's actually dead. I can do both without a problem, though.
Re: [Voice]
If... you may speak to ghosts and they might quickly discover what befell him, that would be best. If it accomplishes the same, in the end, without overextending the use of your time or... power.
[ Still not sure how this magic thing works, but he imagines it's a limited resource. ]
[Voice]
They use little to no energy from myself, and, honestly, I've got plenty of time to spare.
[At least, he does until the battle between Clarisse and Celegorm begins.]
May I ask for a description of him?
Re: [Voice]
[Voice]
[It's the least he could do for Eddard, since he's been surprisingly cool about his heritage and found a type of horse that actually doesn't hate him at first sight. Nico hesitates.]
...How are you holding up, sir?
Re: [Voice]
And yourself, lad? Have you been keeping with your practice?
[Voice]
I was, until I left Caer Glaem. I can see why my sister loves horses as much as she does, to be honest. I couldn't...bring the horse with me, though.
[Bad enough he had to take a dog nearing the size of a tank.]

The world suffers a lack of men of such calibre. Thank you.

Well, I suppose we can consider ourselves well met now, through connections and shared experience.
Honestly, don't mention it. Everything was insane, and it was impossible to tell where the threat was directed. I just had useful means that no one knew about.
--Actually, if you would kindly keep the nature of my large, silvery friend to yourself, and ask the others in your party to do the same, I would be deeply appreciative. What I was able to do was only possible because of that ignorance.
[No, really. Waver's ability to get things done almost always relies on being overlooked and underestimated.]

He's alive, though I think he may have been blackmailed by Reynard; he can't give me any details. But be careful -- other Unseelie might try to kill him for helping you.
[ A pause, then, with some realization- ] You're the lord that Meera spoke of.
private/voice
Have you heard from Lord El-Melloi yet?
audio/private
Is the company alright, my Lord? And what of Lord El-Melloi?
