(perhaps foolishly) she believes she may be somewhat protected from joffrey's attention. she would avoid an address altogether, but she feels there are those in the opposing court who ought to be quietly warned against the evil presence in their midst. trouble is, she doesn't know their names. and so here is a quiet attempt to draw out some of those people she'd spoken with at the very outset of using these lockets. ]

These lands are impressive. I have spent the larger part of two turns of this moon travelling them. Their roads are hard, perhaps, but I find myself oddly...pleased that I made any progress at all. [ there is a quiet (and honest) reverence in her voice. improvement and daring is not a thing she expects of herself, and so the mere understanding that she can now build a fire or ride a horse for days? it kindles something in her heart. a spark of pride. ] Seelie. Unseelie. Both territories boast beautiful landscapes -- I should like to see them painted, perhaps. Are there any artists in either court? Painters? Sculptors? [ ... ] Have we any musicians? These kingdoms must have their own songs. I would fain learn them.

From what played at the first feast, I imagine fairy music must always be a delight.

[ a protracted conversations, perhaps. but she hopes to catch the ear of wary allies and would-be friends. and as for her public behaviour? ah, well. she will be alayne stone a little longer. she is not ready to reclaim herself in one headlong rush. small steps and little leaps must be made. ]

(ooc: this post comes on the evening of june 27th. if your character is in caer glaem and is more apt to find here somewhere around the castle, go ahead and hit me with an action thread instead. i'm good with it. )

"Can I choose which blessings?"

I -- [ oh! it's the pirate. the one with the stories. she hums a moment, and wrestles with a faith she no longer feels, before giving an answer worthy of alayne stone: ] All seven come as one, Captain. Why choose only a portion of the whole?

Their music is a fine thing, so it is. As nice as the sort of songs in my own Ireland. Do you play an instrument, miss?

[ ireland. sigrid had mentioned that kingdom -- had talked about a soldier from those lands. but there could be just as many from this ireland as there was from westeros. and so he cannot be trusted on one mere assumption alone. ]

No. [ this lie is painful. she wants to confess to her love of the high harp, and how she can play it rather prettily when she has one. ] I was raised with hymns all around me, and so we sang often enough -- [ because song is fitting for an upbringing amongst the faith. ] But we had no other means to express our songs.

Do you play? [ there is a hesitant pause after the question -- as if she searches for a title to give him, and comes up lacking. ]

Glad to hear you've made it back.

[ it's come to the point where she smiles (privately and only smallishly) when she hears his voice. not a smile of trust. nor one of safety, really. but one filled with anticipation, for she likes the way waver speaks to her. ]

Not half as glad as I am, my lord. I have never known such a warm welcome as the one I received in Caer Glaem. [ ... ] I trust I find you well?

The world around you is even more beautiful if you get to see it for yourself. Maybe you'll get a chance to travel and see more.

I pray it will be a long time before I travel again. [ a mild pause. ] The lands may be pretty, but the weeks I've spent on its roads were more than enough for me at the moment.

Yeah. It's still weird to think it can take so long to travel between places here. Hopefully you don't plan to stay in one place forever now, I think there's still a lot out there to see.

[ the honest response is simple: she will stay where her father stays. where her sister stays. where her brother stays. but alayne stone cannot say it-- ]

I like the castle. [ she is careful not to say which one. ] Surely, there is nothing wrong with staying here a while.

I guess the castles are nice. [ Uncertainly. He's never really been in one. Seen one, sure, briefly as they were running from the reporter. But he'd never been interested in them and they were different from the buildings he was used to. ] Mm, I didn't say there was. But it'd be a waste to see the world only from paintings, wouldn't it?

I assure you -- I've seen a fair share with my own eyes.

[ or a fair enough share. nearly two months on the drabwurld's roads was quite a lot of time. ] Now is the time for rest and paintings. I hope.

[ But with High-Queen Morla's gift, with her words, she may as well be the real deal. ]

[ an architect. sansa knows the word, but only at a distance. after all, so many of westeros's great buildings had stone so old that their architects could not be recalled. or else, they were legend -- bran the builder. ]

Hm. [ a light hum as she considers her response. ] What is it you do as a student of...architects? [ she fumbles her way to a noun. ]

Architecture, [ she corrects, though not unkindly; there's a smile in her voice, fondness seeping over. She loves her craft, after all. ]

I learn about the different designs and techniques that have been used throughout history and in different countries. How to make it so that an arch will stand instead of fall, how to make it so that a bridge will bend in the wind instead of break. And I do a lot of designing.

So how'd you like roughing it out in the woods?

[hi sansa, welcome back.]

There's always more to see. That's all I was saying.

[ But it doesn't seem to be of interest to her, so he drops it with a breath. ]You could always pain them yourself.

Not half as much as I like taking my meals at table and having a good brush for my hair.

[ but her spirits sound somewhat light, and therefore it cannot have been the absolute worst affair. ]

[ beg pardon but that sounds terrifying. ]

And I may yet. Suddenly, I have all these hours with no paths to follow and no journeys to make. I could paint a hundred thousand things in all that time.

Do you paint?

[he chuckles softly, caught between good humor and trying to be polite about not laughing at someone else's situation.]

Not a fan of campfires and sleeping under the stars, I guess?

The stars are pretty and the fires are charming -- but night after night, in a strange land? [ she cannot be seen but she shakes her head. ] The shine wears off.

To be honest, I'm pretty sure the people who try to claim it's better than a real bed and good food are just trying to sound tough.

[he could say as much himself, having camped out on many a quest. but coming home and getting brownies and hot chocolate was always the best thing in the world, and he's not too testosterone-fueled to admit it.]

I wouldn't say you have no paths to follow or journeys to make. But at least here everyone is free to start their own ways, right? So you can find something you want to do and do it. Even painting.

[That might have earn an embarrassed laugh there.]

We had art classes in school, but it's not something I do for fun.
