[Peeta's found his way to the kitchens, and is currently cooking up a batch of cookies. He stands near the oven, holding his locket so he can talk while he's bored.]

How long has everyone been here? I've only been here a few days, but it's been interesting, to say the least. A little calmer than home. Oh! Hold on.

[He puts on oven mitts and opens the oven, taking out a batch of cookies. He smells them, smiling. He puts it down to let them cool and picks up the locket.]

There's nothing better than fresh-baked cookies. Except maybe fresh-baked bread. If anyone wants any-

[The camera shakes and he makes a surprised noise. A fairy is pulling at his hair, if you can make it out. Peeta grabs a cookie and throws it at the fairy. The fairy falls to the counter with the cookie and stops to sniff it. The fairy actually bites into it, and Peeta turns his locket on the fairy curiously, showing it eating. He turns it back to his face.]

Huh. Interesting. It seems to have calmed down.

Yeah... I will. I've come across the imps but not the fairies being mean.

I've been trying to. I ran into an imp earlier and tried to do the same thing with a fairy but it didn't work...

[ Which he regrets, but he shakes his head. ]

It seems like you got nice and settled.

[Eponine licks her lips. They look lovely. She feels in her pocket for the tuppence that Patrick gave her.]

[ practically beaming. ] I always knew the way to the heart was straight through the stomach. Nice work, man.

[ now if only he, too, could have a cookie. ]

Yeah, I guess so. It's not so bad here. At least for now... for me. How about you? What are you up to?

Yeah! These are sugar cookies. But you can make all kinds. If you're at Caer Scima, you can come try some! Or I can give you the recipe, if you're at Caer Glaem.

[peeta_bread]

Oh. [He's surprised by a lot of things.] You can call me Peeta. And no need to pay. I live in the Unseelie castle, Caer Scima. You can come on down to the kitchens if you do too.

[He's beaming now, too.] Thanks. Honestly, I feel bad for throwing something at it. But I'm glad it calmed down.

[Him being at Caer Scima makes her wonder if they'll have poison in them. He's the first Unseelie she's spoken with, and her first real news of the Unseelie came from, well, the Elvenking reporting that his son had been tortured by the Unseelie. So. There's some initial hesitation. But in the end, who knows the rubric used to sort them all?]

I'd...I would. I've never used much sugar in baking, so I wouldn't quite know where to begin.

[ He pauses at that. After a moment he gives a weak shrug and gives a glance off the screen. ]

I've been working on getting to know the people on both sides. And how to help them.

[ he doesn't bother replying over the locket. not when food is involved and, whatever his opinions of peeta himself, gale can't deny he's an excellent baker. ]

[There's four missing from the batch, and four happy fairies munching away on those four cookies.]
