Video - Open to Seelie and Unseelie

[The image in the locket shows a disheveled and disturbed looking Deedlit. There is a quiet murmur of people in the background and the surroundings seem to be that of the infirmary.]

I feel as though I've been trampled by horses...How long as I asleep?

[Deedlit looks away from the locket for a moment as one of the fairies buzz by her ear, whispering something as they pass by. The look of shock that follows on her face is unmistakable and she jolts up to her feet only to feel her legs giving out, forcing her back to a sit.]

A month?! I've been asleep for an entire month?!

[She glances back to the locket then, a frown taking hold of her lips.]

...What in the world did I miss?

[ He smiles a little, and looks old ]

I will be well enough, you need not worry for me. [ Maybe. Eventually. Perhaps ]

No major players yet. Skirmishes, only - raids, on both parts. Hostilities opened, but at this point little truly serious damage done... to our rulers or domains.

[ There is considerable bitterness as he says that. He draws a hand across his eyes in weariness ]

Among my folk however... things go ill. My... Elrond was taken captive by my brother, who, in fairness, treated him well, like the lord he is. Yet, relations soured, for he was taken, and did not go willing. And then in the raids on the castles... [ a long sad sigh ] The elvenking's son was here, and my brother... lost his temper. What was done to the young prince was cruel, and unnecessary, and I do not know how this breech may be mended, if ever it can.

[ Maglor shakes his head ]

No youngling. This... you did not see. Celegorm wanted more than to hurt him. He wanted to break him. The prince lives, aye - from sheer stubborness, it seems. But an insult of the sort that was dealt to the son of a king, one who was drawn unwilling into this war, and further by one already marked... [ such utter despair in his voice ] No Deedlit. There is no returning from here.

[ His eyes shut ] I blame myself. I am the elder here, and Celegorm listens to me. And I was not there to stop him.

And I could have stopped him, and did not. As the head of our House, that makes me culpable as well, Deedlit.

As for why... [ A long, shaky breath ] I can only guess, but...after the recent incursions... for Celegorm, who the Unseelie Queen praises and showers honors on, to have his family in Seelie refuse to come with him, to have the new 'home' he builds invaded... I think he was angry, and hurting, and when the last time he was like this... [ one hand goes up unconsciously to grip his chest above his heart, as if to hold it in place (his Light flickers in time to a racing heartbeat, breath coming quick and pained) ]

The last time he was like this it ended ... badly. The prince was a warning and a message - "This is what I will do to get what I want. This is what you drive me to."

[ a small pained smile ]

Oh Celegorm can be quite charming, when he wishes to be. He learnt the intricacies of court life well. Not for nothing was he called Celegorm the Fair. [ softer ] But he had another name too, one I hoped we had left behind when we were brought here, and him from so early in his life. Celegorm the Cruel, some called him, by the time that he died.

And there is no mending this, alas. No, youngling. I would that you were safely far away from here, but failing that, stay clear of my brother, Deedlit, for I do not know what he will do to those who are not of our kin.

Reason enough. [ Maglor sighs softly ]

You are too kind Deedlit. Perhaps we may - but I cannot but think it safer for you that we do not.
