Do you think you’re in the right place?
[ Hello, world. Have a scruffy face with a crooked nose and pinned-together smile—and glimpses of a garden wall beyond him, perhaps enough background scenery for the observant and clever to note that he's speaking from Caer Scima, but he isn't purposefully trying to hide that. ]
I don’t mean the Drabwuld generally. I’m sure many of you don’t belong here at all, and I wish you all the luck in all of the worlds finding your way home. But if you must be here, do you think your court chose you correctly? Do you believe in...
[ He waves a hand—he means their codes or perhaps their shit; it’s open for interpretation—and, out of view, the gesture attracts the attention of his cat. When Anders goes on he’s distracted, looking off to the side, trying to tempt Ser Pounce-a-lot closer. ]
Smug— [ Anders. ] —self-righteous— [ Anders look at yourself. ] —paragons of virtue need not respond.
[ OOC: I love it when people threadjack/threadhop and manage my notifs accordingly, so please don't hesitate to talk among yourselves. ]

[ She'll answer the question later. ]
video;
My cat. Say hello, Ser Pounce-a-lot.
[ He turns the locket on the cat, who does not say hello. The cat attacks the fingers Anders is tapping on the ground to draw him closer. ]
video;
Oh, he's adorable! Hello, Ser Pounce-a-lot.
[ She'll just wriggle her fingers at the camera. ]

[ He's teasing, for the record. Mostly. ]

I'm not a monster.
[ TACT ]
Voice, fine—way to be prudent, faceless dude
Who you calling monster?No, he is actually a monster, you nailed it. ]I could have sworn I said something about smug and self-righteous.

[ He stops right there, his mind having finally caught up with his mouth. ]

[he speaks with entirely too much assuredness, head held high and gaze stern, but at least it's not a matter of self-interest with him. he's already had to reassure nico that his being here isn't a mistake, that he belongs with them in the seelie court, and jason's not too happy with the idea of others pushing that idea that there could have been mistakes made, even just in the theoretical discussion sense.]
[video]
[ It's a genuine question, head tilted. He can't begrudge anyone their absolute certainty. He has his fair share of that. Just not about this, not yet. ]
[video]
[wow that sounds lame. but never let it be said that jason grace isn't completely lame and cheesy.]
video.
[ She pauses, thinking, her hand petting over her own cat. ]
I think that people are far too complicated to be sorted into one place or another. It seems too easy.

[ which should be answer enough, really. this girl had been troubled to the extent that she'd used her audience with one of the monarchs just to make certain they hadn't nabbed her in error. ]

[ He has never known a queen at all, to be fair, but that won't stop the sarcasm—although it feels a little unfair, with a young girl on the other end, so he smiles. ]
You were worried they might have?

I can kind of see why I got stuck in the Castle of Creepiness. Sort of. I definitely don't belong with the Stepford wives over in Moral Superiority Land.

Why do you ask? Having an identity crisis?
video;
The point is that you are scruffy and you are very, very much changed from the last time she saw you. And, funny thing, that: by all accounts, he shouldn't be alive. At the time, she'd been devastated with the Warden cause being so sparse, and that she had lost a friend in battle.
No one told her she'd be meeting ghosts here.
She doesn't want to assume, either. Instead, she simply responds to his question.]
I think it's very difficult to sort people into two boxes. People cannot always align themselves one way or another. [Duty she understands, and understands it well.] But some rules can be bent if it means retaining order, in ensuring peace.

What are you doing, out of curiosity?

[Always good to know the identities of smug, self-righteous paragons of virtue in advance. Especially if they're smug, self-righteous paragons of the "virtue" of order.]
As for your question, I do not think it matters.
[Which is to say he hasn't given the issue much thought.]

[Being a queen herself, Elincia had spent a very long time looking at what her own country had stood for--and how it differed from the Seelie Court. There were similarities of course but time had taught Elincia not to believe in things so blindly]
I prefer peace and order but I've come to understand the value that chaos brings into everyone's lives.
