I have lost my Locket and I wish to replace it with another communication's device. {Lost, yes. That's easier to say than "it was taken from me because I died".} I would be most grateful for some guidance. I will pay what price you set, though if it requires physical strength, it will have to wait until I am healed.

Aye, it sounds like the sort of name he might come up with. [Gendry can't even be bothered to try and remember that mouthful of words.] I never did like my rooms in Caer Glaem. They were too big for my tastes. I'd give them to you, but I don't know that they'd like that.

{Gendry, it's Elvish. It's always a mouthful.} He is proud of his heritage. {Like most Elves.}

I have no taste for staying where I am unwanted, but I thank you for the offer.

Well enough, aye. The Cothromach had to deal with that mad beast unleashed from Caer Scima. [There is, unintentionally, a small amount of accusation in his voice. The Jabberwhelp only escaped because of Caer Scima being attacked and hadn't Aragorn marched in that battle?] But it did more harm to the land than it did the people inside.

I did not attack the castle. I deterred those who meant to do irreparable harm.

I would have preferred Caer Scima stayed intact.

I am grateful for that, though I am concerned for those without a home.

The Unseelie? They'll do for themselves, I think. They've got places to go.

You, though. You could come to the Cothromach if you don't fancy being about elves all the time. Lady Sansa wouldn't turn you out.

I will speak with Lord Nuada about opening the fortress for those who are friendly with Elves. We can ease the suffering in our own way.

{Though he does that a lot in his past. It's not so bad.}

Lady Sansa is an impressive leader and I admire what she has done. My travels will take me to Cothromach undoubtedly, but it will be some time before I can move.

... Lord Nuada? Who's that?

[He had thought Thranduil led the elves. It had been the very subject they had been discussing, after all.]

King Thranduil left the fortress under his charge. He is Elvish, but from another world.

Aren't we all? [It made no matter to him though. One elf or another, it was still some far away place he wasn't like to visit.] Does that mean the elf king is gone?

I mean he is not from Middle Earth. {There is a small pause before he writes again.} He and his son, Prince Legolas have left us.

A shame, that. They seemed decent enough, as elves go. [There were elves in the Cothromach as well, but Gendry did not find them easy to get along with. He was more comfortable around dwarves.] What's this new lord like?

Kinder than he realizes. {Or kinder than he wants to accept.} He will be good to those left behind. I foresee no disputes in our future.

Hn. Might be he ought to speak to the Lady Keeper, then. Lady Sansa got on well with the elf king, might be she'll get on with this one as well.

[He had no mind for politics, but even he could see that Sansa might want to try and maintain good relations and perhaps even secure an alliance.]

I will suggest he do so. We should preserve alliances where possible.

{He has patience for politics...up until a certain point. Then he's more hand's on than he probably should be.}

Are you close to her?

She's a friend, aye. We arrived at the same feast.

[He could say more on that, but he doesn't feel entirely too comfortable divulging whatever he might feel about her. But there is a certain level of loyalty present there.]

Are you from the same world?

{He's only curious. Almost everyone knows what world he hails from and who he considers his allies.}

I am. Though we'd never met, before we came here. We're not like to ever have, were it not for here.

[He had met her kin, but Sansa was from a very different sort of world than Gendry was.]

I understand. I would not have met my Grandfather either if I had not come here.

I've met my uncle. No grandfathers, though. I wouldn't even know their names, besides.

[His uncle would know of one at least, but as for his mothers? Well, she was too dead to tell him where she came from. No one seemed much concerned about who fathered a tavern girl.]

Are you curious? You can learn much from your family.

{Just knowing their identities is informative.}

There are pieces that we inherit from our parents, grandparents and so forth. Each piece is worth knowing because it adds to you as a whole.

My father never so much as looked at me. I didn't get nothing from him but his looks. It don't interest me any to know who his father was or who his father's father was.
