[ There are two brown puppies eating a Christmas pudding off the floor when the camera activates, little tails wagging as they trip over paws that they have yet to grow into. Their muzzles are oddly long even now, but they're not quite as bulky as they will be -- not yet.

A quiet chuckle from behind the locket reveals, to those who may have heard it, the surprising owner of the pups -- the Outsider. The smaller of the pups looks up from the pudding at the sound and scampers over, whining and pawing at his legs until the Outsider bends down to scoop the little one up. The locket, which is floating in midair via magic, is pushed back -- just in time for any viewers to watch as the pup attempts to burrow into the Outsider's shirt. ]

You are unlike others of your kind, little one, [ the god murmurs, smoothing a hand over floppy brown ears. The other pup is still eating the pudding, though at this point it looks more like she's getting in a fight with it. ]

In my world, Wolfhounds are kept and trained by Overseers of the Abbey to hunt heretics. That I should now have a pair myself is rather ironic and more than a little amusing. But then, they are terribly intelligent creatures.

[ The small pup licks at his chin and he starts, blinking. The locket turns off just as his mouth twists up until a slight smile. ]

Of course. I am in my rooms.

[Lumina closes her locket, and a few minutes later she appears in her usual shimmering swirl of energy, standing in the corner of his room that she'd picked as the easiest place to teleport in ages ago.]

[And then immediately beelined for the puppies, smiling brightly.]

[Little girls and puppies, what can you do?]

[ What, indeed. The female pup barks in warning -- NEW PERSON NEW PERSON BARKBARKBARKBARK -- while the male tries to burrow further into the Outsider's shirt; it's uncharacteristically shy, for the breed. ]

I am still not sure where they got the pudding.

[The barking brings her up short two feet or so from the little animal, and instead of just pouncing on it, she drops down onto her knees and holds out a hand for the puppy to sniff.]

Maybe one of your fish girls had it? ...Do they eat pudding?

[ The puppy sniffs, trying to look intimidating but mostly failing because of its size. Either way, the Outsider's friendly reaction to Lumina calms her after a moment, and she gives a hesitant wag of her tail.

The male pup is still in the Outsider's shirt. ]

Only if it is made of meat.

Meat pudding. [Lumina wrinkles her nose at the thought, even as she is scooting forward to try and pet the puppy.]

Maybe they had it with them when they showed up! Sometimes I think the queen has a weird sense of humor so I bet she'd do that.

[ After some more thought, the pup decides she'd be fine with pets. Hello new friend! ]

That could be. They certainly seemed to enjoy it, in any case.

[ He'll magically pull a bit of it toward him to try and coax the male pup out from his shirt, while he's thinking about it. ]

[Oh, a fatal mistake, puppy! As soon as Lumina is close enough to get a few pets in, she'll be tossing her arms around her and trying to tug her into her lap.]

So you gotta break the other one of hiding in your shirt.

[Lumina is nothing if not blunt!]

[ The puppy yelps in surprise, but seems to decide this is just another way of playing. ]

Yes. He is strangely shy.

[ That's part of why he likes her. ]

[Well her reward for playing is a good scratch, so lucky her! Until Lumina lets her go and hops to her feet, darting over to peer at the one inside the Outsider's shirt.]

Will he let me hold him?

[ yaaaaaay- no hey come back nice scratches :( the puppy toddles to her feet, following Lumina over. ]

If we can get him out of here, we can find out.

Just tug him out!

[Lumina is not the most gentle of pet minders. But she leans down to scratch the other puppy behind the ears ago.]

[ The Outsider frowns and tries to carefully do as requested. The male pup squirms and whines, but he's able to get him out without too much trouble, setting him on the ground next to his playmate.

The poor thing immediately tries to hide behind his legs, even as the female pup attempts to tackle him for play time. ]

Aw. Poor thing. [Lumina giggles as the puppy hides, dropping down into a crouch and holding out a hand to see if she can lure him out. Or distract the female puppy, either way.]

[ The female puppy eventually decides tackling the male is boring and goes to try and nip at Lumina's clothes -- ignoring her hand entirely, which means that when the male pup sticks his head out, he takes a cautious sniff. ]

They are not usually this shy.

Maybe they're afraid of me.

[Lumina is clearly amused by the idea of it, keeping her hand still as the male sniffs at her hand...then darting forward to snatch him up before he can escape. She doesn't notice the female nipping at her yet.]

She is not, [ he says, with an idle nod toward the female. The male yelps as he's scooped up, whining as he squirms in her grip. ]

You will be fine, young one, [ the Outsider informs him, watching but not interfering. ]

Hey, hey! Shh. Shhhhhh.[She holds the puppy against her chest to try and get him to calm down, keeping him pinned there even as she tosses a glare at the girl.]

No eating my dress, puppy!

[ The male whines some more, but being held close seems to help -- even if he's now trying to burrow into her clothes instead of the Outsider's. ]

Firtha, [ the god scolds the female pup. She looks between the two of them as if not certain what the problem is. ]

[Unfortunately for the puppy, Lumina's dress doesn't have any room for burrowing, and she'll just pin him to her side with her arms instead to get him to stop before she stands up and skips back from the girl.]

These two are gonna be a handful for you, I think. [She giggled as she said this.]

Most likely, [ he agrees, sighing slightly. He beckons the female over to him, stroking her head. ]

Whatcha gonna teach them?

[She plops down on a chair, letting the puppy squirm some in her lap before finally just forcing him to lay down across her knees.]

How to defend themselves, and those I would have them defend. How to track and hunt.

[ One of them might be a bit better at these than the other. ]

But you have those creepy undead dogs for that.

Only if they are around to be raised. And raising the dead is... far more trying here than it is at home. I am unable to do much else.

[ He doesn't like it. ]
