[Voice - Both courts]
[This announcement comes to you thanks to a very nasal voice which seems to be doing it out of some kind of obligation. Don't judge much.]
Ah, about the machines in the Station: they have instructions in Drabbish now. Printed paper sheets that I stuck next to each device, you can't miss it. So it would be really, really great if breaking could be avoided from now on. Just saying.
[He's heard some stories, okay. He likes having a little piece of home, please take care of it!]
Oh, and the cakes outside? Those are for the fairies, and they can get a liiiiittle... [Annoying as hell?] ...frustrated if you steal them so... try the kitchen if you're really hungry?
[Yes, he's even whipped by tiny fae women. Details.]
[Locked to Eren]
Hey, I did find some tools. I can take a look at your gear now.
[Locked to Queen Anne]
Your Majesty? It's true, machines do work here. I have the music if you still want to listen to it.
((ooc: Feel free to say your character found the sheets or the cakes and messed with them!))

... He'll ask what a computer is supposed to be later. ]
You're gonna have to tell me where that is when I get there.

[And Eren will find him playing with his phone when he arrives.]

The closest fairy ring to the Station is still a decent distance away, so like with most of his travelling, Eren had grabbed his horse and closes the distance between him and his destination through that mode of transport. So, with David sitting outside, he'll spot Eren galloping up, slowing the horse to a halt when he's close enough. ]
Dave, right? [ As this would be their first time meeting in person. Eren glances down, looking him over; meanwhile, despite the forest green cloak of the Survey Corps being wrapped over his shoulders to ward off the chilly temperatures, the currently useless maneuvering gear strapped around his waist is more than visible. ] Hope I didn't keep you waiting too long.
no subject
Yeah, hey Eren. [A hand goes up in greeting as he stands up to receive him, returning the look over. Dave is wearing simple local clothes now, but he keeps his pointy shoes on for some reason. He doesn't care about Eren's, though, he only has eyes for the gear, which he can already tell doesn't look like anything he's seen before.] Don't worry, I had entertainment. Is that the gear? You always, ah, "wear" it like that?
no subject
Yeah, this is it. It wouldn't work out too well for me if I had it on any other way.
no subject
[He guides Eren inside to the main area where the computers are, holding doors open and everything, but he only has eyes for the gear. All that watching is what makes him realize something.]
Wait, are those, ah-- swords? Knives or something? Because if they are then I'd really appreciate it if you could, you know. [Vague gesture of his hand.] Take them out before I handle it.
no subject
Needless to say, this level of technology confuses him far more than anything else in the Drabwurld has so far.
He's snapped out of his thoughts quickly enough when attention is brought back to the gear, however. ]
—These? Alright. [ Eren slides out one handle and detaches the blade snapped into the trigger, setting it on a table, and does the same for the other one; there's only one extra spare left, all the rest having been long broken or lost to the sea, but it joins the other two. ] Where do you want me to put the rest of the gear?
no subject
There you go... Those empty slots, you usually carry more, ah, blades, right? How many exactly? Do you what metal or alloy they're made of?
this got super lost in my inbox, sorry!
That's right—four extras in each. The blades are meant to be replaceable. [ As he does this, Eren explains. ] There's factory towns that make them, so what metals and quantities are used to produce any of it isn't public knowledge. They call the end result "ultrahardened steel", though.
np!
[Once the gear is on the table, Dave takes a closer look at it, turning it around a couple of times with curiosity to learn the basic built - a very particular design, that's for sure.]
These are the compressed gas tanks... [He taps them with the screwdriver.] All those blades plus these? Man, your muscles must be made of hardened steel too.
[Hands that are obviously used to this quickly work the screwdriver to start separating the different parts of the gear... and he's rewarded with some water escaping from it. Eren gets a raised eyebrow directed at him - seriously?]

It's meant to be as lightweight as possible, but it isn't entirely. You get used to it.
[ After years upon years of intense and extremely risky training, that is. That said, Eren watches the other boy get to work—carefully, like he isn't entirely sure what would happen once the gear is disassembled so much. Routine maintenance is definitely a thing, but he's never had to undo this much of the gear.
Eren blinks dumbly when the remains of water drops out, like he's not entirely sure how to explain why it's there. ]
... I thought it dried out.
[ Well, that explains some things. ]
no subject
[Teen soldiers aren't unheard of, but which each bit of information he hears about Eren, he gets an even more unpleasant idea of his military life. At least he'll survive here, he supposes.
When Dave hears that answer that comes with the blinking, he facepalms, internally feeling very bad for the poor gear.]
You are telling me that you didn't dry it out yourself after... whatever happened?
[NO KIDDING]
no subject
[ Obviously. This is why they're here. ]
no subject
[Not wanting to waste any more time and worried about the state of the gear inside, Dave hurries to start unscrewing the case, wincing when he finds water damage in the fan.]
This may have reached the shooters too... what happened exactly?
[Better check all the cases, including wire ones too. Water leakage is big possibility if... ah,, yes, there we go, lovely wet wire. Dave will put a piece of cloth around his hand before he starts taking out the wire and wrapping it around it.]
no subject
With a long exhale, Eren cards a hand through his hair, the ever present scowl on his face deepening by a pinch. Really, he should be glad this is the worst damage that's come out of last month's mess, and yet... ]
In short? I was with a group of people, and then we got... [ He trails off, gesturing broadly, like he's having trouble pinning down the right word for his explanation. ] We appeared somewhere else entirely in the next instant—by some magic bullshit, I guess. That place ended up being in the middle of the sea. I still had my maneuvering gear on.
[ Many details are left out of this story, of course, but it explains the problem. ]
no subject
If you stayed in the water for long then maybe the damage got done before your attempt of drying it out...
[In short, it doesn't sound like there was much Eren could've done, not without a true mechanic to take the gear to as soon as the accident happened. Dave finishes taking out the wire and uses a little flashlight to look inside the cases.]
I can fix it. I think. It's not going to be exactly fast with the tools I have but... yeah, it can be done.
no subject
Only briefly does Eren eye the flashlight oddly before responding with a nod. ]
It doesn't have to be finished right now. I've got time.
no subject
[He's surprised at how quiet things have been since he's arrived, considering they're supposed to be at war. His optimism is limited though - probably the calm before the storm.
Since this is gonna to take a while, he grabs a chair and sits before going back to the screwdriver. Enjoy watching your gear being disassembled to the smallest piece, Eren.]
no subject
[ Eren asks dubiously, but he's not exactly a kid from modern times now stuck in backwater lands. He can't relate much to the sentiment.
Either way, he's watching. Eren has never seen the contraption disassembled this much, but after a few minutes, there's other things in the room that begin catching his attention. Technology of the future is beyond him, after all; there's an awful lot around he's yet to see before. ]
Usually I can't go a while without getting caught up in something.
no subject
I haven't been here for long, so maybe I've just had good luck, I guess. [And that's one weird thought, because usually his luck is awful.] Are things usually more active then? [He turns to look at Eren to make that question, and notices his curiosity about the machines.] You can ask me about those, you know.
