Ah, about the machines in the Station: they have instructions in Drabbish now. Printed paper sheets that I stuck next to each device, you can't miss it. So it would be really, really great if breaking could be avoided from now on. Just saying.

Iiiii was joking but by medieval I meant the title thing, because we don't use them nowadays. You're from Earth too right? [Or so he got from the post with Jack.] The Middle Ages is the era that came after the Roman Empire fell. ...if that tells you anything.

[He's not used to getting invitations like this, especially to hang out with the cool kids (because that's how Jack sounded to him, little asshole prankster). But Hiccup has been nice so far and only two more people shouldn't be awkward as a party, right?]

The Roman Empire fell? Wow. Uh, I'm a Viking, if that helps. Some of the maps in Caer Scima marked out what was left of Berk and all the archipelagos in a future time-line as somewhere called Svalbard.

My first movie marathon is really turning out to be an event, I'm excited. Oh, you don't mind Toothless coming along, do you? He's my dragon.

[He looks a Hiccup with new eyes.] I guess the whole big sizes and horny helmets deal is inaccurate after all. Ah, I'm from America. [The word dragon has his eyes widening his body leaning back from the locket a bit. Not the best experience with those beasts, alright.]

I did, he's a Night Fury but he wouldn't hurt a fly, at worst he'll steal your snacks. The, uh, preconceptions are actually very accurate, my whole tribe of the Hairy Hooligans is pretty buff and we have a lot of horned helmets to make us look scarier. I'm just ... not.

[And he actually means it, he feels bad now. He knows how it's like not to be like the other guys, but he can't stop his mouth sometimes.]

[He reaches behind the locket for some more printed paper sheets. These don't have words, though, they have colors - they are pictures. After going through them, he finds the one he wants and shows it to Hiccup. There is a small dog with short legs pawing at a person's pants.]

This is Tank, he's a bulldog. He's been with me since I was a kid.

He's just like a tiny Gronckle baby! That's a boulder-class of dragon, kind of round but really tough. Ahw, look at the little guy.

[ It was awful when Toothless wasn't around in the Drabwurld, he remembers it well and not at all fondly. ]

The monarchs give out boons if you do what they want, sometimes. Maybe you could ask to have Tank back.

[Hiccup's reaction to the pic delights Dave. So many point in his favor. Pet lovers unite!] Round but tough? I like it. I probably have some videos on my phone too if you wanna see them later.

[When they... hang out. That's still weird to think about.]

Having him back... man, that sounds great. I do miss him, I just... I'm not sure if this is the place for him, I guess. [What if something happens to his poor baby?]

I felt the same way about Toothless. I know Morla only wants us to be a weapon for her, but we're always safer together than we are apart.

[ Toothless agrees with a rumble, licking Hiccup's cheek and getting it rubbed back on his nose as Hiccup hugs him. ]

I think you should bring Tank here, he'll help you cope with the overwhelming weirdness a whole lot better.

[Dave can't help jumping a bit when Toothless suddenly appears on the screen. Woah there, that's not a kind of dragon he's seen before. He stares at his behavior at first, curious and surprised.]

...he truly is like a pet! [Laughing, he leans forward the locket for a better view. Well damn, that's adorable.] Hey there big guy! You like your hugs, don't you?

[Distracted by Toothless, it takes him a minute to reply to Hiccup.] Ooooh, trust me, I know that fear very well. [He doesn't want to show off his magic yet because of that in fact.] I thought my life knew everything about weirdness but... I'll keep your advice in mind.

[ Toothless's ears are already perked (the nosy parker) from listening in, but his shoulders give a wriggle to hear Dave's oddly familiar voice, and he looks between his boy and the locket. ]

He likes making people sticky with his kisses, more.

[ Hiccup nods, glad to have helped, and he lets his dragon take the limelight as Toothless's huge nose puffs steamy hot air on the screen in fascination, wiped off by his rider's fingers. ]

Toothless, Dave. Dave, Toothless.

[Just wow, Dave never thought he could find a freaking dragon so damn cute. This is amazing.]

He's beautiful. Hi, Toothless. [He laughs again when the screen gets blurry, and once cleaned he wiggles his fingers for the dragon.] I can't wait to see him in person, he... [Suddenly he squints his eyes.] ...what's the metal thing around his leg?

That's his saddle, we'll be taking that off shortly since we're not going out tonight.

[ Toothless preens and coos at the word beautiful, lifting his head up in a pleased way so Dave can get a better look. PRETTIEST NIGHT FURY, YES, MORE COMPLIMENTS PLS. ]

So you can ride him? Like with horses? Sweet.

[Aww, just look at this big baby. He only gets cuter by the second. Dave shakes his head, amused, before speaking again.]

Be a good boy and I'll bring snacks to the marathon for you too. [If he feeds fairies, he can feed dragons too, right? To Hiccup now.] What does he eat?

I actually started a Dragon Training Academy back home, we have a few dragon-riders now, including myself.

[ 'Snacks' is a keyword that gets Toothless licking his lips before Hiccup can shoulder his way back into view. ]

He eats fish, mostly. I give him a huge basket twice a day, or he goes off and hunts his own. You can spoil him with a bit of cooked chicken though, he picked up that bad habit off his friend Stormfly.

Vikings riding dragons. The history books sure skipped that part.

I'll see what I can find in the kitchen. As a college student, I can't say I'm exactly used to cook, ah, fresh ingredients.

A college like the advanced schools in Rome, you mean? You studied at something like that?

The schools in Rome... close enough, I guess. Yes, I'm in the middle of my advanced education. I'm a-- [Wait.] --you probably don't know what physics are so let's go with "scientist".

I know what physics are, Han Solo taught me the basics. And I know what science is now, for that matter, and what a scientist mostly does.

There you go then, that's what I do. Most people from my time know how to use a microwave, but I can explain to you how it works and why the metal caused it to explode.

Trust me, that was one of the first things I made sure to learn. Waves, right? Wavy ... whatevers. Energy.

[Some nodding.] Waves invisible to the eye, that's how wifi and cellphone calls work too. Though if you stay inside some places, it can get hard to get signal.

Why? The waves get blocked by walls? That never seems to happen inside the Station's fairy-ring.

Because we have wi-fi inside. ...but I wouldn't be surprised if the fairies have something to do with it.
