[ Vol'jin had woken up with aches and pains all over, his mouth full of what he could only assume was the flavor of whatever poor unfortunate thing had crawled into his mouth and died there. He felt like ass. His shoulder hurt more than it had in months, and he was exhausted. So much for having a restful night.
...Or however long it had really been.
So, excuse his disheveled appearance, lace of face paint and disarrayed hair. He's still a bit out of it. Rubbing at the inside corner of one eye with his thumb, he speaks before picking up the steaming mug of whatever that is nearby. It had partially obscured a plate full of very picked clean bones, a few bread crumbs and a couple slices of as-of-yet-uneaten cheese. He sniffed loudly. ]
What'd I miss?
[ --And takes a drink. Forgive his brevity, Caer Scima; he's been through a great deal in the last week. It's wearing on him.
Please tell him he didn't miss the feast, though; he still feels like he could eat the entire banquet by himself. ]
[ Private to the Outsider ]
I got a note from the Fox. He took Alice, did ya know? When'd that happen?
[ Well, it's far too late to do anything about it NOW, but he doesn't know when this came or how long he's been gone. But there's none of the threatened body parts sitting around his room, so he's sitting here with a threat and literally not a single clue what to do with it. ]

[An eyebrow quirks up.]
And are humans as uncommon in yours, as your breed is in mine?

He settles onto the desk a bit.]
The royals catch up the ones that shape their worlds. 'S not surprisin' there be so many leaders.
[Although, considering his own recent promotion... He glances to the side and then back to the locket.] I think they might know things that are gonna happen before they do happen. Or might happen.
[Which might explain why he's here... Of course, if that's the case, Morla & Reul are taking their sweet-ass time picking up the rest of the leaders from his.]

His other sentence, however, gives her pause.]
I do not know if they would think all shape their worlds well.
[She has no desire to shape the world, to become whatever the Devil wishes of her.]
They could be wrong, still.
[She needs them to be wrong.]

For good or for ill; I don't think it matters. What matters is the ability to make the change.

[Those who fear what might happen?]

[Sorry to disappoint. His mouth twists, his features almost philosophical.]
Sometimes, waitin' is the worst thing ya can do. Leaves ya with even less choices than ya started with.
Time...she whittles away at ya options. Sometimes leaves ya with nothing but bad ones.

[She can't believe it.
But, to his other words--]
I don't disagree. But sometimes acting with too much haste leads to ruin, as well.

That's true. And there's no tellin' which it will be until everythin's said and done.
[Which is not comforting at all, probably.]
The trick be learnin' which. Why did ya ask?

There are destinies laid before me that I would not seek to fulfill.
